Pro sports isn't a resort vacation. It's a cut throat business. Many players have lost their jobs to injury or poor performance. Bledose had it happen to him in both instances.

All offseason we heard from Romo and the Cowboys how much stronger Romo was. Heck, Romo even said after the hit last week that last year he would not have been able to take that hit. Well thing is, he couldn't take it this year either. A small hit caused what we are dealing with now. Another season we have to play without him.

The only thing that is protecting him is he is in the backloaded portion of his contract. So we can't trade/cut him. And Jerry loves him. He will most likely play again when he gets healthy. He shouldn't but most likely will.

But if Dak shows promise and plays well, the Romo era should be done with.

Agreed. He was to be in shape. He was to be stronger. He also didn't practice much in training camp. What a luxury!

I bought into the hype. I ate the cheese. I hope Dak takes this job for good...

That, or Dak is a dark wizard that causes the starter to get hurt (see MS State).

Romo sucks at savings throws anyhow.

That's easier said than done. The competitor in him won't allow him to give up on a play. As long as he has time, he thinks he can make a play.

I can't fault him for that even though I hate he got injured.
What I love about him provides the most anguish.

I did, too. Don't know why but I just did. They talked a good game all offseason. They were saying how stronger he is now and it will be very hard to injure his back again. But it was just all hot air. His back was as vulnerable as it has ever been. No player plays forever and just because you want to move on does not make you any less of a fan as many have insinuated since last week.

Unless Dak is off the charts terrible, he needs to play this whole season. I'd rather have a QB who you don't have to cringe every time he drops back to pass because you are afraid this might be his last snap.

Romo got hurt against the Eagles. Came back and then got hurt against Carolina a few months later. And could not last a few quarters this preseason. That's very concerning. He just can not take hits anymore and most likely never will. He needs to now worry about his own personal health and what shape he wants to be in after football. Back injuries are serious.

I would LOVE for him to be Romo's heir. It does seem interesting that things seemed to have aligned just right for him. If Romo were a D-bag, I wouldn't care if he came back but he is not. The best case scenario in my opinion is that Dak handles things well until Romo returns and they go to the SB and win it. Dak continues to develop and Romo retires at the end of next season with another SB. Dak steps in and there is ZERO steps lost due to QB transition. Do I think that's going to happen? I guess it's technically possible, but I will make no predictions either way. I'm just kind of tired of Romo having bad luck.

Would have been better for Dak had Romo gone down a few games into the season and he got to learn a little from the sidelines first. Having to start on opening day could be a rude awakening for him, hopefully he handles it well and everyone around him steps up.

To me it just feels like the time is now for Dak... Romo has given all he as but it comes a point when you have to consider quality of beyond football, he has two young boys to think about.

Would have preferred Dak being able to learn from the sidelines for a couple years. The preseason and regular season are very different. I just hope the team steps up so he's not stuck having to carry the team like Romo's had to do. It could wreck the confidence he gained in preseason.
