Sources: Callahan to remain OC; continue to call plays

This team is such a joke.

This staff should be gone and young and hungry staff should be brought in.

Watching a guy like Jim Harbaugh really makes me sick knowing that kind of coach we have.

I truly believe Jerry doesn't think coaching matters.

Nah, I just like to bring the truth to the blind folks.

You do realize that Callahan said he forgot to take the tags off of certain plays, including the one Romo changed.

There are certain plays that are "DESIGNED" to be either a pass or a run depending on the defense pre-snap. Romo decides which play to call depending on how the defense is lined up, there is no veto power since those plays are designed to be either a pass or a run. Callahan said he forgot to take the tags off the playchart once they were ahead, meaning that if the tags are removed then Romo would not have the option to audible.

Romo is not vetoing plays that are called and just running what the hell he wants to, there are certain plays that are designed to be called either a run or a pass depending on how the defense lines up. Now if the tags are removed, then Romo does not have that option.

For somebody talking about bringing the truth to the blind, you sure are misinformed.

Yeah, uhmmm okay ...kill, kill, kill. That is NOT Romo changing the play. Gotcha.

Jerry thinks coaching is very important, thats why he is in charge. I think, in his delusional head, that he thinks of himself as the HC and Ginger is just the OC/ game day guy.

I think it was Jimmy that said Jerry thought of himself as the "walk around" coach. That pretty much says it all.

You know, I held out some hope that we could actually reverse our 2013 win-loss record, but this news makes me think our record stays the same.

Where'd this info come from, Beast? It's interesting, and I haven't heard it.

Uh, it's not. It's Romo calling off the first play he was GIVEN to switch to the other play he was GIVEN.

Unless you think "Kill kill kill" is the name of an actual play in the playbook.

Exactly. Some people clearly don't understand the nature of what Romo is doing. Beast from East explained it.

It's also why the coach can't blame Romo for throwing the ball in those situations. You've given him a system that allows, even mandates, him to change to a pass based on numbers in the box, single coverage, etc. Don't throw him under the bus when he takes the option that you've built into your system.

The local media has reported on the radio that Callahan's agent was the source of this rumor. They say that Jerry has guaranteed Callahan's job yet.

That's interesting. You think they might be waiting on a coach who's in the middle of a playoff push?

What's up Idgit.

After the Green Bay game, a couple of days later, Callahan came out and took responsibility for the loss because he forgot to take the tags off the play sheet. When asked about that he explained the process.

Pretty informative interview, it still might be on DC.com

A lot better than Garrett's, "it's not my fault, Callahan called the play and Romo changed it" presser. Way to throw the QB and the OC under the bus, and folks wonder why there are so many reports about coaches not getting along with Garrett.

That crossed my mind.

It's odd that they have not made an announcement to finalize the coaching staff if they really are not making any changes.

On the radio they something about Jerry giving Callahan an option on staying or leaving. I don't know if that indicates that he will be demoted from play caller if he stays or if the radio reporter has just been hanging around Jerry too long and is now talking in circles also.

It was clear that Garrett was calling plays in the final month.

This is a non-story.

...until Romo checked out of the play for something a little more edgy...like an INT in the worst possible times.
Garrett: "Tony, meet the underside of the bus"

This is about as ridiculous as Al Davis phoning down to the sidelines to 'throw it deep baby'.

I'd really like to be a fly on the wall when Romo talks to guys like Witten in private about the current HC/OC situation.

Of course when speaking with the media they're going to say the right things and be PC but Garrett really crossed the line when he threw Romo under the bus after the GB game. Romo is the only reason this team is competitive and Red is going to do him like that?

Yeah, exactly. Although the biggest giveaway is probably the fact that Callahan's agent is "leaking" information about his status, if that's where it came from. What does that accomplish unless you're anticipating being on the market soon? "My client is in good standing with his current employer. If he leaves, it will be of his own choice," etc.
