Does a whiff on trip count as a trip? It looked like Hutchinson missed his target, but the intent was there.

Obviously it does or did the blind female ref actually see someone get tripped and fall in her delusional mind? Not only did they gain 8 yards on the play but 15 more should have been tacked on and a new set of downs. Game most likely over had that play been called correctly.

The amount of coverage this has gotten is outrageous. The media won't stop talking about how Detroit got screwed and calling out the refs.

The Cowboys usually have at least one back breaking fathom call every game. A recent 15 yard clipping penalty comes to mind. Or 15 yard penalty for 12 men in the huddle, when there were never 12 men in the huddle. We had a touchdown called back because the refs never declared Edoga eligible. Any one remember the 15 yard penalty on Dan Bailey when Demarco Murray was playing for Philly. Murray ran out of bounce and ran into Bailey who caught him to keep Murray from falling down. Murray then slapped Bailey’s arms off him and the refs threw a flag on Bailey. I’m still bitter over that one.

It worked to a tee for Detroit since Hendershot got called for a bogus tripping penalty. If Campbell was any type of MAN, his first comment out of his mouth on his next Meet and Greet with the press would be this tripping call and that his man should have been called for and that his team probably would have given up a game winning TD to the Cowboys and that 2 point conversion play would have been played in his dreams and not on the field of play in Arlington, Texas.

Hendershot getting falsely accused of “tripping” is not the first time Dallas has had a problem with officials getting called for this extremely rare penalty.

I take you to 2019. Dallas vs New England

Travis Frederick called for tripping when he fell down. So what? Big deal you say? Well it was a critical 3rd and 1 play late in the 4th qtr in a game that Dallas lost 13-9. Zeke had gotten the 1st down on the play btw.

Also, not the first tripping call of the day that fateful November day. Tyron Smith had also been called for tripping earlier in the game. It turned a 2nd and 13 into a 2nd-and-23, effectively stalling the Dallas drive and leading to a punt that was blocked to give New England a short field (and eventually a touchdown) in the first quarter.

Unsure of the last time you have seen a team called for tripping twice in the same game? Well.. It turns out it has happened twice against the same team in the same game before, and it happened against Dallas, too.

There has been 2 games when one team got called for 2 tripping penalties since 2009.

The last time was Week 9 of 2014, when 2 tripping penalties were called against…
The Dallas Cowboys.

But yea, totally random right?
It appears that Cowboy opponents. are going to game officials before games and whispering sweet nothing in their ears.............

Negative attention on the refs is good attention, no matter if it's for us or not. Those *******s need to learn to how to do their jobs correctly.

Yea, that's realistic.

I don't think so.

This is from the rule book: "Tripping is the use of the leg or foot to obstruct any opponent (including a runner)"

Seems to me if you don't obstruct, it is not a penalty. But for certain if you don't even try to trip it should not be a penalty!

I see nothing in the rule book about attempted tripping being a penalty. When I watched the play in slow motion it looks like Hendershot is holding. When I watch it full speed, I changed my mind.

That was a blown call. I think the Cowboys should have worn their normal silver pants that they usually wear with the blue jerseys. The ref saw a leg in white pants do the trip, but she mis-attributed that to the Cowboy player. Both these teams wear silver helmets, which made the only color difference their jersey colors. With the Cowboys in silver pants and the lions in white ones, I don't believe that ref makes the same error.
