Something to be excited about

Let me start off by saying I'm a huge fan of this years draft class.....with that said though we need to be realistic about expectations for these guys. I say this not because I don't want fans to be excited about the Cowboys, but we do a disservice to the players every year by putting so much on their shoulders. Last year Tyler Guyton....the hype machine took him up to the moon only for him to come crashing back down. Similar with Caelen Carson after a hot preseason. 7th rounder Justin Rogers was labeled as a quick fix big body 1T to fix the run game....didnt even make the roster.

Last year in all the NFL here is how many players were regular starters by round:

1st round - 20/32 players
2nd round - 12/32 players
3rd round - 7/36 players
4th round - 6/35 players
5th round - 3/41 players
6th round - 1/44 players
7th round - 0/37 players
Entire draft class - 49/257 picks were starting players (Just 6 of those players were voted to a pro bowl)....Now I'm sure there were some guys not considered "regular starters" that came on late in the year to get some starts or were valuable role players as well, but on the flip side there were also some very bad rookie starters who were liabilities for their teams as well.

Really with the draft I think the number you want to focus on is 1.5....Can you get more than 1.5 multi year starting caliber players out of any draft for your team. If so its typically a pretty good draft. If you can get 1 along with some really solid role players its typically a pretty solid class as well.

To half these guys from the Cowboys draft class just making the team is going to be a success story. Be patient with these guys, enjoy the small victories when they happen throughout their individual journeys, but lets keep level heads when they get overhyped as well....not fair to these guys who really have the odds stacked against them for the most part.
Wow.. they are telling numbers eh..

Send them to Jerry and Air Quotes so they can understand why you need to use Free Agency.

I’ve been around long enough to know that to reach the upper echelon’s of the NFL playoffs and to compete for a Super Bowl you’ll need to have very good offensive and defensive lines. You HAVE to have a legitimate running game so that late in the games with the lead you can pound away the time on the clock. Likewise you need a defensive line that can eliminate opposing teams running games. So when the new head coach voiced these same feelings I was immediately onboard with the hire.

And then the draft and they picked 3 d-lineman, 2 o-lineman and 2 running backs furthering Scotty’s vision. We all should be excited about this change in philosophy for the Cowboys. They’re trying to become a tough, physical team on both sides of the ball. The season doesn’t start until September so there’s plenty of time to address the hole at WR and maybe a CB. So win or lose, there’s something to be excited about after last year’s mess.
I’m excited that we beefed up the trenches. Also I’m excited that they kept their word. I wasn’t happy with the Schotty hire and when they made the hire they kept addressing culture. Well 3 months ago that was good but with this draft they backed up that talk. This is one of the few times they said something and then months later backed it up with actions. That makes the Schotty hire a little better for me.

So for me it’s exciting that they said they had a plan for the team in the field and off the field. Then they backed up their words.

They picked multiple dline men before. They were both cut in camp, maybe 1 made the PS5, that I don't remember. Jerry doesn't want a guy that doesn't rush. He still thinks all tackles can rush like Ratliff and if not they tend not to last long here. Maybe these coaches can make this work and keep the clowns away from the players.

You’re defending a guy who made the term “hater” an insult on this very site. You’re also defending a guy who DM’s people and accuse them of things on this site. I know MC who he is and what he’s said. You may not agree with him, but he’s nothing like the poster you’re defending. I’ve been around here long enough to know both of their posting history’s.
LMAO!! This must be Mountaineer's other account. Or another troll like he is. I rather take up for a true fan than a troll who goes in hiding when we go on a win streak. Shame on you for taking up for a Philthy fan.

Dak's winning percentage is very good when they run for more then 130 yards.
- It is very very good when they run for over 130 and the opponent runs for less than 130.
Clearly thats not possible with this defense

No DTs and no LBs and CBs who cant tackle

Will you run and hide week 5 or 7? Bro has GODAK on his license plates and a custom 4 paint job. You are the leader of the culture that has this team in this predicament. Dak sux. Your delusion and your delusional army made Jerry keep him by buying all the 4 gear. The only stat that matters is playoff W. He will never ever ever get those.

Why would anyone hide from the likes of yourself? :flagwave:

But, brother @Rockport , how can this be? Some Dak haters have accused us of being one and the same poster with 2 different accounts (against site rules). I agree wholeheartedly with you, but how can we be the same person with 2 separate accounts if your ISP says you are in Hawaii while I am in Texas???

Gotta love the wild story accusations the haters come up with. Soooo entertaining...

:lmao: :laugh::muttley:

I can actually get down with this.

Weird that you’re defending a guy who goes around telling people to find a new team to root for, or calling them a “hater” at every turn making it an insult on this site. You’re defending a guy who has also made things racial and how they should root for their team. @MountaineerCowboy does none of those things.
And you defend a guy who’s an Eagle fan…..you can’t make this crap up…..

Point to my post where I'm "defending" anyone. I referenced Rockport because your buddy MountainOysterBoy lied about him. Another one of many lies told by him.

Why are you defending MonutainOyerstBoy? All he does is lie and complain about the Cowboys. For you to defend a poster like that tells me you must be just like him.
Anyone who defends Mountaineer is compromised and I assume they share the same ideologies as he does.

A herd of armadillas ran through last night and they all seem to be playing dead...

If Micah goes down or regresses, the Cowboys are toast (wondering if I did that right?)…

(had to know if I could post that without laughing….I couldn’t)
You are limited drafting as a contingency to replace key players. The battle is won at the line of scrimmage. Aside from that, it looks like we drafted a very good pass rusher.
  • Round 2: Pick 44: OLB/DE Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College

The Cowboys' defensive end group in 2025 was stellar heading into the draft. Micah Parsons is one of the best in the league. Dante Fowler Jr. had 10 sacks last season. They added former first-round pick Payton Turner and have two second-round selections with potential in Sam Williams and Marshawn Kneeland. But as it stands right now, at the end of the season, Parsons, Williams, Turner, and Fowler Jr. will be free agents. Donovan Ezeiruaku was one of the top pass rushers in this class, and Dallas now adds him to their rotation for the next few seasons. He can be a designated pass rusher early and build into a significant contributor later. Grade: A

Other than the two-way freak show, Travis Hunter, Shavon Revel Jr. was the best corner in the draft on a lot of scouts' evaluations, and in the top five on nearly every board. An ACL tear caused him to slip to pick No. 76, where Dallas stole him away. He fits every requirement the Cowboys want in a defensive back. Revel Jr. is tall, has length, is a great athlete, competes against the run and is a playmaker in the back end. He is perfect to pair with All-Pros DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs. Hopefully, they can play together more than they did with Jourdan Lewis. Grade: A+

I agree there at least seems to be a vision of what they want. I never got an idea of what McCarthy was trying to accomplish.
