SPARQ Linebackers in the draft

Hes got beastly numbers at line of scrimmage. Think he be another linebacker we should get in the draft besides LVE.

Kiser has used his instincts, hustle, and powerful tackling to become one of the most productive linebackers (both against the run and as a pass rusher) in the country during his three years on the field with the Cavaliers. The two-time All-Maryland pick and Baltimore Sun's Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2012, Kiser redshirted his first year in Charlottesville. He made 15 tackles in 12 games as a reserve as a freshman, tying for the team lead with nine stops on special teams. Kiser was installed in the middle of the Cavs' defense in 2015 and finished his second-team All-ACC sophomore year with a conference-leading 115 tackles (13 for loss, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles). The hits kept coming in his junior campaign, as Kiser was a first-team Associated Press All-American and All-ACC pick after ranking third in the country with 11.2 tackles per game (134 total, 10 for loss, 6.5 sacks, seven passes defensed) and tying for fifth in the FBS with five forced fumbles. He ranked among the nation's leaders in tackles again in 2017, receiving third-team AP All-American and first-team All-ACC honors with 145 stops (50 solo), 9.5 for loss, five sacks, four pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries.

Because his surgically repaired thumb is still not 100-percent, Kiser didn’t participate in the bench press portion of the testing with the linebackers.

The former Gilman standout did everything else, however, and was a top performer according to NFL.com in the board jump, posting 121.0 inches, finishing eighth (out of 31) among linebackers.

Kiser was also a top performer in the three-cone, posting 7.05 seconds, finishing tenth.

He was also a top performer in the 20-yard shuttle, finishing a time of 4.24 seconds, which ranked him fifth among linebackers.

Kiser, measured in at 6-foot-2 and 238-pounds, ran faster than expected in the 40-yard dash with a 4.66, finishing 15th among the linebackers. He also posted a 35.5 inch vertical, which placed him eleventh among the linebackers in attendance.

The leader in the ACC in tackles for the last three seasons will have his next opportunity to impress NFL scouts ahead of the NFL Draft at UVA’s Pro Day tomorrow and he’s looking to build on that showing in Indianapolis two weeks ago.

I’ll break stuff if we take Jewell in the 3rd round.

I think LVE is the target but we if goes before us than either a coveted QB drops which will help us trade down or a guy like marcus davenport will drop .

Huge red flag there with Evans. Groin excuse is gone.
Evans, who did not run the 40 at the combine or Alabama’s first pro day, did not run yesterday. That left a very bad taste in the mouths of teams who purposely made the trip to watch his workout.

Several teams questioned Evans’ speed going into the predraft process, and the fact that he hasn’t yet run the 40 coupled with a vertical jump of just 30 inches and a broad jump of 9-foot-8 will raise further red flags about his athleticism.

Factor in terrific workouts by many of the linebackers at the combine (Lorenzo Carter, Leighton Vander Esch) and it adds up to bad news for Evans.
In a recent interview with Bobby Belt, Evans explained that he didn't run the 40 because he “really just wanted my film to speak for itself.“ That's certainly one way of answering that question, but it doesn't change the fact that Evans’ combine numbers are a huge red flag.

Dudes a heck of a football player. Pretty confident he'll be gone before our 3rd round selection.

Fine by me.

I am not using a 2nd round pick on a LB that has question marks about if he can hang athletically and physically in the NFL because someone might take him before our third or fourth round pick.

Hitch was a solid NFL starter...what is your bar, Kuechly?

Hitch was an average starter better suited as a spot starter/flex LB.

I would hope to try to do much better than that.

So far in third film on Micah Kiser. He doesn't have the kind of instincts like Josey Jewell.

Busy watching his film. So far he doesn't have sideline to sideline speed. Running backs will past him easily if they go outside.

Good enough for me. Gotta be able to run down ballcarriers all over th field. Visit well saved then.
