Exactly

It's almost as if ineffeciency is celebrated in some circles.

Total hours spent does not equal results. In fact, in some cases it could begin to not only have diminishing returns but even negative returns.

Every top athlete should learn to find that balance because there is most certainly a tipping point for every single one of them.

It is why Parcells or Jimmy (and Belichick) would actually tell the team to go blow off steam or get away at times.
They return refreshed and ready to work doubly hard and with much more effeciency (mentally and physically).

Oh so true, I know because it has happened to me in the IT field.

He played in February at Pebble Beach and was scheduled to play at the Azalea and Will County in March, but DROPPED OUT. She he changed his mind for whatever reason. He also plays the Ray Fischer tourney with his dad in JUNE. I hope he still does that. If he doesnt, daaaaaaamn he is serious about this commitment stuff.

I like Tony the golfer, so I am bummed:(

I was under the impression that once a few people brushed aside the usual sensationalistic crap the media portrayed when this subject was first reported on, that it was quite apparent the Cowboys never questioned TR's commitment. The whole idea of Romo spending more time at VR was to become more involved in play design, game management, play calling, etc.

Essentially involving him from design to execution gives him the opportunity to help get players and coaches all on the same page. Better audibles, no more flubbed or misread routes, no more missing blitz pick up by OL or RB's. A player coach and in my opinion, probably a very good one.

This could also be an indication of Garretts methods and strategy evolving. I've been impressed that Jason Garrett is not one to stand still or hang on stubbornly to things that don't work. I say it will payoff in the long run. I'm excited to watch it all unfold.

This is the same guy who claims he taught Tom Landry how to run the offense.

The same guy who claims he told Jason Garrett how to call certain plays.

totally wrong, I never said I taught landry how to run the offense. I said in march I took a book from pages that red hickey wrote, to cowboys, with shotgun formation. I gave that to all pro ex OG john wooten, do you know even who he was?

A week and half later, landry calls red hickey in (do you know even who red hickey was?), landry told him I want you to get with roger staubach and run the shotgun offense. I also found out why we were missing field goals in 75, sent a letter to tex schramn, schramn and gil brandt thanked me, they moved my season tickets from 1st level at 44 to the 8 row, at 25 yard line. sure enough Charlie waters was looking up at goal posts before Mexican kicker kicked 2 missed field goals that day. His top index finger and 4 finger would come off the ball, ball would tilt one way then the other in 2 missed field goals. Next game, Charlie kept his head down, all fingers and thumb on the ball, didn't miss any more field goals from Charlie not holding ball correctly,

I sent a few plays into Jason garrett, one where kicker was kicking ball at totally different angle, a good friend of mine here, contacted the cowboys, he has direct line even to jerry jones, and cowboys. cowboys said they were aware of angles kicker was missing field goals, but very strange because after that, hardly any missed field goals that year. I also sent them a play where T O was telegraphing his routes and when turning, what may I ask have you done?

I am just a fan who watches the team play

I am not delusional enough to think I am some sort of draft guru ......... nor am I delusional enough to think I gave football ideas to legendary football coaches or even first year coaches.

I am certainly not delusional enough to believe that even if they ever saw these notes I was trying to get to them, that they would pay any attention to the multitude of notes and messages they get from football experts who live with their mothers and think they know as much as the pro's who have been in the business most of their lives.

Thats what I have not done ...... and I am very happy I am not delusional enough to do it.

yes, totally true, for example, one year I won 4 sideline passes to cowboys practice in san Antonio, a year or 2 later, I had another chance to get some sidleline pass for just one day this time instead of 2 days last time. I asked my friend to ask dallas cowboys, if I could have those sideline passes for 2 days, they declined me, but my friend asked them nicely giving them my name, The Dallas Cowboys responding by saying we are well aware of who my name is. I still could have taken the one day sideline pass but wanted 2 days, so I turned it down.

I have 77 autographs, like tony dorsett autographed official jersey, drew pearson autographed football, and sideline catch photo of hail mary pass, much more, even autographed Jason garrett arena league card, and cowboys helmet, much more to. Even one time I met drew, and he asked when autographing one of my books, where did u get this book.

go watch one of my videos on youtube. dallascowboyjoe and I have a tv interview
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZYX4QIuqHk

theres much more but that's enough for now, my main point is any cowboys fan can do what I have done and more. for example, I will never forget, one fan called in on tex schramn show, told tex he saw that when Robert newhouse was going out for a pass, he would unbuckle his chinstrap so he could jump up to catch the ball better, sure enough, tex and cowboys looked into this, on film, jack pardee MLB for Commanders was hollering out pass pass when newhouse would go out for a pass, unbuckling his chinstrap.

we are all dallas cowboys fans, we all help in some way,

first, never said I was a draft guru, do I watch the draft post stuff, yes I have. but im not a draft guru, never will be. to me for someone to be talking about someone, complaining, they need to show something they have done to help his or her team. so, basically you've told me, you've done none of this. hmmmmmm, then basically u have nothing to complain about.

you have your right and your opinion, we all have that right, but you don't have any facts to back up stuff how you have helped the cowboys, for fact, ive met Alicia landry, even, and others.

ive talked to brad sham, and he likes talking to me, and questions I ask, there is no way that I could even begin to have football knowledge and cowboys knowledge he has, but we both support and help the cowboys in our own way and to a degree you do to by supporting watching the cowboys.

Bull ..... you always compare him to Troy Aikman who did all the same things even before he was winning championships.

You are just trolling Tony Romo like you do every year.

Hypocrite.
Why come into the thread if it bothers you so? All of your posts in this thread are pointed at one thing. Seems to me all you're doing is trolling the OP.

My respect to you Cowboy Joe, but it is ridiculous to believe that the reason the Cowboys have not won playoff games during the Romo era, is because Romo plays golf and does other things in the off season.

Ware, Witten, Ratliffe and others have exactly the same amount of playoff wins as Romo, what are they doing with their spare time? You see this game is a team game, and Romo has done his part to win many games they have lost, but the defense or coaching or other things beyond his control have costs them wins. Sure you can place for some of those losses on Romo, but to say that they haven't had more playoff success because of what he does or doesn't do in the off season is just plain stupid....

Like another poster said, is Jerry spending Ozzie type time being the GM of the Cowboys? He should be! Is Garrett putting in Harbaugh type time being head coach? Is Witten putting in Pitta time, or Ware putting in Suggs time in the off season? They get paid big money too!

Jerry especially should be doing everything, Ozzie like time, since he is fleecing us all.

People who expects Romo or any highly paid QB shouldn't have any life other than at their work is simply being unrealistic and selfish.

I'd suspect that Tony wants to spend some time with his son, who will only be this age once. Romo is looking at an upcoming seven months where he will be absolutely committed to football and not have a lot of free time. Spending some time now with his son seems absolutely appropriate to what I know about Tony Romo, the guy.

Essentially, a non-issue.

I think sometimes we as a society like to say because B happened, then C happened that means that B made C happen forgetting all about A

Romo is no longer a bachelor, he's no longer a guy with a hot girlfriend/fiance/wife..... he is a father...and knowing that football season is going to take away a lot of his time to be with his son, he most likely has decided to hang up all this extra stuff so that he can spend quality time with his family, and his son. Because at the end of the day Family, is more important than some game be it golf, basketball, or football.

Maybe its time you guys stop looking for every chance to take a shot at people, and stop and look at the big picture. the contract was not the only thing that has changed in Romo's life since the last off-season. and the contract or Jerry jones is most likely not the reason why he's changing his off-season schedule.

you knocked it out of the park. awesome post.
