Sources: Tyron Smith to visit Dallas.....

USC tackle on mend from meniscus surgery Aaron Wilson

USC blue-chip offensive tackle Tyron Smith is scheduled to visit the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings, according to league sources with knowledge of the situation.

Smith didn't work out at the NFL scouting combine other than bench pressing 225 pounds 29 times as he was still recovering from lateral meniscus surgery.

oh wow a draft prospect visiting the cowboys, and this is news why. I'm sure nearly 30-40 draft prospects will visit the cowboys over the next month. It happens every year.

You really must hate the prospect of drafting Tyron Smith.

:laugh2: I think this is more accurate. With the exception of comments about PP, the posts I've noticed from him have all been pretty negative.

No, I just dont want to draft him at 9. I don't think drafting a project that early makes sense. Smith will take time to become a starter and this team needs to win now. We need a replacement for Colombo now.

there is a difference between negative and realistic.

Everyone falls in love with one player and are blinded by their problems and wont admit it.

I hate one thing and thats picking at 9 because I don't think there is a player at 9 thats worth the 9th spot.

I don't want a 3-4 DE at 9, this OT class isn't worth a top 10 pick. I'm not high on Prince either. I just think if your picking top 10 then you should get a starter and a teir 1 player.

Trading up for a tier 1 player or trading back and getting multiple picks and still getting a good player that can come in and start makes the most sense.

I don't know how you read thinks from me. Are my words in cap on your screen.

I just find it crazy that Tyron Smith is visiting Dallas makes the news and is a big deal. It's just like when the cowboys interviewed Cam Newton at the combine.

Dallas will have mutipple players visit just like how they interviewed mutiple players at the combine.

8 has hated pretty much of everything all the time from his posts.
Smith is frankly the best choice if we stay at 9. Unless Peterson falls but he won't I am pretty sure Dallas will take smith as long as everything checks out. Best upside; and played well in games. And outside of FS the biggest hole we have is RT. I would not be surprised in a few years to see him move to LT and Free to RT.

Alittle off subject but just wondering how many sacks he gave up this past year? I ask cause a friend of mine threw out a crazy number n was bashing him, so just wondering if anyone knew.

OMG I just dont get some people.

I haven't seen anything from Smith that makes me think he can play LT. I'm not drafting a RT at 9. Thats a waste of a pick when I can get a RT at 20-24. Trade abck and get a RT if you want to draft a RT. I would be ok with Smith at 20 just not 9.

I Like Carimi, Castanzo, and Sherrod more than Smith. All have proved and showed they can play LT but we don't need a LT we need a RT. Smith hasn't shown anything that proves he can play LT. He has never done it.

Take a deep breath and remember this is a fan forum, not an official Cowboys draft resource. It's all just talk, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Even you. :laugh2:

I would not take him with 9 overall but would be happy to get him. No doubt I have my own pet cats at OL but would be more than happy with a player of his caliber.

If we don't get Peterson and some gem does not drop to us, I hope we trade down some...Pick up Carimi and then possibly trade back up into the first.

Same here. I think 9 is a great spot to be in terms of getting a deal with a team wanting to move ahead of others. If that happens we can get a guy like Carimi and be able to get the extra pick and address some other needs with quality players

im totally on board with this strategy. I love carimi .

I am not buying that he is a RT only just yet because as ive said in other posts im not a scout or coach all i know is the kid was the best o-lineman in the country last year starting at LT. And just because a wes bunting type pontificates something in a column doesnt mean it's gospell. At the end of the day barring injury this kid is the safest O-lineman in the draft. For some safe isnt good enough i get that but for me i just want guys who can and are ready to play today so not worried about 3 years from now stuff changes way to fast in this league to try to predict that.
