lol just because you dont have (nor need) gaudy passing #'s doesnt make you a bus driver
If you were watching the Cowboys back then, Aikman was basically a bus driver who could make big throws in big moments. Any QB who isn’t having to carry an offense and can run it efficiently if there are enough pieces around them is pretty much a bus driver. It’s not something negative or Aikman wouldn’t be in the Hall of Fame.

One of the best bus drivers to ever drive the bus.

No shame in that.

HOFer Aikman outplayed HOFers Young and Kelly 2x and Favre 3x in the playoffs.

If Aikman was a bus driver, what were Young, Kelly, and Favre?

What was non-HOFer Romo since he only won 2 Wild Card games in 10 seasons?

You see “bus driver” as something negative. Aikman outplayed those QBs by functioning efficiently within an offense that revolved around Emmitt Smith and the running game. Kelly ran a red gun offense that revolved around the passing game. Young operated the West Coast offense and passing the ball was a big part of it. As for Romo, he was a gunslinger. He only won two playoff games because he didn’t have good enough teams around him and he made a lot of mistakes. Too much was put on his shoulders. The coaching was also an issue.

Aikman was by far the best QB on the field during those 7 playoff games.

If he was not; the Cowboys would not have won 3 SBs.

Who said Troy Aikman wasn’t the best QB on the field during those playoff games? He clearly was the best. Again, you see “bus driver” as something negative. It’s not a knock on him.

A bus driver is not a great term.

It means the player is limited and as long as the bus driver does not make mistakes; the team has a chance to win.

“But Jones has seen enough to satisfy him. He took umbrage with the categorization that Prescott is simply the “bus driver” of an offense centered on running back Ezekiel Elliott running behind a powerful offensive line.

Jones: Don’t call Prescott a ‘bus driver’

“He’s not a ‘bus driver,'” Jones told USA Today. “He’s a weapon. And as mobility diminishes, then you’ll pick up where he is with that great decision-making, with the mind he’s got.”

It’s not a great term because many see it as something negative. Some feel the term means a QB is being carried. However, I’ve heard some call Tom Brady a bus driver. I don’t agree with it, but I’ve heard it. Dak certainly isn’t a bus driver because he’s carrying our offense. Everything we do offensively revolves around him passing the ball and making plays with his legs. He doesn’t have near the running game that Aikman had. We were able to win some games without Aikman, because everything revolved around Emmitt Smith and our running game. However, we couldn’t win without Emmitt.

Dak does not carry the Cowboys when they play physical teams like the Cardinals, Bills, and 49ers.

Dak and the Cowboys lose and get steamrolled at times.

Dak did not carry the Cowboys during the divisional round playoffs last season either. He was a key reason the Cowboys lost.

A lack of a potent running game and the inability to stop the run are main reasons why the Cowboys cannot win it all.

That Bus driver was able to make a lot of no name WRs a lot of money. All of whom did nothing once they left the Cowboys. He played behind an OL that had two great players essentially Allen. He made a lot of these no name OL look good. Was greatly accurate and fantastic leader.

People who don't understand football and tend to be stat readers call Aikman bus driver. Talk to any NFL guy and ask them to tell you about Aikman.

He played behind arguably the greatest OL in the history of the NFL. It was so great they made a documentary about it. The only receiver that made a lot of money after they left the Cowboys was Alvin Harper. Troy Aikman was a great QB, it’s not a knock to call him a bus driver. It was the design of our offense.

So great. So great in history that only one of them made the HOF. Wow...how great were they? They made a documentary about them....oh wow....I am just overwhelemed...a documentary

They also made a documentary about Johnny manziel....

Come on now

Perhaps Aikman and Emmitt made it great...just maybe..right?

It is a knock to call him.bus driver.

So you’re saying The Great Wall of Dallas wasn’t that great because they only had one Hall of Famer? Eric Williams was on track for the Hall of Fame had it not been for a car accident. Nate Newton made 5 Pro Bowls. That OL was so great they gave it a nickname. If you’re questioning the greatness of that OL you must not have been following the team back then. From 92 to 95 there wasn’t a better OL ever. Emmitt gets disrespected by some because our great OL gets a lot of the credit for the yards he put up.

It is. Great QB, great OL. There's no need to denigrate either to prop up the other.

Only OL that even comes close is the 99 Rams.

It wasn't that great. Aikman and Emmitt had something to do with it. even Newton said before emmitt we were just a bunch of OL men, he made us great. same with AIkman.
sorry. rank that line of OL men in cowboys history of OL men? was Tunei so great? better tha Adams? or Smith? was stepnoski better than DOnald? Fred, Gurode? etc. .... Newton better than Martin, Smith, Guronde, on and on.... Erick Williams was good before his injury but that was very short lived

Aikman was elite for the first half of his career and maybe"only" near-elite in the second. But that's still equals elite. Especially when you win 3 championships.
