Some Putty perspective

The o line has started slow every year for the first 2 or 3 games. Without a preseason it may be 4 or 5.

Rookie at an all new position, backup center, no time together in preseason.

They're playing better than I expected. Especially Looney.

What? Austin, Hurns, Gallup and Thompson have been ahead on the receiving depth chart. Other than Beasley he has a completely new receiving corps.
Including TEs.

Last year targets for WRs and TEs over single digits
Bryant 132
Witten 87
Williams 78
Beasley 63
Butler 23

132 + 87 + 78 = 297
63 + 23 = 86

WRs and TEs we're using this year - Beasley, maybe Butler. Looks like they're phasing out Williams. Last year, Terrance played in 65% of offensive snaps. This year, Terrance only has 25% of offensive snaps. And I'd expect that to rate to go *down* as the new players get more experience in the offense.

86 out of 383.
22% of the WR and TE targets last year are back.

We could throw a third of Terrance's targets back in, and it still a huge turnover for targets for TEs and WRs.

The difference is that this unit has no potential to get better.

As always, things with Dez on the sideline is way overblown. The only WR we have who can make plays outside of what the defense gives is Tavon Austin and thats.....really bad.

i think our wr group is better than the group last year.
they need time to sync with dak and gallup needs to acclimatize to nfl.

nice analysis
getting synchronized is a big part of it

These two sentences contradict each other. Basically what you're saying is that someday they might be better than yesterday. But based on two games, there's no reasonable way to think that the WR corps is better than it was last year.

that is arguable.
if u look at the makeup of the personnel, u will see we lost dez and switzer while gaining austin, thompson, gallup and hurns.
i would argue that austin > switzer.
lets leaves the comparison between dez vs. thompson, gallup and hurns.
i would argue that dez of 2017 is worst than hurns, gallup and thompson.

so why the apparent dropoff.
i think it is partially sync between qb and wr, which takes time.
it is also possible that dak has regressed, the much bigger worry.
