All make sense except Leary. I'm almost certain that the OP said "veterans".

Whoops. Didn't read the veteran part. I bet it's Spears, McQuistan and Brent!

 Oh more drama lol. One guess is maybe jenkins. He really seems to be a half ***er. But i guess he's got until at least week 7 to get into shape lol.

With is PUP designtion ah don't think he can take the test, can he?
But I agree with you.

With Jenkins' suddenly inclination to be a laggard and a chronically injured player I would not be surprise to see Jason show him the door.
See how well his prima dona act plays in Cleveland or Jacksonville or Seattle, teams that need help, any help, even from sub-adequate playrs like Jenks.

It still blows my mind that some posters honestly believe this stuff.

As ss just said..

Yea, he was sure "half arsing" it all over the field for us last year, wasn't he?

Good grief..

In a way ya he was but he did have injuries but how do you explain being a top 10 cb 3 years ago to being last in the nfl the season before last. Which was the season that i really started noticing his lazyness he gave up on alot of plays. Then this last seaso he was like 36th in cbs in the nfl. Then this offseason he gets mad cuz we draft and sign a corner and he had the nerve to ask for more money. Now im not saying get rid of him we need a corner for depth and hes young but his attitude and shoulder are huge issues. Which can pan out good and he can be a pro bowler again.

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know what the conditioning test it? I thought I remembered a set of 6 100 yard runs in a certain amount of time but I'm not sure.

You just have to beat DC Ryan in a foot race through the lunch buffet line, I think I heard.

The whole team would lose that :laugh1:

I didn't notice him giving up on any plays, and both JG and Ryan have commended him for giving 110 percent last year and playing his butt off even through alot of pain. He was hitting hard, sticking his nose in on run support plays, even with a severe shoulder injury, and also was our best cover corner, by far, and the only guy who knows how to play the ball. He's much better than some here give him credit for, and easily an above average corner in this league. Now he's somehow a bad guy because he wants a new contract? Its completely reasonable for him to be a little frustrated considering how much better he is than Scandrick and how he played his butt off all year for this team last season with such a severe injury.

What's unreasonable is some suggesting that he's a "half arser" because he isn't completely healed yet, or that it somehow means he's been slacking on his rehab.. simply because they don't like that he "ole'd" a play or two 3 years ago and because he wanted a new contract.

I believe its different for every team.. and some coaches make it more challanging than others, but im not sure what specific tests/drills Jason makes our guys run through or what timeframe he allows them to be in.

Ive heard of 3 x 300 yard shuttle runs. 6 x 60 yard sprints, followed by a 3.5 minute rest and then another series of 6 x 60 yard sprints. Things like that give us a basic idea.

I agee 100% hes tough and better than scandrick. He for sure deserves more monet than scandrick also. We'll just have to see what these 2 new cbs bring to the table. Honestly id like jerry to keep all 3 for a few years to come. Thats culd bw a dynamic cb core

Man, I certainly don't want to sound like a Debbie Downer, but this is absolutely unacceptable. This is your damn job. All we've heard from Valley Ranch this off-season is how focused everyone is and they all realized how much more effort had to be put into this season and you've got VETERAN guys that show up unable to pass a simple conditioning drill on the cusp of one of the most physical stretches of the season? Really?! Sorry, but this just straight pisses me off.

I agree 100%. This is why I try not to get hung up on all the talk. One thing my team does well is TALK the talk. "98% participation....never seen so many so focused..." etc. etc. So if there is all this enthusiasm and energy and commitment how does this happen? Honestly, I can't recall the last time I heard of one of our guys not passing the conditioning test. But whether that's accurate or not, the question remains - with all the reports of new commitment, focus, getting rid of dead wood, etc., how does this happen?

I think most fans post out of the frustration with the inconsistency re: Jenkins. I agree with you that the dude put it all out on the line last season. In fact, I was more proud of Jenkins last year than I was in his Pro Bowl year.

It just happens to be the flavor of the month to bash Jenkins because there's some new bright and sparklies on board and it's been reported that Jenkins was less than pleased with the moves (I understand the argument from both Mike's and the teams' perspectives).

Unfortunately, some people have placed the two incidents (long rehab and discontent) hand in hand and thus lowered their opinion of Jenkins. In all honesty, I'd rather have Jenkins, Mo, and Carr manning the secondary and cutting Scandrick loose. I just don't think the economics would make sense. A healthy Mike Jenkins is going to command some serious cash on the open market and the Cowboys have much more pressing needs. I wish Mike the best (at least this season) and the best that we all can hope for is that Jenkins gets healthy and goes out to play for a big contract NEXT season. That's good for the Cowboys THIS season and for now that's all I'm focused on.

the jenkins haters refuse to understand that his surgery was a lot more extensive then has been widely publicized.

And that it will affect his ability to do much more than run. Basically anything to so with the upper body has to wait until it is completely healed since a re injury is VERY easy to have there.

So now we got gomers that think he is lazy.
