Some pre camp thoughts

Weaknesses entering off season:

QB
DT
RB
LB
Run defense

Weaknesses after off season:

QB
DT
RB
LB
Run defense
True, but since Dak is the highest paid QB, he should be able to overcome severe weaknesses at other positions.

That’s the Jones thought process. No one better.

Deuce is not making the final cut under any circumstances. Even if Turpin is suspended, it won't happen to start the season. It wouldn't matter if Turpin was suspended at the start. Deuce is history. Just accept it.

- I think Liufau is our hope at LB. He showed promise as a rookie, is a film junkie, and could really benefit from Eberflus coaching. I also really hope James has a great camp and preseason because I dont want to see Kenneth Murray on the field.
This is the guy I am really interested to see in pre-season and in game film.

The fans gets hyped up with Overshown, but I am looking to see who will be the cerebral leader of the unit.

Its been a while since we have had someone who could not only play the position, but also think the position.

I also agree Vaughn may end up making the roster if that's the case I don't know anybody else that can redo the return game
If I was Deuce I wouldc be at my old college field roudning up some buddies and practicing punt returns and kick returns like crazy.

He is definitely on the bubble and he needs to take advanatage of this situation if it appears.

Not word of a suspension, but don't wait. Work as if he is going to be suspended and the team si looking for an answer.

If you can get a knack for it, who knows, you might gain a roster spot due to position flex.

The only thing I am not aware of is...Have the Cowboys tried Deuce in the reaturn game and found his ability lacking?

He doesn't really need a knack for it ,the dude was really good at it in college ,He's small a lot like Turpin, he's fast, he maneuvers really well in traffic...

so first of all I doubt Turpin is going to be suspended any more than one game if any,

so it's not going to matter, but if it comes to needing a returner , he's For sure more than capable of doing it... Maybe you put him on the practice squad if he doesn't find another place and you bring him up when/if needed...
I just think a team is going to take him if we expose him or cut him because he may not be as good as Turpin but he does a lot of the same things that's the only reason Deuce hasn't got on the field more in my opinion he can be a punt and kick returner and do a lot of the things on offense in a limited role for a team that actually needs that we already have Turpin so it was a redundant not a few years skill set he had we're going to get..

I think a team that's in need of a returner and a occasional spot duty gadget guy on offense is going to take this guy in a heartbeat and he can do more for them than he does for us because we just happen to already have a better version of that here....

- With a suspension of Turpin possible, Mingo could have more opportunities than expected. With Turpin available, Mingo is more of a niche or depth player. If Turpin has to sit games, Mingo will likely see get consistent snaps in 10 personel. Turpin had 315 offensive snaps last season

- I think Cooper Beebe's growth is the from having a potentially very good interior OL to a potentially dominate interior OL. Beebe's performance last year was about league average for Centers, which for a rookie is very strong (PFF actually graded higher than Graham Barton). Even with the big addition of Booker, I think the big difference between very good to dominant is the difference between Beebe maintaining league average play and Beebe becoming a Pro Bowl caliber Center

- For better or worse, I believe you will see alot of Marshawn Kneeland this year. He is the only edge defender on our roster right now with plus run defender potential. Our FA additions Turner and Thomas are awful run defenders. Ezeiruaku doesn't really have the build to be a run defender. Sam Williams is from the Robert Quinn School of Defensive End'ing. I believe this will put Kneeland on the field a significant amount

- If Jaydon Blue holds on to the ball, he is our featured back. Offseason puff peices aside, Williams and Sanders are not good running backs. I wouldn't rule out neither being on the 54.

- I think Liufau is our hope at LB. He showed promise as a rookie, is a film junkie, and could really benefit from Eberflus coaching. I also really hope James has a great camp and preseason because I dont want to see Kenneth Murray on the field.

-The FA pool is still pretty deep at CB. I just hope of they call someone, its not Gilmore. Kendall Fuller would be my choice. He has played both slot and boundry extensively, although he has played boundary the most the past few years. Hilton would be my choice if the want a pure slot
-Mingo was still going to have a significant role as he is our best blocker at the position. I think we are going to see him used like Noah Brown whose best trait was his run blocking abilities.

-Kneeland was a walk in high level run defender, his area of improvement has always been his pass rush ability. He was starting to come on before his injury. I think he becomes a big part of the rotation and may even kick inside against the pass.

-Blue will not be able to hold up in a full time role. Saints tried that with Kamara and he was always banged up for example. It is all about getting him so many touches per game. Now if they determine they do not have a legitimate every down back, you go get one.

-I believe the future should be Overshown if healthy and Marist, but we have to remember Marist was drafted by another DC, he might not be the type of backer Eberflus prefers. Agree, about Murray, but we also have to remember Jaylon Smith earned his extension cause of Eberflus developing him. Let's see if he can get Murray playing faster.

-Just like the RB position, if they feel they need another corner, go get one. I think they want to see the likes of Revel, Carson first before making such a move.

What corner on the market do you think fits best?

Murray might positively surprise. He’s has the tools.

It would depend on what they are looking for, nickel or outside corner. I would look into Hilton, Fuller, Douglass. I am also fine with resigning Gilmore as a band-aid fix until our injured players return.
