Something isn't right

Dak has to improve and like Wentz did his first season. It doesnt have to be the wins but he has to
Danny White caught a lot of hell, it got to the point even his wife would get confronted at the store. Dak is the QB and he will be fighting off critics until this team wins it all. I have seen many Cowboy players get unfair treatment but that is how it is.
Danny White was a good QB but to have people approaching his wife is just crazy.

football fans can get crazy. I loved having Danny White at QB and understand that teams still win football games and QB while important can only control so much in the outcome of a game. He plays no part of defense or special teams. Yet the QB will take 90% of the blame.

When Romo came along he was like a breath of fresh air for this franchise. All those stupid attempts to make a baseball pitcher a QB was so frustrating and everyone could see it wasnt going to work. Romo comes along and Parcells nailed it when he said dont get out the annointing oil! Nobody believed it including myself and I instantly became a Romo fan. Well these crazy mistakes he would make were just mistakes at first but over the years I was beginning to wonder. Even my father would chuckle and laugh as I would watch the Cowboy games screaming and cheering and in the end quiet with my head down. I went to the win and your in game against the Commanders who had RG3 and Morris and Romo got the ball back with 2 min left and I though he had a chance to win the game and boom another INT right in front of me. I was on the sidelines and had enough of his crap! I put that jersey in the closet and then gave it to goodwill. I knew right then Romo was freaking jinxed! Great guy but sorry buddy Im sick and tired of being disappointed. I dont hate him but sick and tired of his mistakes at crucial moments.

So from 2012 Ive been waiting for Dallas to go out and draft a 6-5 arm Philip Rivers type QB. Here comes Dak and I was like wow there is something about this kid I like. He was an underdog and he seemed calm under pressure and was very effective and I didnt have to worry about him getting hurt. But watching him there was something I couldnt put my finger on. People kept comparing him and Wentz and I would watch Wentz and was very impressed. Of course he was making all these WOW throws but his WRs were dropping them. Then I realized Dak isnt making any wow throws! He is throwing everything short! Then when I saw the Vikings and Giants shut him down at the end of 2016 I said wait a minute. He threw a couple deep balls that he had to take 3 steps to throw and put so much air under to get them deep I realized his arm strength is questionable. But the telling tale was when his mechanics were off and he was throwing short balls that were landing 15 feet in front of the WR who was running a simple 5 - 7 yard out. In 40 years of watching football I have seen tons of QBs arm a ball like those and they lose accuracy but never does the ball land 15 feet short.
These were all question marks for me going into 2017.
I dont need to go into 2017 but yes he was figured out and he is going to struggle because of his inabilty to throw the ball into tight windows with velocity. The reason I say with velocity is because once the ball is in the air the CB is going to try and break on the ball if the window is tight and if Dak floats the ball just a little bit it will get picked off. He stays away from throws like that and against better teams in the playoffs you will have to make some throws like that to win! Sure he is gonna beat up on weaker teams but struggle against good teams. Thats why I am not sold on Dak and why It may sound like I disrespect what he has done.

So Dak can't throw a 5-7 yard route? And his throws are 15 feet short on a 5-7 yard route after taking 3 steps and airing it out? So Dak can only throw 1 to 6 feet from the line of scrimmage? Yes, he's got some really questionable arm strength then. My 5 year old son can throw farther than that.

Just my opinion, but I don't think the issue is Dak as much as it is social media or, more specifically, how social media has evolved over the past few years.

Regardless of the forum or the topic, social media has provided a convenient and "safe" place for any and every crackpot to voice an opinion regardless the facts or evidence. I find it increasingly rare that anyone changes their mind on social media. More often than not, opinions become even more entrenched and the social norms or niceties you might expect in today's work environment disappear.

