Cooper was always considered one of the best route runners in the NFL. You trade him for a couple of snickers bars and expect 3 practice squad WRs to make up for him. Only the Jones’ boys do this kinda crap…

Looks like out of 5 teams interested, none of them thought highly of him

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...eiver-reportedly-could-be-traded-or-released/

In the same story it says Dallas was looking for a third-round pick.
Apparently teams weren't looking to trade a third-rounder for him and, thus, he went to the Browns for a fifth rounder.

What we don't know is if ...
a. Jerry had played it cool and not let it be known Cooper was as good as gone would that have changed the dynamics and
b. had the Browns not been a trade partner would any of the other "interested" teams have given up a lower pick like the Browns or they would have made a play for Cooper had the Cowboys simply let him go.

Regardless, I think it's safe to say that few Cowboys fans like Jerry revealing his hand so freely or think that a team should expect to get a King's ransom when you've essentially broadcast that the player you want to trade is going to be cut anyway.

I still think the Cowboys could have gotten Cooper for a 2nd from the Raiders and that Jerry basically saying Cooper isn't going to be around anymore hurt our negotiating strategy to get a higher pick.

But as you said in the other post, it's all speculation. I'm not about to fall out with posters over issues none of us can prove.

So, peace. I'm out. :)

But they never said Cooper was definitely going to be released. They just said they weren't sure they could keep both Gallup and Cooper.

We gave up a #1 pick for him and got nothing in return. A couple of playoff losses woohoo.

But when Amari was here he was a no show, couldnt do anything in a road game

now they love him again.....

CeeDee will get it going sooner or later maybe when Gallup gets back
It wasn't amari who disappeared......it was dak and always dak who couldn't read defenses and get him the ball in a consistent manner!

It seems the media, overall, has pretty much abandoned the Cowboys and have stronger belief in the Commanders and Giants, with the Eagles as their overwhelming favorite. Imagine that; the Cowboys, once attributed their division Championships to a weak Division now don't even show in the NFCE rankings. I love it. Pour that in your rocks glass, Jerry.
