So what does that say about those proclaiming that Garrett took over play-calling duties from the Giants game on and specifically went to Hoss Jones to meekly ask for permission to run his team his way?

Did that happen?
Did Garrett take over play-calling at all? If he didn't, then he had no reason to go to Jones with his tail between his legs, right?
If he did- why would they keep the guy who was doing such a poor job that Hoss Jones' Walk-Around Trainee couldn't do his Walking Around? He had to call plays instead.

Who is having the disconnect here? I know I obviously am.
I was completely discouraged when I read that Garrett had to ask for permission to call plays from Da Boss.

I'd like to hope that this never happened (the asking for permission thing). Upon reading this- maybe it didn't.

To me..

This is meant to close the questions like last off-season about who is calling the plays.

Callahan..

Garrett..

…whomever.

If its for Romo..probably doesn't matter..

if its for Orton..

I'd prefer Callahan as he would probably be more conservative to keep the pressure off Orton..

and we would see more running and screen plays, bubble screens and less no-RB in the backfield formations.

Its what we need.

More depressing news, I am sure Kiffin will be retained as the DC. as well ....things are looking up:rolleyes:

But didn't the Princeton grade take over the play calling in the second Giants game..

Broaddus doesn't really have anymore inside information than you or I do.

He may not have the best inside information but he definitely has more acces than you and me. :)

You're saying that both the HC and the GM looked at Callahan's body of work this season- both of them intimately aware that his play-calling was SO bad that they had to replace him mid-season and yet they both want him back to do it again?
They BOTH want him back?

GM Jerry was over-ruled by HC/Owner Jerry...Later, HC/Owner Jerry convinced GM Jerry that Callahan wasn't that bad, LOL!

Disappointing if true, I really like the idea of Norv Turner returning to Dallas...

here comes your status quo approach. Why would Jerry change a thing...his net worth is at all-time high.

Until that changes, expect more. He could careless about winning another Superbowl in his lifetime. He has three that Jimmy gave him.

I disagree. He'd love to win more Super Bowls and, drunkenly, thinks he can pull it off. Therein lies the real problem. If he didn't care about winning, he'd pass the reins to a GM and just sit home counting his money.

So- pay a guy a lot of money to continue a lie to save face in front of the public? Even though it hampers the entire organization as a whole?

It happens every day in other walks of life- I guess why not entertain the possibility?

Yep. Stuff like that does happen every day. I'm not saying I agree with it if that's what's happening, but to be honest, it bothers me more that they are such bad liars about it. On the face of it, it did look to be pretty obvious that Garrett took over the play-calling.I won't say do sure, because I don't know for sure, but It sure did look that way to me.

As far as paying him? well Callahan has done a pretty good job with the OL. I'm fine with him continuing with that. If he's overpaid, who cares as long as it doesn't count against the cap. it's Jerry's money.

Offense wasn't the issue. Defense was. Only second 1000 yard rusher since emmitt retired. Dez played great. Tony had a +21 td to interception ratio. Our problem was defense. Kiffen better go.

Well the defense was A problem. But the main problem is when the coach can't coach and loses those close games like he did against Detroit and Green Bay.

Main problem with this team is that they don't know how to win so its much deeper than just the defense. Just blaming the defense is nothing more than a bandaid approach to the real problem - that real problem is EVERYTHING.

I'm beginning to have a feeling that Jerry doesn't want to pay a single cent for any more coaches for next year. He's gonna let Jason play out his contract and then clean house. At least, that's my hope.

Well, he's going to let Garrett play out his contract. I am not sure about the cleaning house part.

I will say, our offense did much better scoring last year than the year before. And the run game--when used--was much better.

I do believe these were both the product of Cally calling plays.
Somebody was responsible for the red zone improvement, especially the pass plays.

% of running plays that resulted in 1st down or TD
inside opponent's 20-yard line
2012: 32.6%
2013: 33.3%

% of pass plays that resulted in 1st down or TD
inside opponent's 20-yard line
2012: 25.6%
2013: 39.7%