Let me give you a very quick personal example. I belong a FB chat group that focuses on risk management associated with technical scuba diving (technical diving is defined as beyond the limits of recreational diving -- mixed gases, decompression stops, cave, etc). Very recently, we were reviewing the circumstances associated with the Thai soccer team trapped for about two weeks in a cave system in Thailand. The amount of rancor, bad manners, name-calling that emerged from what should have been a purely technical discussion was disgusting.
.
I think the "no consequences" social media is to blame... what concerns me is, where does it go from here?
The worst is Twitter. People have a direct line to athletes and say the most vulgar, unacceptable things to them, that they would never say to their face. It's not just sports either. People are just horrible when they have an place to speak their mind anonymously.

Arizona is not trading you Rosen. Bridgewater is just Dak with less size.

Go through the league and be objective. You have to realize, the league doesn't have a great opinion of Dak right now. Not by a long shot.

They're in a wait-and-see mode on Dak, just like anyone objective should be.

I'm rooting like hell for him because it would make the future so much less cloudy for Dallas from a personnel acquisition standpoint. But I've got to see a lot better than what I've seen so far, and his arm issues are glaring.

I think you mean the fans and media don't have a great opinion about Dak right now. There's no way to know what the GMs, HCs and others think of Dak.

If I'm being objective, I trade Rosen for Dak, and that's not a knock on Rosen, it's just there is no clue what Rosen will be. And, frankly, I trade Eli for Dak simply because of age. And I probably trade Cousins for Dak because I think Cousins is purely a stat monster (of course, that's how most view players today because of the fantasy FB effect).

Been saying it since 2012 on the dc.com site, this fan base is terrible in forums. I never see more hate for this team than here. I work with fans of Green Bay, Philly, NE, etc and they're all significantly more positive about dallas than these forums.

I used to say that trash talk had no impact on me because cowboys fans get trash everywhere. Now I say that trash talk has no impact on me because nothing I've heard an eagles fan say is on par with what this fan base says about this team online.

It's a joke really and if it weren't for the breaking news and quieter, more reasonable posters that say interesting things, I wouldn't come here.

Know what I don't get. Why does anyone here care whether some other poster likes Dak, Garrett, Booger or any other member of this team? Who cares?

I could care less if any of you like or dislike any of these people and I started a thread about Dak that was designed to go down the middle and did the same for Romo years back. You don't like Dak as the DC QB? Fine with me just as it is if you do like him. Every poster here has their own reasons for disliking or liking and they don't have to defend their position.

Someone has their mind made up, give up. Have you seen one 180 here once a mind is made up because someone showed then the "error in their thinking".

My "Something Ain't Right" list doesn't have room for football players but if I had anything about sports on it, there is one that's on the list list. Ya know what ain't right? A damned football team continues to reward it's owner with ratings and revenue when accomplishing so little. That is the main problem with this team and it has been that way for 23 years and is the reason nothing changes.

As far as Dak is concerned, color me undecided because I haven't seen enough yet to go either way. And to be candid, I like the way this sets up, adds a little bit more drama to the drama queen of all sports. We've got Garrett on the bubble, some think, and the QB too. And no one is happier than the talking heads.

DS, I don't know how long you have been a fan but this is not exclusive to this forum. This has been around since the team was born.

I have been seeing this since the Meredith years and Schramm gave Landry a 10 year contract just to shut them up. I shouldn't complain about the local sportswriters because they're just reflecting from the fans. Randy Galloway based his entire show around the fact that Cowboys fans are so reactive and quick to judge.

The Dallas Cowboys, more than any team in any sport, have more of an entitled fan base. Part of the strong polarization of this team is that fanbase. Some of the biggest aholes and least informed fans I have ever met were Cowboys fans. Even the ones you do not like here pale by comparison to some I know very well. Other fans that have encountered some of these people, that is the reason they hate this team.

This forum is as bad as all the other mouth breathers on social media when it comes to Dak. If you never watched Dak and just read social media and this forum, you would think he was one of the worst QBs ever. It's ridiculous.

Dak gets trashed for a down year with got us 9 wins. Yet the golden boy Romo got praise and excuses for three straight 8 win seasons.

