I'm guessing you are young but some people prefer to tell things like a cut or firing in person. It does have a psychological impact and people respect you more for having the courage of telling something like that to the subjects face, shake their hand, and have actual eye contact.

It seems to have made a huge impression on Dez. Good call. Now I see why they waited so long...

My response was more of a tongue in cheek statement. And as far as the timing it took to make the decision it does seem late. Depends on what they do now though. Maybe there really is a stratagem in place.

There's no "mystery" whatsoever.

"None so blind as those who will not see."

And none of it fills the huge hole they opened up today - well after any options to fill it are long time. Football morons.

And you'd serve that steak to them. And pay for it. And let them use your back for their table.

That's "your thing" nowadays.

Paraphrasing that Bible verse is rich in vitamin I. I don't buy proselytization.

I have also demonstrated to you repeatedly an ability to criticize the coaches and front office. I just reject the type of hyperbole you are prone to nowadays.

You don't argue that the timing of the cut makes no difference and are fearmongering over losing a guy who has averaged 700 yards and 6 TD the past 3 years. It's amusing I guess.

I think they see a FA they like still available and are going to try and sign him.

I got the sarcasm. I was speaking to the hidden meaning of the sarcasm. I didn't take your suggestion for helping Jerry at face value. That should have been obvious. You obviously had a target and premise for the sarcasms scorn. I never have understood that dodge or "I was being sarcastic" as if sarcasm implies no meaning.

They tried to sign Watkins and did sign 2 WR. They are obviously targeting WR with their draft visits. It's not hard to fathom.

Try truth then. Buy some of that.

Great. Another guy who thinks it's his right to tell everyone else just HOW MUCH criticism is the right amount and what's TOO MUCH. We certainly need more of those.

I know the drill. The guy is never as good walking out the door as he is coming in. Time for you to start talking up Allen Hurns now.

It's amusing I guess.

As amusing as watching the mental gymnastics the shills are forced to engage in at this point to attempt to defend this stinking ship.

No target I just thought it was humorous. It's the simple things.

I don't like it and I really don't see a plan, I can see the financial reasoning and maybe the team chemistry reasoning (removing an alpha personality so Dak can hopefully take the next step). I'm unable to make sense of it so far from a production or gameplan standpoint.

What I've settled on...
  1. They didn't intend to do this until recently, so there was no plan earlier.
  2. They've gone through draft evaluations and now there's a plan.
  3. They've determined they can roll with Hurns for 1-2 years in Dez role and find a WR on day 1 or 2 to bring up behind Hurns.
  4. We were 9-7 and no playoffs with Dez so what are we really losing.
  5. The Patriots and Eagles have shown you don't need great WRs, just dependable ones that carry out assignments, catch what they're supposed to catch, separate from DBs, and are good teammates.
  6. $$$ going to #1 WRs is overvalued unless they're unique talents who make surrounding players better.
  7. They want more speed and smarts at the x-WR.
  8. Future is all about developing Dak, so remove any potential leadership challenges in his development.
  9. If Dak doesn't work, then we're really set up for a high pick and huge cap room to find a QB. Also, probably new coaches.
Maybe there's another move or two to come. For Dez money, we could probably sign Jonathan Hankins and maybe an Earl Thomas trade. I don't know.

While your emotions are very real to you they are not true outside of the scope of yourself.

I never said that there was a right or wrong amount. I said I wasn't buying it and that is the extent of it. Unlike you I understand my opinions stop outside of my consciousness.

I have been trying to get you to talk about the objective truth like the opportunity cost regarding actions they could have taken if they had cut him earlier ro the moves the Cowboys did make. You instead go with the Bible paraphrasing and trying to act mysterious.

I've been saying that Dez and Dak were unlikely to improve on their connection and Dez was unlikely to improve since midway through this past season. You hyperbolic characterization is noted though.

The only mental gymnastics I see are you and your insistence that the timing is problematic with the Bible paraphrasing and the like you are using to justify it.

You said that technology had moved forward and someone should show Jerry facetime. You were not being straight absurd. Your point was obvious for all your dissembling.

1. The plan was to make sure we could actually sign capable WRs in free agency and make sure we were comfortable with WRs that might be available throughout various rounds in the draft beforehand. If you cut Dez, every receiver and agent is now carving you up because you're desperate. What other top receiver was available? We had the money to sign anyone, including Watkins, if we wanted, but we weren't going to overpay just because we could. Whether you like the move forward or not, this was the ideal time to release him. You don't cut a starting player without already having options lined up.

This. This. This.

Why release Bryant right after the season and then be held hostage by free agent WR's?

That wouldn't have been the smart play.

Wing it is the plan because the front office is clueless as they come. Can't win enough games to make the playoffs and too dumb to lose games to get a high draft pick. On top of that, think a NFL Rookie and a career second/third tier WR in Allen Hurns will command the safety's attention over the top like Dez processed.

Hurns had every opportunity to step up to the plate in Jacksonville's offense with Allen Robinson being out for the season and still manage to lose his job to a 2nd year WR in Lee and Rookie WR in Dede Westbrook but front office think he'll come to Dallas and save the day.

When it comes to the Cowboys, the jokes write themselves.

Cowboys sign 2 WR and people could not understand why with 7 WR on the roster already the club would be visiting with the top draftable WR.

And people cannot see a plan? The plan seems obvious that they were going to move on from Dez and look to replace him in FA and the draft.

It really is not very hard to see in retrospect. They signed Hurns and Thompson after losing out on Watkins. They are setting up to draft a WR in the top 100.

Dez went on vacation and just came back. They had zero issue offering 8 figure deals with him on the roster so there was no hurry to get the $4m in cap relief. Them not making him a June cut underscores that lack of cap concern pretty clearly.

If this was the decision they were going to make, why wasn't it done months ago?

Why wasn't the player given the best chance for a new deal elsewhere?

Why didn't the team free up the cap space when they really needed it most?

Why didn't they do it when the other top receivers were available?

Does anyone in that building know what they're doing?

:banghead:
An these questions further illustrate why havein Stephen "Pudgy Rosacea" Jones can actaully be a worse thing

There have been no "deals" in years
