Some Wade Phillips Stats For Your Info

Everyone knows I am not Wade Phillips' biggest fan. I call him Tommy Boy occasionally. However, I can give credit where it is due. I have recently been breaking down a lot of information. I actually find this to be interesting.


Here's the good...

• 2-0 on Thanksgiving. Raiders on Thanksgiving this year.
• 1-0 on Non Thanksgiving Thursday games.
• 2-0 on Monday Night Football. Panthers on MNF this year.
• 6-0 on Sunday Night Football. Giants, Eagles, & Commanders on SNF this year.
• 2-0 after a bye week.
• 2-0 against teams coming off their bye week. Seattle after their bye this year.
• 2-0 on Opening Day games. Buccaneers on Opening Day this year.
• 2-0 in Home Openers. Giants in home Opener this year.

He is 7-1 in September and 8-1 in November.


Here's the so-so...

• 1-1 on Saturdays. Saints on Saturday this year.

He is 4-3 in October.


Here's the bad...

• 0-2 in season finales. Eagles in the season finale this year.
• 0-1 in Overtime games.
• 0-1 in the Post Season.

He is 3-5 in December.


Here is the Unknown...

• We have a regular season January game this year.

like you too Hostile, im not a wade phillips fan either, but i do think when he works on it, he is a very good defensive coordinator, in fact one of the best.

just not sure about him as a head coach in the late run.

Hostile, what do you think about doing a history of wade with the 2 other teams he mainly coached, the buffalo bills and denver broncos, see how he did late in october, november and december too

there is only one stat that matters to me with this guy at this point. And that involves the postseason. I think his happy family time approach took the edge away and we saw the effects of that last year. That is why a number of players have made complaints about the team and individual players needing discipline, cause it isnt being demanded or coming from the top.

Wade's buffalo teams played very similarly to ours in big games in december. I remember being in rich stadium in december of 98 against the jets and parcells jets just outwilled and played harder for 60 minutes than wades team.

I am not really sure how a team can win in that environment. Even pro players need someone whipping their rear ends everyday for the length of the season. Some coaches do it with a physical prescence in practice keeping the players knowing that they cant let up and others do it with a very tactful mental approach like belichick. T-New said last year that wade is very tough on the players and no one sees that, at the time I bought that but I really dont anymore. Its pretty obvious the head coach's happy time we are a family approach is what is going to bring a ton of scrutiny on him and cause doubt from the players and the media will pounce.

The number I was talking about was, 125. The only coach with more regular season wins than wade phillips with zero post season wins to show for it is Jim mora at 125.

I actually feel bad for wade this year. He is going to get buried by the media from day 1 of the draft until the day he isnt here anymore. Its partly his own fault, part his owners fault and part the fact that the media that covers the cowboys is always out for blood. Also the players questioning him this offseason directly and indirectly does not help. Last years opening tc practice is going to be a softball compared to what is going to happen to the guy last year, and last year was pretty low rent stuff.

Can we also blame the players for their lack of execution/lack of talent as well?

We saw the Parcells regime come and go without a playoff victory.

these players have every excuse in the book. 1st parcells was to tough on them not they miss that toughness since wade is such a big softy.
