Someone enlighten me to "the plan"?

If this was the decision they were going to make, why wasn't it done months ago?

Why wasn't the player given the best chance for a new deal elsewhere?

Why didn't the team free up the cap space when they really needed it most?

Why didn't they do it when the other top receivers were available?

Does anyone in that building know what they're doing?

:banghead:
The plan is...there is no plan! :lmao::lmao2:

1. The plan was to make sure we could actually sign capable WRs in free agency and make sure we were comfortable with WRs that might be available throughout various rounds in the draft beforehand.

"Comfortable in the draft" now? Wow, you guys really will tell yourselves anything...

If you cut Dez, every receiver and agent is now carving you up because you're desperate. What other top receiver was available?

The Raiders got a better receiver in Jordy Nelson for a song. And he's better than Dez right now! But go ahead and cut him down now so you feel better.

We had the money to sign anyone, including Watkins, if we wanted, but we weren't going to overpay just because we could.

Oh yes they were going to overpay Watkins. He chose to go elsewhere. Don't try revisionist history about it now.

Whether you like the move forward or not, this was the ideal time to release him. You don't cut a starting player without already having options lined up.

There's nothing "ideal" about it whatsoever. Zip. Zero. Nada.

It's the latest dumb decision from the ship of fools.

And the latest player they turn into nothing but a hole.

I know what you are upset about. It's your generalized discontent over Garrett and Jones.

Still not seeing what difference the timing makes. Your take that they needed the money to make big money offers is just false.

Keep looking then.

Maybe it'll eventually come to you.

They shouldn't have done it until they got Hurns done.
The only reason I see them doing it now is to try to put pressure on other teams to take Ridley, so that someone else they want falls.

Or maybe they only made their decision after they had their 30 draftee auditions.

Or maybe they're just that dumb?

The plan is to continue the clown show as long as foolish Cowboy fans and their money can be parted.

Well good news on that front, it's clear that there are several sheep still alive and well in this thread...

Exactly, Zeke is the alpha dog in this offense, not Dez.

The plan is going to be to feed Zeke and move the chains using 3 solid WRs and Witten.

The might want to get a starting caliber Guard then. Too bad the premium pick needed to draft a guard will now be used to draft a WR.

I just told you that I wasn't looking. It's not as if your takes are hard to discern stash. This man of mystery thing you have going on is funny though.

The team made a significant 8 figure offer to a WR in FA. They already brought in all the top WR for the draft.

Jason Garrett or one of the Joneses would ask for his steak medium rare and you would act like it was the end of the world. That seems your thing nowadays: doomsaying every move they make.

They arrive at a conclusion through discussion and eventual concession. That takes time and then Dez went on an Australian vacation and Jerry wanted to deliver the news face to face.

What difference does the timing of the cut make?

It's $4m in cap space and they were able to offer Watkins a 8 digit AAV contract anyway.

Youre being emotional again.
I was told technology allows them to do whatever they want while in the Bahamas. Someone make sure Jerry knows what FaceTime is.

There's no "mystery" whatsoever.

"None so blind as those who will not see."

And none of it fills the huge hole they opened up today - well after any options to fill it are long time. Football morons.

Jason Garrett or one of the Joneses would ask for his steak medium rare and you would act like it was the end of the world. That seems your thing nowadays: doomsaying every move they make.

And you'd serve that steak to them. And pay for it. And let them use your back for their table.

That's "your thing" nowadays.

I'm guessing you are young but some people prefer to tell things like a cut or firing in person. It does have a psychological impact and people respect you more for having the courage of telling something like that to the subjects face, shake their hand, and have actual eye contact.
