Sorry, but I think this video board is ridiculous

This is what it reminds me of. Having something big for the sake of it being big. I don't get it. I think it looks crazy and takes away from the game.

The only way that it takes away from the game is if you let it. The screen is absolutely awesome.

Is it different if you're at the game?

Leave it to Jerry Jones to: 1. Think that because his punter couldn't hit the thing that no other kicker could, or that any kicker would want to try to hit it.
2. Charge $5K (or more) for season tickets and make you feel like you were in your own living room watching the game (for free, or the cost of the TV service).

To paraphrase Rowdy Yeats, Jerry needs to "Head 'em out and move it up"...

They said it was only set to one-quarter of its max brightness. Just once I'd like to see it cranked up to 100%.

Like people want to pay good money to go to the game and watch a big screen - not to mention one that gets hit by punts. This is just stupid.

First it is above the 85 foot NFL regulation. If you think about it, the fact that McBriar cant hit it is really all that matters since is it above regulations. Now every kicker that comes in here to play has to think about whether or not he is going to hit the stupid thing. I love it!

Make sure to invest in the Fort Worth Seeing-Eye-Dog corporation before that happens. Jackpot.

No, Jerry checked with the NFL to see what the standard rules were and placed the jumbotron in accordance to the NFL rules. Blame the NFL.

I don't believe Jerry when he says that the jumbotron can be raised...or if it can, it would likely cost Jerry a ton of money to do so. That being said, if it's the case, the league should foot the bill since they made the standards. Still, I think Trapasso was trying to hit it. It's a preseason game. The only punter I think that could hit it and not on purpose would be San Diego's Mike Scifres since he can kick it 45 yards and still get 5.0-5.5 seconds of hangtime. But just about every other punter can't hit it unintentially because they would probably only be kicking it about 30 yards.

True. But I will say that I think for the most part he's eliminated having a 'bad seat.' He does have those handful of obstructed view seats, (which I highly doubt anybody is getting a season ticket for), but with the jumbotron you're just not getting a bad seat. And according to the Web site, they sell plenty of season tix for $1,300. Even with the $1,500 PSL (which you only pay once), that is well below $5K.

Logically, that has to be false in reality. During the game, McBriar kicked a 63-yarder. That's 189 feet. The video board's only 90 feet up. If McBriar wanted to hit it, he would have.

Punters punt for distance employing a lower arc unless they're attempting to punt very shallow, in which case they attempt to punt with a higher arc. Stand McBriar anywhere between the 30 and 50 yard lines and he would hit it with ease also--if he was aiming for it.

Everyone should look at it another way. Trapasso kicked the ball at a much higher arc than McBriar. McBriar kicked a 63-yarder from approximately the same location. If Trapasso has a much stronger leg and that's the only explanation for why he hit the video board, that begs a question.

If he hadn't hit the video board, where does anyone think the ball would've landed? 70 yards? Endzone? Endzone seats?

Steve Austin, where are you?

Yeah because having to look through binoculars is a way better option.

Watch how a punter holds or drops the ball and that will tell you if he is trying to punt for distance or hang time. If he holds it by the top he is going for distance ... if he holds it by the bottom he is going for height or hang time. Go out and try this in your back yard to see the difference.

To be fair, I've only been to one game. Our seats were not spectacular, but they weren't in the tip top row, either. We were close to the end zone.

While it was completely awesome to be there in the environment, etc., I found the game difficult to watch because most of the time I couldn't really see what was happening, or even see the ball.

I think having the video board is a spectacular idea because it will actually keep people involved in the minutia of the game rather than waiting in line for more beer. (Although with the TVs near the food/drink vendors, I guess that's a semi-tolerable situation now.)

I was at the game on Friday and had absolutely no problem keeping my attention on the field. The video board was great for the post-play stuff though. They even show a replay from four different angles at the same time.

Some people will complain about anything. The gargantuan video board is a genius idea. Raise it, lower it, I don't care. The Dallas Cowboys have the biggest damn video board in the best damn stadium. Period. Opposing punters are afraid. Boo hoo hoo. Advantage Cowboys. The haters can't find anything wrong with the stadium. They are all in awe, so that intentionally lousy punt hitting the video board gave them something to latch on to. Sadly, some Cowboys fans have latched on also.

By the way, the art inside the stadium was freaking pure genius. I was at the stadium a few months ago and that place was pretty damn boring looking. Now with the art everywhere it has a ton of life. I'm so glad Jerry Jones let it happen.
