I don't care if the following players don't play or practice in the preseason. Ware, Ratliff and Witten. Nothing good can come of it.

You are being sentimental. Sentimentality loses football games.

I agreed that it was a bad contract extension. I'm just saying he should have a bit more respect for a player who's been a very good Cowboy for a very long time.

No he hasn't earned the right. The dude signed a 5 year 40 million dollar deal. I'm sorry but is this not enough motivation to get back on the field once you're healthy?
Once he's healthy.

When he's healthy, he has practiced. By milk, I mean not practice when isn't 100%, not make some stuff up. And I think it would be a safe bet to say that the coaching staff/trainers have held him out of practice on purpose because they know just how valuable he is to this defense.[/quote]

agree.......many sit here and say it all ok to sign OG Waters late in camp without practice/ play in 18 months.......because he's a Vet and will pickup things on the go.........no diff than with Ratiff.........save the wear and tear on him I don't care..........just so he brings it gameday.

I seriously doubt Ratliff is here in 2014.

So he hurts his hammy in a conditioning test and it takes him out for over a month? Lol.

I can't wait to have the mutli-probowl player we were able to find in the 7th round off our roster, too. Finally, right?

People here have no respect for what players have given this team. They'd rather pick at injuries or confrontations that a frustrated player has with the owner or his DUI (which is inexcusable).

It's pretty sad to me.

I recognize Ratliff might not have anything left to give, but I sure respect what he has given enough to not treat him the same way many of our fans do. And I sure respect him more than I do them.

He had been recovering the previous six months from surgery for a sports hernia. I don't think the Cowboys want to take many chances with his health at this point in his career. Just keep him in condition and turn him loose when the season gets here.

Rat, to me, if not an every down player anyway...like many of you, I would like to see how he does in pre-season with the new scheme, but as long as he laces them up on sundays, I will be happy...he will be a rotational guy when he is in the game anyway, so that should keep him fresher when he is in there.

I really hope this is the case

Indeed, you don't know what you have until it's gone. The same can be said about Romo. I hope Rat's health holds up this season, if so, it would benefit our championship aspirations greatly.

My X factor this year. I predict Marinelli has him playing better than ever. I'm as excited for the move to the 4-3 for him as I am for Lee and Carter. I just feel this scheme is perfect for these 3 players in particular. Can't wait to see Ratliff shut a lot of people up.

I'd rather he sit out than come back and find another way to get injured that has him missing actual games. At least his absence is giving a lot of the younger guys reps, which might come in useful if Rat gets hurt again during the year.

Dont care too much about his practicing although some against our young guys would be good. He's great for scheme. He'll go as far as health allows.

Jay Ratliff will not practice while the team is in California, a source said, but there is no concern about his availability for the start of the season.

The Cowboys defensive tackle strained his hamstring during conditioning tests on the first day of training camp and was placed on the team’s physically unable to perform list. Club officials are pleased with his progress but want to remain cautious at this stage of camp.

The team plays in Oakland Friday and won’t return to the practice fields in Oxnard until Sunday. Five more practices are scheduled in Southern California before the team breaks camp on Aug. 16.

There’s a chance Ratliff will work back into practice before the team faces Cincinnati in the Cowboys first pre-season home game on Aug. 24.

We should have cut Ratliff after he drove drunk and caused an accident last year. It would have been bad enough if a member of our team hadn't been killed earlier in the year in a drunk driving accident. The fact that he got behind the wheel drunk after that makes me sick.
