So what to do with Barber?

at this point i do not focus on a player.

I don't see any reason to change what we've been doing as long as Barber is healthy. Felix deserves a few more carries for sure but i don't think there is any need to make Felix the starter and relegate Barber to only closer duty.
 
Remember what happened last time we changed the starter for a playoff game?
 
I would trade him and use a pick in the next draft to try and find another young back.

Barber is just too beat up. He has lost burst and is no longer getting to the second level and punishing anyone. He falls on his face half the time without anyone touching him. His lack of speed also hurts an offense that doesn't have a true burner at WR.

However, the biggest reason I want Barber gone is so Garrett can no longer overuse him. He has shown that he has trouble getting Felix in the game with Barber around. Basically Barber crowds out Felix's touches.
 
I think we go back to using Barber much the same way we did when Julius Jones was here. Barber becomes the 3rd down, power runner and the guy we bring in off the bench in the 4th with the fresh legs.
 
What? You gotta be kidding me. Barber has been playing great for us. You people really say stupid stuff sometimes. "What to do with Barber" ***. We need to do something with retards who say stuff like "What to do with Barber."
 
This thread is embarrasing. Barber is an awesome RB for this team and has ZERO trade value. Why not just keep the 3 RB's we have?

I do agree that he's making way too much money though.
 
Barber was better coming off the bench - it suits his style better and it is what should be done IMO.

^^^^^^this. Barber being hurt had FORCED Garrett to actually design plays. Too often Garret palyed with the 90s Cowboys mentality...."you know what we are going to do, but can you stop it"? You can do that with the 90s OL and Emmit...but this is NOT the 90s OL and Barber is NOT Emmit. He is slow to recognize creases, and he is slow in general. That is a BAD combination for an insider runner.
 
yep they need to have fire & lightning. It works better in unison, gotta have 2 or 3 good running backs in this league to go the distance. He's fresh to take on Minn.
 
Ya'll are crazy!! Barber is the heart and soul of the offense!! He brings attitude and toughness to this team.. You cannot put a price on his value.. However Jerry did over pay him.. So you keep him on this team and eat the contract until u draft a better player...
 
Barbers been nicked up since the new deal. Maybe he should go back to his old role in 07 where he was much more effective.
 
You don't do anything with him...he's still a good back and a valuable part of the team when healthy...he wasn't healthy last night.

He's under contract...you worry about what to do with him when free agency rolls around again.

last night showed what great depth does for a team. Barber was allowed to REST in a playoff game. Jones/Choice put up nearly 200yds. Having all 3 means we can (hopefully) keep at least 2 healthy RBs on the field at all times
