No crying over Quincy
After coming just short of winning the Grey Cup last November, the Montreal Alouettes are back at work, looking to put together yet another succesfull season.
In the past, the Als Achille's heal was their backup quarterback. This year however there is an abundance of capable pivots, all vying to be the number 2 guy. The field is deep with the likes of Marcus Brady, Nealon Green and Quincy Carter fighting it out. However, the former Dallas Cowboy and New York Jet won't be playing in the CFL this season, at least not with the Als. He left the team yesterday claiming he injured his groin. Today, Montreal released him.
It seems he didn't appreciate General Manager Jim Popp openly saying that Green was the front-runner for the job.
By the looks of things, Carter wanted the job to be handed to him because of his status, because he's a former NFL starter. Problem is, you have to earn your stripes under Don Matthews and Jim Popp.
If you ask me, it's much better for this to happen now rather than later. Remember the Lawrence Philips fiasco. Good ridance QC, don't let the door hit you where the sun don't shine on your way out.

I have said it many times and it is holding true Carter is a mental weakling and has no leadership ability what so ever and that is part of the job of being a QB.

Quincy Crankcase liberated

Quincy Crankcase Wednesday May 24 2006 - (RDS) - The rear quarter Quincy Crankcase was liberated Wednesday morning by the Larks, some hours only after it left eut the camp of the team. It said to be injured to the groin.

Crankcase, that already played in the NFL with the Cowboys of Dallas and the New York Throws, fought for a deputy public prosecutor post to Anthony Calvillo with Nealon Greene and Marcus Brady.

Soooooooo, are you saying that the Crankcase had a bad crank?:D :D

Wow, I guess Quincy never leaves any franchise without some hostility.

I have seen some stories that suggested his mental imbalance.

I don't think there is any doubt about it. Drugs, insecurity and mental instability often go hand in hand.

And that comes from a Canadien fellow who had him around for a week.

Imagine if they invested several draft choices and an enormous amount of time on him as we unfortunately did.

Carter getting cut by the CFL is like you breaking up with your GF and finding out later she gets dumped by a Toilet Bowl Cleaning Lesibian with small patches of facial hair!

Hey, can we leave my sister out of this?

It said being wounded to the groin. Casing, which already played in the NFL with the Cowboys of Dallas and the Jets of New York, battled for a station of substitute with Anthony Calvillo with Nealon Greene and Marcia Brady.

I know QC sucks but I can't believe he got beat out by Marcia Brady.

He's actually a really nice guy. I stopped by his office yesterday and he let me take a picture of him and all his new co-workers.

Also worth noting, he did not fumble any handoffs.

Montreal Cuts Quincy Carter --
Wed May 24, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports former Dallas Cowboys starting QB Quincy Carter, abruptly jettisoned by the team early in its 2004 training camp amid suggestions of marijuana use, has been released by the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL after only a week of training camp. Montreal officials emphasized that the roster move was based on Carter's early camp performances and not on any off-field issues. Carter, who signed with the Alouettes last month in an attempt to revive his football career, was vying for the No. 2 job on the depth chart behind starter Anthony Calvillo. He signed a modest one-year deal, with the standard one-year option year mandated by CFL contracts. One source with the Alouettes said that Carter had not been able to quickly shake the rust -- he did not play in the NFL last season -- and that the franchise wanted to be fair in releasing him at this early juncture in the event he might be able to generate interest elsewhere. CFL teams opened their training camps in the past week.
