A 2000 Balitmore Ravens defense with a 2007 Patriots offense. That would be amazing to watch. The Pats had a good defense in 07 but nothing spectacular. They had their fair share of flaws. The Ravens have always had a knock out defense but always a piss poor offense. I've always wondered if a team could combine the two. It's possible.

Do you think our team could become that? The reports I've heard sounds like our offense could become very potent. Not 07 Patriots potent, but sounds like with Romo spreading the ball around and the running attack this team can put points up in a hurry. All the powerhouse defenses have always have average to below average offenses. IE:Steelers.

BTW..Has there ever been a team with a juggernaut offense and defense? I didn't start watching football till I was about 7 or 8. Which was around 1995-96 and I've yet to see it.

92-95 cowboys :)

I wish I was old enough to see how great they really were. They had a lights out defense too? I just always knew about their offense with the tripplets obviously.

I believe the offense and defense finished top 3 in points scored and allowed through those years. They were a sight to behold for sure

I do believe the 92 or 93 Cowboys had both the #1 Offense and #1 Defense. Maybe both years they did. I'm not sure.

Really? I wanna see that again! Just shear dominance.

#1 Defense and #2 offense in 95. Yardage wise on both accounts.

keep drinking the kool aid.

Correction. It was in 92 we were#1 in defense and #4 in offense. This was regarding YPG on both accords as per NFL.com. Thiught it was 95 1st and 2nd and SF was a very dominant team still back then. Also was Buffalo. The elite were truly elite and the battles between them were much greater in that era than the 2000's. Very unique teams at the top during that era.

Why was I thinking the same thing? :D

Man... those were the days until JJones screwed it up. And he is lucky we won in '95 when the players took the team in their own hands and basically let Switzer coach himself. I could even venture to say we would have won until 96... yup 5 straight! Shoulda, coulda, woulda...:banghead:

No doubt. Unfortunately I've seen us with the 2000 Ravens offense and 2007 Patriots defense several times. :banghead:

The '92 and '93 teams really did have the best defense and the best offense on the field. Buffalo may have had a statistically better offense, but they played in the AFC, which is those days was just an awful, awful conference. It was like the Triple-A of football back then, and the Bills were the only good team (hence making 4 straight super bowls).

Plus the only reason the Cowboys didn't have more Yardage is because they'd always get out to big leads and run the ball to ice the game.

As long as the NFL continues to have a salary cap, you won't ever see that.

What is funny is that the last three 'record setting' offenses that were hyped as the greatest of all time all FAILED to win a Super Bowl:

1998 Vikings
2001 Rams
2007 Patriots.

The hyped defenses were 2-1:

2000 Ravens
2002 Buccaneers
2006 Bears

Let's see here...

1969 Chiefs..#2 points scored, #1 points allowed
1972 dolphins..#1 points scored, #1 points allowed
1995 49ers..#1 points scored, #2 points allowed

There have been some others, but you get the idea that that type of this has happened.

However, like I said earlier, I wouldn't expect to see it again with the salary cap.
