Does racism still exist in America? Or are we just exaggerating?
These are just questions for you to debate and on which to share your opinions.
The more I've read and heard about Ben Roethlisberger, this alledged offense and past uses of poor judgements, the more I've sensed particularly troubling similarities to the history of Pacman Jones.
Pacman...always in the wrong place at the wrong time. A history of alledged misconduct before the more serious offenses caught up with him. The team provided a bodyguard to keep him out of trouble, but even that couldn't keep Pacman from trouble. Meanwhile, the law was always on Pacman's heels.
Roethlisberger...he now has his own troubling history that is growing. The starting QB and team leader and hero of a city still out and about in the wrong places at the wrong times when a guy his age should know better. In his case, however, it seems the local police actually accompany him and protect him from mistakes and witnesses...yet, even the cops who were partying with him and blocking the bathroom couldn't save him from himself.
Innocent or quilty, does the publicly quiet and dignified "white QB" get different treatment in the media, by the police, and from fans than the street-tough, swaggering "black cb" did?
Is there really much difference between these two knuckleheads? If Roethlisberger were a young, black man in the same situations, would his current situation with the media, police, and the Pittsburg Steelers be any different?
Maybe yes...maybe no...some of you probably know more about both players and their troubled pasts than I do. Opinions?
