There were 6 teams with 100 yard rushers this week. Of those 6 teams, 5 of them WON! Dallas ran the ball 26 out of 92 total plays or 28% of the time, AND were ahead in the game until the last minute of the game.

jus sayn'

BTW ... this doesn't not included McFadden's 100 yards because the game isn't over ... but ... Oakland is winning. So it looks to be 6 out of 7 winning ... maybe it's just me ...

So, we should try to play with the lead at the end of games? Or we should have run the ball fourth five or so times yesterday to get to 100 at 2.6/carry?

Yea, and if they kept running the frickin ball tony wouldn't have fumbled at the goal line or thrown that pick. Running the football cuts down on mistakes and negative plays. While it might not always work as far as yards, it makes the other team earn their win. Instead, JG consistently makes this team one dimensional and puts Tony in a position to fail. Does this mean Tony should be absolved of his mistakes? No. But JG is in part responsible for a lot of those picks and turnovers because he refuses to stick to the run game.

72% of our plays were passes, including back to back Shotgun plays at the goalline.

You dont even do that on Madden.:bang2:

If Miles gets his head around faster, it's a non-issue. That ball on the second pass was right where it needed to be for the TD.

In case nobody noticed, we couldnt run the ball worth a damn all night.

That's getting lost in the complaints about the QB. We couldnt convert on third and one, our screens weren't as effective as we'd have like with the exception of one important drive, and Felix-a player we're counting on this year, heavily, only averaged a couple yards/carry yesterday. Not what we need when it's time to salt a lead.

Its funny how some fans minds work.

The OP really thinks we would have won the game if we came out and just ran the ball. Now if we were averaging 5 YPC and then just stopped running and became pass happy then I could see his point. But averaging 2 yard per carry and still forcing the run is just stupid.

I'm sure if we kept running the ball we wouldnt have scored the points we did score and then this conversation and all the complaints would have been around something else.

In case anyone didn't notice, the Jets have a pretty good defense and prevented us from running the ball effectively. Banging your head against the wall when the passing game was actually proving to be successful seems kinda silly to me.

How many times did the Jets run the ball? Answer: 16 times for 46 yards. We made more of an effort to run the ball with 26 attemps for 64 yards. Bottom line is neither team was effective running the ball. Romo should have known better than run that ball at the goalline. We kick the chip shot field goal there and nobody's having this talk, we win.

Because running backs NEVER fumble ...

With our O line it should come as no surprise at all that we could not run the ball. That will be our weakness this year on Offense; against the good D's our running game will not be very good at all. Just reality. That is the price you pay for new kids on the block that need time to learn and get stronger.

It was one game (1st game of season) against the Jets defense. Let's see how it goes before making such predictions. We knew what to expect from Gurode and the Smashburger Bros. the last few years.

I agree. The Jets simply don't allow teams to run the ball effectively. You have to pass the ball to beat them, and Dallas did that well.

You show me a team that runs the ball often against that Rex Ryan defense and I'll show you a team that punts a whole lot.

Yeah... not much.

:laugh2: Romo fumbled running the ball (so much ofr the "let's run the ball more" theory). :laugh2:

In order to be a good runing tem you need a solid OL. Ours is too new and too young to expect them to be stellar at run-blocking (which is much harder than pass blocking) right out of the gate.

Cuts down, not eliminates. I don't have stats and don't care to find them...but I'd say a team's turnovers are probably 80% on pass plays. That's my point. You're way more likely to have a turnover or negative play in the passing game. With a 7 point lead in the 4th quarter, on the goal line, run it twice, work the clock, kick a field goal. There's no reason to risk a pass.

They gave up 4 sacks it's not like they were doing a terrific job there either. I don't get the point. I don't care if your entire OLine is rookies...two yards is two yards.

They gave up sacks under enormous blitz pressure. While putting up points. The issue wasn't with pass blocking.

We can run the ball, too. But we do it when we have the space to pull the interior line. It's obvious Garrett doesn't trust our short yardage ground game. Perhaps, if we had our lead blocker on the roster, or if weren't playing such a good short yardage defense, the situation would have been different.

If Miles had broken outside for the back-shoulder fade the play before, we wouldn't be talking about play calling.
