Maybe not, but you drafted him and then traded Brown, so obviously your team is hoping he'll be the guy who can replace Brown. I mean, if Howie was counting on Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore or Dontavyion Wicks to be that guy that doesn't seem like typical Roseman. Brown did have 49 catches for the Chiefs last year, but for less than 600 yards while A.J. had 78 for 1,003.

Roseman doesn't usually leave gaping holes on his starting roster unlike some other teams within the division...
He'll make a move to fill the hole before the season starts. IMO

Well, they're saying the right things. As if they wouldn't. Definitely more of a Shanahan-type system with more pre-snap movement. They're also trying to speed things up as I think they were last in the league in terms of getting to the line of scrimmage in 2025. But they're also replacing a legendary OL coach. It's a new blocking scheme designed to take advantage of the QB starting from under center. They clearly plan to use Tank Bigsby more.

With all those changes, I gotta feel that they'll start off the year sloppy.

I also think that, since Sirianni is more associated with the offense, he really IS on the hot seat this year.

How many games before the new OCs home get burned down? That’s what we want to know.

Disagree. They drafted him and Stowers b/c they're installing a different kind of passing attack. He's, of course, not Puka Nacua, but it's that kind of versatility that intrigued them.

BTW, this should be obvious. All this stuff is just my opinion, and it's largely based on accounts from training camp, mainly from the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Jimmy Kempski, Kempski being my fave day-to-day guy out there.

Trading Brown was more of a financial decision than a football one. They couldn't pay everybody, they had some key contracts coming up, they won a SB with Brown, and got a pretty decent return.

Maybe they draft their WR 1 or WR 2 in next year's draft.

Maybe, but I don't expect you spend a No. 1 pick on a receiver with another No. 1 pick at the position without expecting them to be your top two receivers.

I don't think Brown was all financial. I think they got tired of some of the sideline and locker room stuff when the team faced adversity. He got to the point where he wasn't worth the headache. I'm good with that because your team is likely worse for it ... at least this year.

It wouldn't surprise me, though, for Roseman to pull off a deal for a receiver if things don't go well.

1. Don't look for key contributions from top draft picks Makai Lemon or Eli Stowers any time soon. Lemon missed both the spring practices and most of the current camp with an ouchy hammy. Regardless, I don't think they drafted him as a WR 2. Both he and TE Stowers (who's too light to block like a TE) are more chess pieces that can be effectively schemed by a creative OC. Jury's out on whether the Eagles have one.

2. Edge Jonathan Greenard has been similarly absent from practice. The Birds have decent depth at rush end, but, if they're gonna rack up huge sack #'s it's gonna have to be a team effort featuring the DT's, LB's and extended coverage by the CB's.

3. The Birds flat-out don't have a WR #2. They have several good WR 3's. But nobody who's gonna make a good D have to account for any of them.

4. Just don't know if Landon Dickerson is gonna make it through the year healthy. Been in and out of practice and considered retirement in the offseason. I honestly think the Tush Push took a toll on some of the OL's.

5. While Jihaad Campbell is a different type of player than Nakobe Dean, he looks poised to take Dean's spot and quite possibly outperform what Dean did last year.

6. The Birds almost certainly will trade either Tanner McKee or Andy Dalton before the season. They drafted a clipboard guy this year, and don't need both of them.

I do follow the Eagles (and other teams) closely.
I'm hearing Wicks looks really good, and Devonte has missed a lot so far.
Concerns with Lemon are injury related, but on paper he'd make a great gadget/#3. They see Stowers as a Lively type (developmental guy with great athletic upside). Anything he gives them this year is a bonus.
Hearing Hollywood may not make the team due to some of the kids they develop looking good.

The D is scary good.
Their 2 weaknesses last year were Edge and CB2, and though Greenard has been out, they addressed both in a huge way. Probably the best trio of CBs in the league (if Riq keeps his head). Hunt is looking great, Smith is fading but getting reps due to Greenard's injury.
Also hearing that Carter is really looking good transitioning to S, which helps that room a lot.
Their D will keep them in games.

I think it will all come down to running the ball and the OL, and to me, they are just not what they were 2 years ago. If they can't stay healthy and run the ball, Hurts get exposed for what he is, an average QB at best.
If the OL can stay healthy and run the ball consistently, watch out, I just don't think they can.

Hollywood Brown did not find success with Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback. I don’t see Jalen Hurts elevating him.

Since I'm up in South Jersey for a bit, and I know some Eagles workers, I was able to get some insights into what's happening at their camp. Wicks has apparently taken the #2 WR spot so far, as he and Hurts seem to be on the same page.

Tyler Steen has improved each year and has locked down the RG position.

With Lane Johnson announcing that this is his last year (finally), massive Markel Bell is getting looks and turning heads. If he is the heir apparent to Johnson, the Eagles will end up having the largest pair of tackles in NFL history. Johnson says that Bell definitely has the talent to take his position next year.

Jake Elloitt has made virtually every kick in camp and seems to be his old self again.

Riq Woolen has been up and down but still much better than Adoree Jackson.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has stepped it up and is a certain to be the first or second LB off the bench, behind Baun and Campbell. At 35 pounds lighter than his father, he can't play daddy's brutal game style. His brother Josiah was the Tampa Bay 2nd round pick this year, and he too is a LB.

Greenard has been injured and done nothing.

Safety is still not settled. Andrew Mukuba will be a starter.

Eagles need a solid C/G backup for Dickerson and Jurgens, both still not at 100%. Drew Kendall seems to have the upper hand there.

2nd round pick TE Eli Stowers is having issues with run blocking. Not good for the rookie.

Makai Lemon has been nursing his hammy, an issue he had in college. Not good for the rookie.

Jason Kelce has been seen at camp. Rumors are flying that a coaching gig may be in his future.

I think Lemon definitely has the skill set to be a legit #2. If he had a strong pre camp and camp, maybe even out of the good. Good route runner and after the catch talent. Its not looking like you will really see it this year though

I feel like it's pretty simple for the Eagles. If the OL stays healthy, they should be good. It's just a huge "if."

I think they also had a really dumb offseason. This is basically the last year of their window, it was dumb to trade AJ Brown.
