My opinion is, I generally don't care what a person does in the offseason, as long as his team is a winning franchise. For me personally, if I'm not getting my team anywhere, then I'm going to dedicate 110% to my team until we are a great team, and then I will do other things. He's hired to play football, and football is year around in pro, College, and now High School.

And who says he is not putting in the time and effort? Why because on a weekend he is out playing golf? Give me a break, having a life is not a bad thing for any player no one is spending 24/7 working out, these men have family and yes they need time away from the game and from moron reporters and idiot fans. No one is spending every waking minuet working out they have lives maybe fans should get one instead of putting unrealistic views on players.

People need to think before typing

The Flarety interview was from last year, I'm sure Romo still has a life as do all players outside of football. They do not go out 24/7 all year long, if you did you would get burned out. All this crap is stupid, Do you work 7 days a week no break just do your job? Get real
:lmao2:
Maybe he knows in the future that Joe would want to start another thread.
Yep...this is solid evidence.

I want some these guys to point out one single football player who does not do something other than football when he's away from the team.
There is no such person and no coach or GM would ever want one because that person would burn out and/or be suicidal.
Great pro atheletes find at least some balance in their life. At that most certainly included Peyton Manning and his 10,000 commercials, hunting and fishing trips, and other endeavors.

Bravo, this is exactly my point, till romo wins that championship, he should dedicate 110 % and more to cowboys win, being the best, not extra activities. I didn't say he couldn't play with his new son, etc, my only gripe is the extra golf/basketball and other avenues romo does. Till romo wins that championship, just like was posted above, if winning franchise he can then do whatever he wants. But are we a winning championship team, no, not since 95. Romo was hired and given ton of money to win, even espn is agreeing with me now. I agree at same times, its not all romos fault, its the whole team, even jerry jones to some degree, but now romo is getting tons of money, now romo is doing this, why didn't romo do this in first place.

It is stupid, Romo like any player has time away from the game they need it just like every day people need a break from their job. There is a ton of pressure that comes with the job Romo has and he does put in the work according to those who are there at Valley Ranch, If Romo gets in early and gets his workout in and later in the day goes plays golf who the frick cares.

Does this only pertain to Romo or does it pertain to the whole team, because I guarantee that not all the players on the team are putting in 110% or are putting in "Payton Manning" type of hours!

I know Romo gets paid more than everyone else, but he cannot do everything like some people want him to do.

You can pay Romo $75,000 a year and make him stay at Valley Ranch 24/7/365, and pay the rest of the players 9 mil a year each and it still might not win a SB. Yet, it will still be Romo's fault to some dolts!

It's a no win situation that Romo is in because if the team loses, regardless of whether it was the fault of the defense, the kicker, or special teams or the coaches, the kiddies and the grown-ups that just hate the guy will always blame him. How people can blame one man for the errors of 53 is beyond logic, but then again, some don't even know what logic is even if it bites them in the butt.

There, I have spoke my peace!

Bull ..... you always compare him to Troy Aikman who did all the same things even before he was winning championships.

You are just trolling Tony Romo like you do every year.

Hypocrite.

This is the same guy who claims he taught Tom Landry how to run the offense.

The same guy who claims he told Jason Garrett how to call certain plays.

So how is staying active taking away from his game? Oh my he may play a game of basketball, wow he stays in shape and keeps a competitive edge in the process Oh my. Same with golf. He is not taking anything away from the Cowboys by being active both mentally and physically during the off season.

I think sometimes we as a society like to say because B happened, then C happened that means that B made C happen forgetting all about A

Romo is no longer a bachelor, he's no longer a guy with a hot girlfriend/fiance/wife..... he is a father...and knowing that football season is going to take away a lot of his time to be with his son, he most likely has decided to hang up all this extra stuff so that he can spend quality time with his family, and his son. Because at the end of the day Family, is more important than some game be it golf, basketball, or football.

Maybe its time you guys stop looking for every chance to take a shot at people, and stop and look at the big picture. the contract was not the only thing that has changed in Romo's life since the last off-season. and the contract or Jerry jones is most likely not the reason why he's changing his off-season schedule.

How many hours per week has Romo been putting in for the last 6 years or however long it's been.

That is what is important and that is never mentioned.

For example, if he is putting in 10 hour days 5 days a week is that enough?

I think American fixation on time spent has more to do with how workers are paid moreso than anything else.

I am more interested in actual production. Goals that are set and achieved over a certain period of time.

Say for example player A takes 40 hours to breakdown all of the NE tape for the last 3 years to look at their 2TE offensive sets; whereas, player B takes 50 hours to do the same thing. Under joe and the overall American way of looking at things player B is viewed as more productive. That is asinine.

We are not in a position to see what work Romo does, nor do we even know how much time he spends doing it. Instead we are trying to backdoor into knowing the latter with media prodding and Jerry Jones' mouth.

I will just go back to my mantra: "I don't know and that is okay. I am not going to fill in the gaps on my own."

It sounds like they are tinkering with the offense to a greater degree than they have in the past. We will see what comes of it ourselves beginning in July.

I know he is. This is just something else for people to bash Romo for. Its silly to think that Romo doesn't or hasn't put in the time to be great.

Exactly

It's almost as if ineffeciency is celebrated in some circles.

Total hours spent does not equal results. In fact, in some cases it could begin to not only have diminishing returns but even negative returns.

Every top athlete should learn to find that balance because there is most certainly a tipping point for every single one of them.

It is why Parcells or Jimmy (and Belichick) would actually tell the team to go blow off steam or get away at times.
They return refreshed and ready to work doubly hard and with much more effeciency (mentally and physically).
