Sources: Tyron Smith to visit Dallas...

I wouldn't be mad if the Cowboys grabbed Smith at #9. I think they would be getting a staple in the Cowboys offensive line for the next 10-12 years. IMO, it would be a very worthy pick.

oh wow a draft prospect visiting the cowboys, and this is news why. I'm sure nearly 30-40 draft prospects will visit the cowboys over the next month. It happens every year.
If it's not news, it's not something you think requires attention and it's not something you have interest in then why the hell would you take time to click the link, read it, comment on it and then defend your comment?

Are there people who refuse to believe we have interest in him?

I know there are many who do not want us to draft him. If there are some who do not believe we have interest in him it has to be a very small amount of people who are hiding under a rock.

Who is this Tyron Smith character? Is he any good?

I know for the fact that the Cowboys have inquired about him (a lot) but that could just as easily mean they are doing their due diligence to make sure they are okay not drafting him.

My hopes this year is we make the big boy move and go get Peterson. Other than that, I want Smith or Cameron Jordan. I am terrified of Jerry trading down too far and picking up Day 3 picks that won't amount too much. I'm a quality draft fan, not quantity.

If we do draft Smith it will mean to me that JASON GARRETT has signed off on him and since we are betting the farm on Jason, I am okay with that. Same things goes if we were to draft Solder or Castonzo there. Garrett is no fool. He knows the offensive line must improve for his offense to go. I just don't see Garrett signing off on a tackle unless he is convinced he will come in and improve the line.

No Thanks. Trade down for Carimi instead.

Yep, cause we all know trading down is what Jerry does best.:laugh2:

OMG I just dont get some people.

I haven't seen anything from Smith that makes me think he can play LT. I'm not drafting a RT at 9. Thats a waste of a pick when I can get a RT at 20-24. Trade abck and get a RT if you want to draft a RT. I would be ok with Smith at 20 just not 9.

I Like Carimi, Castanzo, and Sherrod more than Smith. All have proved and showed they can play LT but we don't need a LT we need a RT. Smith hasn't shown anything that proves he can play LT. He has never done it.

really cos most draft experts think he is gonna be best suited to LT. I would be more than happy, more than happy to take a 10 year starting RT at 9. You obviously have an agenda for your pet cat. Grow up.

how do I have an agenda. I just think Carimi is a better player right now and thats what matters. I want a RT that can come in and start right now and thats Carimi. I don't think Smith can.

You might love Smith but he has never played LT. The big draft "experts" have never said Smith can play LT, they all say in a few years he can develop into a LT.
They may be right he might develop but I don't want to take a chacne on that when I can get the sure RT in Carimi and extra picks.

Trading back and getting a starting RT for the next 10 years in Carimi and an extra 2nd and mayeb 3rd if we tradeback again is alot better than Smith at 9 to play RT, who isn't anybeter than Carimi IMO. He is only rated high because he has more potential at LT.

Mayock, McShay, Kiper all say Carimi is the most sure OT in this draft. He is a day one RT plug in. Non say that about Smith. All I here about SMith is his athletic ability and his potential. I just think Dallas needs a replacement for Colombo now and the best RT for right now is Carimi.

I wouldn't mind Smith at 17-21 but not at 9. He isn't a day one LT. You don't draft RT in the top 10.

Don't you think that if SMith could play LT in the NFL he would have at USC. Imean if he isn't good enough to play LT at USC and you and most other people thinks he is going to be the next best LT in the NFL history then why not just wait till next year and draft USC LT Matt Kalil. HE must be a better LT than Smith, so he should be worth a top 5 pick.

I'll kowtow to the Cowboys' scouting department and expertise if they've so judged that Tyron Smith can play LT, versus a message board worrywart who is troubled because he hasn't heard draft website pundits aka "experts" project Smith as a LT.

Ok, you do that and I will go off what I see in the way a player plays. Your going off the same scouting department that has done what with drafting OL in the recent past. I don't trust our scouting department to draft great OL. They have missed more than they have hit.

Dallas also has Von Miller, Patrick Peterson, Gabe Carimi, Anthony Castanzo, and several other players coming in for visits.

Look at how many players came in for visits last year and Dallas passed on many of them. Teams bring in players that they aren't even interested in but knows teams that are behind them are so they can make a trade on draft day.

That could be good or bad. I mean, if the guy were worth a top 10 pick, I don't think it would be a case where you would need more film on him then any other team has requested. If you have a top 10 player, then it's probably easy to see. If you are not sure, then you request more film because, theoretically, you still don't know right?

It could be a reach. You can look at that a couple of way IMO.

Oh, you mean you'll "go off what I see" from YouTube clips? And you've claimed that you've watched a few USC games, but do you really expect anyone to believe that you were isolating Tyron Smith's play individually snap-for-snap, what, five or six months ago before the NFL and college season was even over? Not to mention the fact it was way before Smith's name was even hinted at being a potential draft pick for Dallas?

And yes, the scouting department certainly isn't infallible for sure, but again, I'll kowtow to their experience, expertise and the fact they have access to real game footage of Tyron Smith playing at USC for the past couple of seasons. They have a much more comprehensive view of Smith's capabilties than just going off of your memory and a few YouTube clips.

I mean seriously, you've stated before that Smith didn't impress you because you didn't see him pancaking people. I trust our scouting department will have a much sophisticated approach to assessing a prospect.

I don't make any big deal over the Cowboys bringing in Smith or any of the other prospects. We agree on that point.

Can you say Jacobs Rogers?

I guess we should take Cameron Heyward off our board as well because he went to Ohio State

This just goes to show you that you really know nothing about smith. There was a very good reason he was at RT not LT. BUT you clearly do not know and have not bothered to find out. Well too bad. Whine all you want; we will be laughing at you.

So lets entertain the idea of the Cowboys taking Smith. If we do that, do you see Smith starting in his first year or even second year? I'm not sure I do. He has a lot of technique work he needs to master and he must get stronger. There is a good chance that if these things happen, we could have an All Pro type RT on our hands but that's a gamble. If we take him, what do we do at RT for the next Two seasons possibly?
