Or, and that's just my theory, they are #2 because they faced a lot of NFL stinkers like the Lions twice, the Bears twice (although they dropped one), the Browns, the Rams, the Seahawks, the Giants in vacation mode. Half of their schedule contained only gimmies.
The have the second lowest SoS in the league if you look at the actual results of the 2009 season. Maybe that helped a little. I guess it's not a coincedence that the 7 teams with 7 easiest schedules all made the playoffs and that you can find both top seeds from both conferences in the last 6 places of that ranking.
