I know it's early and I maybe falling in a trap yet again with my beloved Cowboys but their seems to be something different going on with the organization. We are aggressively searching high and low churning this roster looking to add guys who are coming to try out for us who may have been disregarded or given up on. Now I'm not saying this means anything cause we haven't played a game yet but I like the direction we are headed in. We r a young football team we are getting real young on D still remains to be seen if it translates on the field but I like we are being aggressive

Agreed. I said this in another post, but very quietly, the talent level, especially on defense, has risen considerably. And even with all the problems last year, what if the Cowboys won one or two of those losses that came by one point? It's easy to drink the Kool Aid, or eat the cheese, or whatever cliche you prefer this time of year, but I like what I'm seeing too.

I'm optimistic that this team can turn the corner. I hope we get to the point were we don't have to turn over every rock looking for a miracle. All in all I still see an 8-8 team, but one now that with a change in mind set could win 11 games and make some hay in the playoffs.

I was thinking there was a change too....we cut Ware, let Hatcher walk, drafted Martin with our first pick.. and then they went and took a project player with our #2 pick and gave up our 3rd rounder. A team that is rebuilding does not do that. You don't draft for need when you aren't going to compete right away, you draft BPA. We could have had 3 solid starters and instead we got 1 and one potential starter. Extremely dumb draft and shows that the guys in charge are clueless. When a team has a ton of holes, they need to get as many starters as they possibly can in every draft until they fill all the holes. Then you draft for need. This is a 6-10 team.. don't get your hopes up at all.

Go back and read some posts from last year around this time. There were similar posts. In fact, go back the year before, and you'll see the same post then. Yet every season with JG as HC has been the same. 8-8 and no playoffs.

Realist take on the draft?

How about blind homer take on it. :)

I imagine any homer was happy for the most part.

I tend to take a wait and see approach when it comes to the draft. I dont know enough to know if it will turn out to be a good draft or not. Time will tell tho. I must admit, I dont know as much as the guys making the decisions.

I would bet you do know as much as the guys making the decisions given the lack of success in the past 18 years. You don't give yourself enough credit man.

I agree.

The 1st pick was soooo good, then it sorta fell apart.

Still feels like a 7-9 team, but I think that the future is brighter now than it was this time last year. I'm 100% behind the youth movement taking place, and all for getting rid of overpaid, old guys. I'm ready to move on from Witten, Garrett, and Romo, and just keep the youth movement going.

Lawrence is not a project player IMO. It could go good or bad with any rookie but if you feel he's a project than I'm not sure if you're just hating or we have different definitions of what a project player is.

Yup, I got very excited after we picked Martin. I was thinking.. "Man, we really starting to make the right moves" and then my hopes were dashed on night #2.

It is kinda strange that the outlook for the team has done a 180 degree turn since the week before the draft. This must be one heck of a draft class or either Jerry has sucked them in again.
