I haven't been following the news much since the season started and ultimately when Ben Rothleisberger was accused of rape but I know there was a huge backlash against Michael Vick even before he was ultimately indicted. Also, I know when it was revealed that Warren Moon was guilty of spousal abuse, the pressure was fairly strong enough that he held a Press Conference.

Now the above doesn't mean that "race" is playing a role in how society views Ben Rothleisberger vs someone like Pacman Jones.

Comparing Adam Jones to Ben Rothleisberger is a bad comparison for a study of this nature anyway. To do a study like this, you would need to have two individuals, of different races, with the same celebrity status that have committed the same crime to come to some type of conclusion.

You sure about that? I thought the asians drafted him and the blacks took OJ.

Now I will have to watch that episode again.

Pretty sure. I remember Tiger getting up there and saying:

"I've always wanted to say this. Fer Shizzle".

The Asians drafted Wu Tang.

Here is a rap sheet look at all of Pacman’s brushes with the law since joining the NFL’s Tennessee Titans:

Photo: Pacman JonesJuly 13, 2005- Arrested and charged with assault and felony vandalism after a nightclub altercation. This began Pacman Jones NFL rap sheet. He already had a lengthy one from high school and college.

September 5, 2005- Adam was invited to attend the Nashville Sports Council Kickoff Luncheon. Jones went off on a verbal tirade while being told to wait for his car after the event. He then refused to tip the valet service.

October 2005- State of West Virginia filed a petition stating that Jones had not been contacting his probation officer and that he had not reported his July 2005 arrest. The judge extended the probation for just 90 days.

March 23, 2006- Charged with marijuana possession in Fayetteville, Georgia. He went on to claim that he knew how to beat the NFL’s drug test.

August 25, 2006- Arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication after being ordered by the cops to leave a Murfreesboro night club several times. Jones claimed a woman stole his wallet. The woman claimed that Jones spat on her. The judge in the case gave Pacman six months probation and told him to stay away from the club.

October 26, 2006- Jones was issued a citation for misdemeanor assault after a female student from Tennessee State University claimed that Jones spit in her face at a Nashville night club.

Feburary 19, 2007- The facts are disputed and no charges have been made yet, but Jones was in the middle of a fight and shooting at a strip club in Las Vegas that left one man paralyzed and two more wounded. The fight broke out after Jones showered strippers on stage with $81,000 dollars. The club owner claims Jones was beating a strippers head against the bar while claiming to kill one of the club’s employees.

January 3, 2008- Pacman is accused of punching Wanda S. Jackson in the face at an Atlanta strip club called the Body Tap Strip Club. Jackson says Jones reached over the counter and sucker punched her in her left eye.

October 8, 2008- Jones got into an alcohol related incident which turned into a physical confrontation with bodyguards that had been assigned to him by the Dallas Cowboys. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has suspended Jones indefinitely for the second time in his NFL career.

The above time line doesn’t include his sentence of one year in prison for a bar fight in Morgantown, West Virginia while in college. The sentence was later suspended in exchange for two years of probation (because he is a really good football player).

Here is a look at the options the Tennessee Titans have if they decide to cut Pacman Jones. He doesn’t only need to be cut, but Jones needs to serve some time. He has been given preferential treatment his entire life because he is good at playing football.

Umm, i believe i asked what he was convicted of?

Since you are already sure he came back and shot some one that night but have a problem with someone assuming Rothelisberger did it.

"Pacman" Jones Turns Himself In

Rain Patchett
Published June 25, 2007 by:
Rain Patchett

The legal saga of suspended Tennessee Titans' cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones continues. Since being drafted by the Tennessee Titans with the sixth overall pick in the
2005 NFL draft, Jones has been sought by police for questioning more often than he has made big plays on the football field. Jones has been arrested six times since joining the Titans, and, according to authorities, he has been involved in 11 police investigations across the country. As of yet, he has not been convicted of any crimes, but that may all change due to recent events.

Absent his long dreadlocks, Jones turned himself in on Friday after he had an arrest warrant issued for him earlier in the week. According to an associated press article on espn.com, Jones posted bail early on Friday and planed to return home to Nashville. Las Vegas police stated that Jones was booked and released at about 2am. Jones was released on $20,000 bail, and he is scheduled to be back in the Las Vegas court on July 23rd. Jones plans to plead not guilty to the two counts of felony coercion that have been brought against him.

