A source close to Steve Spagnuolo said that the Giants' defensive coordinator just decided to pull out of contention for the Commanders' head coaching job and remain in New York.

Developing. ...

Well, Mickey has always been a maverick of sorts. I'm looking forward to his continued coverage of the Cowboys, in print and timely Ranch Reports on the radio.

......to remain with the Giants.

Ok, now maybe we will hear from Capers!

Edit: Sorry mods, didn't see the other thread. I see a 'merge' in my near future.

We still have to deal with him in the division
We dealt with him just fine until a switch flipped in his front four. I think we scored 76 points against his defense in two games this year. His brilliance is overrated almost as much as Jason Garrett's.

You know that's sacrilege to say, right?

I remember hearing right after the game that, by half time, the Giants realized that neither TO nor TG were healthy enough to demand double coverage so they started focusing on bringing as much pressure as possible on Romo.

Argumentative Mickey Spagnuolo says..

Ah, so you thought I was going to Washington now, eh? Oh, so you were just ready to pencil me in for the Head Coaching spot, huh? Remember a few weeks back when I told you I was happy in New York? Remember when I said I wouldn't take just any coaching job? Didn't believe me, did ya? Did ya? Huh? Oh I see, so now you're all saying I made the right decision to stay, huh? Okay, I see how it is. Huh.

At least Garrett coached a record setting unit.

Spags treaded water until his front four showed him that he could drop 7 and get instant pressure. That kind of unit performance isn't sustainable.

Are you insinuating Mickey is condescending? I'm not sure I believe that.

Seriously.. And part of the reason we didn't dominate in the play-offs is because we had a gimpy TG, and TO coming off a high-ankle sprain. There were obviously issues in getting off the LOS at the snap and making cuts.

Hell, if TR didn't overthrow a wide-open TO, we would have won.

BTW, I don't even foresee the Tom staying that long. He'll probably have a horrible year, and people will call for his head. Spag knows he will be coaching the Giants within 2 years.

I'm not shocked by this move at all. I've said all along that I just didn't feel that Spags would take that crappy job. Why would he leave the G-Men who are champions this year (Rather you think it's luck, or skill, or whatever doesn't matter, they won it all) to take over a Commanders team that is a waste land thanks to the incredibly horrible job that Snyder does of managing the cap?

There is only two jobs that I'd like even less than the Skins and thats the Falcons and Raiders jobs.

hello Dom Capers

:star: I'm hoping this will help us bring Capers in now, and if Stewart's ego can't handle it, he'll just have to get over it, IMO.

Perhaps we'll hear something fairly soon about Capers joining us, or at least having "another" discussion with Jerry Jones about it.
