Something eerily similar between Lance and Dak

Even as compared to the other thinly veiled anti Dak threads this is a nutty one...

But I am excited to see what we have in Lance. Too bad we didn't have him early enough to play in at least one preseason game so we would have actually been able to see him in this offense for at least one game. I'd love to put in some wild cat type plays for him and maybe play him on 3rd and short situations even. But I suspect he isn't going to be active on game day other than as an emergency QB

I will not pretend to be an NFL Guru. I did not know the dynamics of the Trey Lance situation nor did I understand the Magnitude of the Persona and the Player

This man has a Cult Following and those who argue in favor of Trey . . . Use the same exact Arguments and the same exact Energy as those who are accused of being Dak Lovers here.

Carbon Copy. Can't read defenses and is slow to react which causes late and inaccurate passes. Except the difference is that their paths are complete opposites. Dak is the Veteran that is expecting a Half a Billion in Cash from Jerry and maybe a Quarter Billion in endorsements. Lance is the kid that played 1 season in a Division 2 power house ( but what a season)

One is a Raw 23 year old the other is nearly a Billionaire . . . Both Can't read a defense and are late to react which leads to "Rushed" inaccurate throws. . . But Both have a Cult following

If any one believes Dak will finally figure it out are Die Hards but I will give Trey the benefit of the doubt. Dak played His whole College and NFL career, Trey is limited in experience but is still young and on the come up . . .

So if Trey comes in the worse you could expect is Dak "Lite" . . . It is gonna be nice to watch this Diamond in the rough develop.

Did you know that there are fans that are actively considering leaving San Fran and becoming Cowboy Fans . . . Both have a Cult Following that are eerily Similar

Go Lance . . . WE WANT LANCE
Hey, I've found one indisputable fact about both. Both Dak and Lance are on the Cowboys roster. What's more, they are both listed at the QB position.

Doesn't that just give you the creeps????

Dak came in as a rookie and played pretty well.
Lance was horrible as a rookie.
Dak never relinquished the job despite a near HOf QB on the sidelines.
Lance, in his third year, lost his job to Mr irrelevant, then Sam Darnold, then Brandon Allen, largely because he flat out stinks.
Yep, exactly the same.
Lance lost is job because he broke his ankle and Jimmy G took over. Purdy came in after Jimmy G hurt his foot. Purdy actually became the starter like Dak did for the Cowboys. Let’s not make up lies or false narratives about Lance. He lost his job mainly because of injury and Purdy got on a hot streak and took the 49ers to the NFC championship.

This is not accurate. Yes, obviously he could not play due to the season ending injury, but let’s stop pretending that Shanahan, a pretty well respected judge of QBs, didn’t see him everyday. I’m pretty sure he saw some things that he didn’t see as fixable. Otherwise he would still be there given the investment they made to get him in the first place.

I don't get the whole thing, frankly.
I want both QBs to excel as long as they have stars on their helmets.
Who is with me?

Come on dude don’t lie. Lance lost his job because he broke his leg in the second game of the year not because of his play. You don’t have to like Lance but stop with his play cost him his job, he started two games. One in a monsoon the second game he was injured early.

Where is the lie? What teams in the past have traded away a player picked in the top 3 overall, after trading multiple 1sts to acquire him, because the dude got hurt?

The list is short…has one name on it.

I actually did some digging on the Lance situation. Lance only played two seasons. His first year he was supposed to learn under Jimmy G and get some packages during the game but broke a finger. Lance was given the starting during the offseason of 22. I am guessing there was some issues with Lance and Shanahan because that is when Cowturd started putting out rumors that Lance can’t pass and is not as athletic as the 49ers hoped. I believe Shanahan releases these rumors to the media because him and his father did the same in Washington with RG3.

That’s the only possible reason in your mind?

It couldn’t be that he just liked Purdy more? And given Purdy’s contract he was the choice?

It couldn’t be that Lance represented a distraction to their QB room given the huge investment they made in him?

It couldn’t be because the Niners have a championship roster and growing pains from a developmental QB isn’t an option?

I think this thread is dumb and don’t believe Lance is a threat to Dak for at least the next year and a 1/2(possibly never)…but it’s also dumb to just write Lance off because the team that drafted him ended up trading him. And yes, a developmental QB that lost a year + of developmental time due to a severe injury is indeed a HUGE factor. You are also ignoring the fact that a (at least) serviceable starting QB fell to them in the 7th round. There’s a lot of QB’s around the league that would lose their jobs if a rookie on the cheapest possible contract was brought in and proved capable of doing the job. That’s just the nature of the business.

Teams simply don’t part with a player that cost so much to acquire for peanuts without reason. Yes they liked Purdy and Darnold better. And that says an awful lot.

Look…I get the desire to hope you guys got this future stud for a 4th rounder. But those odds are quite long. It’s just common sense

I’d like to see Dak finish a successful career here and then have Trey step in and see success as well

Like it or not Dak is here to stay

Trey will be given time to learn the offense and continue to gain experience
The only way dak has a success career is if he leads the team to a couple Super Bowl victories.

I never said the odds are good, or that Lance will be a stud. Just stating that your reasoning is short sighted. You are acting as if getting a starting QB with the dead last pick in the draft is a normal circumstance when in reality it’s wildly unprecedented. Also, you seem to be insinuating that losing the job to Purdy is some kind bad thing/insult? We shall see about that…

I don’t see the whole Purdy and Darnold thing as relevant, to be honest. If Trey Lance was showing signs of being the guy they thought he would be… He would not have been traded for a fourth rounder…despite how well Purdy played. You simply do not part with an asset that cost so much if he is showing you any sign of the potential you hoped for. It’s just not done.
