I think Miles had become a little lazy after the big contract. I didn't see the fire and intensity coming from him that he once had.

Yep I agree, with him not fighting for the ball, losing it in the lights, and casually jogging back to the huddle in Baltimore it was pretty clear he didn't have the same drive anymore

Another thing that I feel plays into the way fans treat former players is the big contracts and free agency. I have no emotional attachment to any of the players. They are hired guns, nothing more. When a big contract is waved in their face, they bolt to another team. There is no loyalty other than the loyalty to the almighty dollar. I can't blame them for wanting better for their families though. Years ago, a player was drafted and I knew that they were a Cowboy until a trade took place or they got cut. They was around long enough to get emotionally attached to them. Now, they hang around until their rookie contract is up and then they go for the money if they don't get what they want from the Cowboys. I find it hard to care what happens to these guys when they are just waiting for the next contract to come along. Another factor that plays into things is that it is easier to care about these players when they are winners. Due to the lack of recent success, I sure don't have a soft spot because of the Super Bowl or playoff wins.

I root for the Cowboys and whoever wears the Star. I hated TO until he came here and helped us win. I have fantasy football to root for individual players. It just business.

There was several times that he looked like he was jogging through his routes. If he was limited that much by his hamstring , he shouldn't have been on the field to begin with. I think he was in no hurry to recover from his injuries.

Serious question, I have read the "not fighting for the ball" accusation often lately, What play(s) is that referring to?

The thing I'll remember the most about miles will be having a big catch and then limping to the sidelines and being out for weeks. I know some people will always love him here. To each their own.

It looked like he wasn't giving 100% because he wasn't at 100%. This is what I'm getting at. You and others are assuming he was just being lazy. What part of hammy injury do you not understand, and why do you think he would throw away millions just to look for an audition on the Browns? Have you ever had a serious hammy injury, and tried to run against NFL quality DB's after that? I'm guessing not, but maybe I'm wrong.

You take a look at his injury and blame his heart that he is not the same player after? I really hope he proves you wrong this coming season. He might get cut in pre-season, he might get to the pro-bowl again. I'm just glad to see him get another chance to prove himself.

But that's an excuse. That's the one thing that irks me about this team. They always make the excuse of well we weren't at 100% but no team is. You gotta deal with it. Unfortunately for miles it's in his blood to be always hurt. It's unfortunate but it's a truth. He had one big game. Got paid and has a history of getting hurt. He has big games in him but he has getting hurt moreso in him. I'll be very surprised if he does anything in Cleveland. Not to say I'm not rooting for him just saying, fool me once...

Injury cut short Irvin's career. Did you get mad at him for that?

Nope, I cried like a baby b/c I knew we lost our heart and soul. Does anybody think Miles was the heart and soul of anything during his time in Dallas? The guy made a lot of money off one game and played, acted, and led like a zombie for the rest of his career. Go back and watch some of the mic'd up stuff from Dez last year, Miles always looked spaced out...distant...just a soulless guy who brought nothing to the table off the field. I want dawgs on this team, Miles can kick rocks.

Amazing, but doctors cleared him to play. Okay, I guess we can't blame Miles, so now our focus should be on the doctors. Because players are off.

His hammies did that. Took over his soul. Blame the hammies! Not his soul!

Nice guy, never a single report that questioned his preparation or desire, coaches loved him, just couldn't keep it healthy after getting a contract that, at the time, he deserved and we didn't know we would get screwed on.

Hope he gets healthy and contributes to that team (late career resurgence like Terry Glenn).

Whoa, whoa.. let's not go bringing common sense into this thing.

Miles had many good games... Not just the KC game.

I understand the Ratliff hatred completely.

I just don't comprehend the bitterness we as a fanbase show to players that aren't wearing the star anymore.

"Austin wouldn't take a paycut, etc etc" Really now, if you had the choice to make a few more million what would you do? Be real here..

He was a quiet player who performed. Was it his fault he got overpaid? Not at all.

Did you all hate on Emmitt when he was in AZ as well? Miles is clearly not the same caliber that Smith was, but the point remains the same.

The same people here hating on Miles, also hated on Ware leaving to Denver too right? If you didn't that would only be hypocrisy.

Miles is getting the Mike Jenkins treatment from the fans. As a collective fanbase we should all just say, "Thanks for your time in Dallas and we hope you do well in the future!" .

At least Emmitt gave 100% effort everytime out on the field. And didn't take plays off.

According to the team, he was at 100%. They went so far as to keep him out of extra games to insure that he had fully recovered. Was the coaches wrong? Austin had said that he was 100%. Was he wrong? I think he will have a healthy season with the Browns this year. He will not be comfortable enough with a new team to stay injured. Yes, I am saying that his injuries was not as severe as he acted like. If they were, he would have followed the team's recommended rehab. I blame the Cowboys' staff for not forcing him to do the proper rehab.