Whether or not these charges will effect Jones' NFL suspension is unclear at this point. Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 NFL season by newly appointed commissioner Roger Goodell for his multiple incidents with law enforcement officials.

The details of the charges against Jones, his bodyguard Robert Reid, and Sadia Morrison are contained in an Associated Press article on ESPN.com news wire. The charges stem from an incident inside a Las Vegas strip club which preceded a shooting. The incident occurred this past February 19th at the Minxx club. Three people were injured in the shooting including a club bouncer. Thomas Urbanski was shot in the left hand and torso and was paralyzed as a result of his injuries. No one as of yet has been identified as the shooter.

I believe his only conviction was a bar fight in college.

I think people convicting Ben after not really knowing the details says something about them besides racist and it isnt good.

Let him get convicted and then we will say he is a rapist. Or does he not deserve that?

It says people understand that a rich celebrity is a target for an opportunistic women and before we start bashing him we need to see if he is in fact guilty.......but i guess that says bad things about us...hmm

Yes, your statements say very bad things about you. Mostly about your overall level of intelligence. If you haven't followed the case and want to withhold judgment perhaps you should also withhold posts. If you have followed the case and looked into the other allegations as well you really are daft.

What Big is 100% without question guilty of is stupidity of the highest order. This story isn't coming from just one girl but an entire club of people including the owner himself.

So the long rap sheet of pacman means nothing? HAHA
But Ben R has never even been charged with a crime and you have already convicted him. Hmm i wonder why the double standard?

And pacman received a jail sentence which means nothing. Pacman's own hit squad sold him out and that means nothing?
How about the part where he was beating a strippers head against the bar? Nothing wrong with that either huh?
Or maybe the arrest for pot? Maybe the bar fights? Nothing still?
Wow for someone that is so forgiving of a person with such a long criminal past you sure are quick to convict Ben R. I wonder why?

It really doesnt matter if he shot the guy or had a friend do it, or wasnt involved in it. His arrest record speaks for itself. He has been a menace to society. Ben R on the other hand hasnt even been arrested and you have him convicted.

Who said i was forgiving, or that i had convicted anyone?

I was pointing out your hypocritical statement thats all.

You want to wait to judge Ben until he is convicted, but you judge pacman who has also not been convicted?

You do know there is a difference between arrest and conviction right?

Your assumption that i am giving Ben a free pass speaks to your overall level of intelligence. Your inability to read and and comprehend my post also strengthens this assertion.

At least we agree that Ben is guilty of stupidity. I am withholding judgment on the case until all the details are out. Not just a sound bite from a person at the club.

But i guess in your mind that makes me guilty of the same stupidity Ben is guilty of.

Haha. Of course there is a difference.

Do you know there are differences between allegations, arrest and convictions?

Which of these has happened to Big Ben?
Which of these have happened to pacman?

Some people are racist, some are not. People that want to turn everything into race issues are some of the worst racists.

Yes. Guilty of stupidity and possibly worse.

If you are still sticking to "just a sound bite from a person at the club." Then you are not following the case enough to speak to it at all.

Stop now while you are behind.

What's wrong with letting someone join you in a game of red rover? I always thought that was a fun game.

I thought you had to be 21 to get into a night club?

You forgot about making it rain, puched a stripper in the face, then slamming her head into a bar, then coming back to shoot 3 people leaving one paralyzed while wearing braids and a do rag......

So yea. Trapping a girl in a bathroom pales in comparison to what PacMan did.

pretty sure racism does still exist in america. it exists all over europe to some degree, in south africa and australia. racism against whites is a reality in several parts of asia, africa and some communities in this country. anti irish racism openly existed in my country until as recently as my dads generation and the sentiment still remains in some people. you have religious bigotry all over the planet so yes i think its pretty safe to say that racism is still a problem in america.

thats not to say that ben and pacman is a race issue, i don't know a great deal about your legal system but i'm pretty confidant that even if some police/courts/nfl commisioner had racist agendas they wouldn't be pursuing them in such high profile cases. even if they did i'm fairly sure the relation between the colour of pacmans skin and his treatment would have been highlighted and investigated long before now.
