If Dez's injuries are tiring for us, I can only imagine how much they must be wearing on him. It's extremely difficult dealing with injuries and being obliged to rehab from them, especially if it's now happening on a continual basis. As one who has had to deal with that unfortunate problem far too many times in the past, it's certainly not difficult in being able to sympathize with his plight. Let's just hope he recovers and finds a way to avoid getting injured to excess in the future.

For someone who loves the game as intensely as he does, I don't understand how he can't find some way to cope with the pain and just play through it. Will they not give him something adequate for the pain? I wouldn't normally endorse strong painkillers, but if it means he'll play (and there's no greater-than-normal risk of re-injury)......

It should be like Blitz The League. We do a mini game on the sidelines where we have to wrestle him down and shoot him up with steroids slap his *** and send him on his way

Injuries aside, what has done since he got paid to warrant that kind of money? He definitely isn't the same Dez. I wouldn't even put him as a top 10 receiver right now.

Honestly, and I don't mean this to be smart, but I am tired of people complaining about players who get injured like it is something they wanted to have happen and they like just taking it easy on the bench!

He's not worth the nonsense. We need to go find a real #1 in the draft next year.

Not saying it's his fault, or that he's not tough, but the best ability is availability. And looks like he'll sit again. Guaranteeing he misses at least a quarter of this season. After all the games missed last year. We spent too much money on a guy who can't stay healthy and our coaches can't consistently figure out a way to get the ball. Frustrating.
This is not a blame issue for sure. Of course his hard-charging style of play since the beginning have led to plenty of instances where he drags the defender for a few extra yards or even breaks the tackle to gain bigger yardage...but I will acknowledge this...while correlation isn't causation, I don't believe it to be mere coincidence that the two offseasons where he had notable stretches of inactivity (holdout last year and injuries limiting reps this pre-season) preceded situations where he suffered notable injuries. Dez was an iron man prior to last year and the only difference I can point to is this one.

Indeed, Stephen Jones alluded to last year's protracted negotiations impacting Dez's overall physical conditioning, which may have been a factor in the play where he was injured against the Giants. If you look at this year's knee injury, it occurred on relatively similar play - where he's struggling/tussling with a defender, trying for an extra yard or two and the defender is doing everything to bring him down. In both scenarios, he got his body into awkward positions where something had to give. Did his pre-season injuries this year (including a concussion), which took away from practice reps, play a role in that situation as well? Perhaps it did.

One last thing I find telling (and that supports this narrative)...Dez has been trying to go hard this week in practice (at least in individual drills, etc.)...and if you've seen his comments, there are two themes coming out: 1) trying to get back for GB game (seems like the likelihood of that happening is foggy at best); and 2) this is important work regardless so that he doesn't miss too much practice reps. I latch on to the latter statement pretty strongly as I think it's a good indication that Dez is very sensitive to the notion that his reduced work (offseason/training camp/practice) has contributed to his experiencing the injury bug that past two seasons.

Definitely something to be monitored in my view...fingers crossed that he can actually go against GB as I think he can play a big role in that game, even as a "decoy" if not as a primary contributor.

Who here thinks this thread isn't really about injuries? Which is weird, because it looks like a thread about injuries.

Think what you want, but the thread is completely about his injuries and salary. I love Dez as a player, and appreciate his passion and love for the game. But am frustrated that we have to go into another big game without him. And that even when he's not injured, he does not dominate the game as some top WRs do.

Dez should have had 120 catches a season. I can't remember specific examples off the top of my head but I know there were games he was shut out in quarters and halves of games even during those high volume seasons.

You mean like JJones, AJeffrey, DThomas, OBeckham, ABrown, DHopkins, TYHilton

They all have multiple games around 50 yards this year......JJones has 2 games under 30 yards

Hopkins broke 56 yards once......OBeckham has 1 TD, AJeffrey has 0