Romo's 8-win teams had 5-win talent. Go back and look at his oline from those years. That is the very reason for
them building the line they currently have in place. There's no Phil Costa or Al Johnson out there now. Hell, those
guys from back then make Chaz Green look like a bona-fide starter.

That being said, I'm not a Dak hater. I believe he's working hard, hopefully, on his footwork and will be a
strong leader on offense. We will be looking back at his rough patch last year and say it's the best thing that
happened to him. The absence of Dez and Witten will actually be a plus. Someone will emerge. They always do.

I don't think it was dak that got figured out, it was the coaches that got figured out. They are the goofs that need to prove they can bring creativity to the table this year. Dak is just doing the same ole **** he is told to do by the incompetent.
There you go. Excuse already to roll out.

For some reason Dak can drive his Silverado into a wall and it would be GM's fault.

Stupid and or people that like to say hateful things about others used to know just enough to not utter out loud every moronic thought that came to their head.

Something has changed. Morons now have a voice and they want everyone to know who they are.

Morons huh? What the heck are you talking about?
Let me tell you something there a lot of us aren't sold on Dak so we are morons now....man fans like yourself are the reason Jerry is getting away with 24 years of no glory....its true what they say....there's one born everyday!!!!

Not being sold on I get that, the down right hatred you show for a young player entering his 3rd year I don't.

You can’t think these Dak-words are clever or funny do you?

If he fails as you say he will I, and I bet others, will have no problem admitting they were wrong. Will you do the same if he doesn’t? Or will you say it’s because of the o-line, Zeke, and all they other excuses you are building into your ill thought out(IMO) position?

I'll eat all the crow in the WORLD if Dak proves me wrong will be my pleasure bud but trust me here its talent we're talking about here not the word you Dak-bots love to post here and hide behind the "HATE" word. There is NO hate just some of think he STINKS as a QB...live with the fact thats its a free country and we cannot all agree with your opinion which personally i consider faulty at best!

Don’t know about this sight but the old Cowboys forum I was at that shut down used to have so many threads on Romo and how much he sucked or not that he had his own sub-forum. It’s this new age social media and its the QB for the Cowboys. Don’t really matter who it is. There will be a ton of haters and supporters. Nothing gets people posting more than QB discussion.

True you can think as you choose, lets just say not many teams would bench of release a young QB this early in his career given the fact he did help this team to post season in his rookie season and while not great last season he still posted better than a vet like Cam Newton.

What hatred are you talking about please man please....you want hate well I hated when we got BLOWN out by the EAGLES at home and the BOLTS and the Falcons.....I hated 15 Quarters of inept 0 TD OFFENSE ....I HATE a QB who can only throw check-downs.....I Hate high passes....I hate missing the playoffs cause when we needed DAK the most he LET US DOWN.....you got enough hate bud....thks...

P.S. No Hate for Dak just HATE his inept play at QB.....xxxooo

It comes off as hatred given the post you constantly make. Saying you doubt him is one thing but many of your over the top and constant thread show something completely different. He is a young QB look around the damn league many 2nd year QB have trouble nothing fricken new about that. Hell Dak put up numbers better than Cam who is a seasoned vet, yet I don't see Carolina fans complaining. I hate missing the playoffs as well, and Romo was known to throw some stupid INTS that cost this team. You can hate on who you please that is on you. Dak may or may not be the solution but any reasonable person would give the guys the chance given what he has accomplished thus far

Dak will get his chance and honestly he deserves it but take this to the bank ....by the time the season ends Dak will be benched as his flaw's are many and not even Zeke or our 300 million OFFLINE can save him from his RG3,Tim Tebow, Destiny.....

You with the Tebow comments that is just stupid. You love throwing that out there yet Dak numbers are a hell of lot better than anything Tebow did.

I might be over-killing on the Dak issue but its because i consider it PROBLEM # 1 (after JJ lol) for our Cowboys.....as long as he's under center we're wasting time and going nowhere fast......
