We have Dak, but Romo is great. He's better, and it's not even close, at this point in their careers.

Don't be obtuse, Waldo, you seem like a smart chap. I understand being driven by emotion. This is our Cowboys, I get it brother.

Prime Romo > Current Dak - no question.

Believe me, I want to be wrong.
I remember quite well the type of injuries that knocked out Romo the last 3 times.
Those hits did not look that bad.
I think Dak just walks away from those...
Someone should post a video of those 3 hits on this thread.

Before we trade Tony and leave Dak on good own, let's remember we've beaten two of worst teams in the league and a jr. high QB.

I love everything I've seen in Dak so far, but let's not pretend Romo hasn't beaten crappy teams before.

I'm on the side of a post Philly game return, for the record.

I agree with all of this, Waldo. It is very disconcerting. But I, myself, have faith and hope :)

I apologize to all of those that I have come across as a condescending *** to. Everyone has a right to their opinion (except @Gabe :) ) and it's wrong of me to be so mean spirited and confrontational to fellow Cowboy brethren.

My thoughts on this very subject (of the OP) are on page 6 or 7 of this thread (*edit, it's 9) for those that care. For those that don't, just know that I'm sorry.

I wanted to do this publicly. **** condescending people.

Then we'd likely spend at least $5M on a new backup QB, making cutting Romo pointless. I'd only get rid of Romo if his entire $24M came off the books, which is likely impossible.
It's not that simple. Keeping him in 2017 adds 10M to future years; whereas, the 19M is the end of his cap charges if cut.

KJJ loves to set up false parameters and then move them to fit his narrative

Look who's talking the guy that said a dozen teams would trade a #1 and more for Romo, then promptly did a 180 naming only 8 teams saying they would have traded for him BEFORE any injuries, while backing off your original claim they would trade a #1 for him. lol Watching you backpedal was hilarious.

I got this wierd idea.

I was thinking, gosh, as long as we have two quarterbacks capable of being highly productive starters and as long as injuries are a reality in the NFL.....let's keep both.

I know it's far fetched.

At this point in their careers Dak is much younger/healthier than Romo and much more capable of withstanding the rigors of being an NFL QB. Dak is playing pretty damn good football at this point and Romo would have a tough time matching his 67.9 completion percentage along with his 98.5 passer rating and I doubt very seriously Romo would have no INT's/turnovers after 4 games. He may have more TD passes but I can't imagine after all the injuries that he could play any better than we've seen Dak play. We have no idea where Romo's game is at this point. He hasn't played a regular season game since Nov of last year. Since his last regular season game he re broke his collar bone and suffered a broken back.

I'm not so sure Dak isn't better than Romo at this point in their careers based on Romo's injuries/inactivity and the progress Dak has made. The only thing Romo has over Dak is at this point is experience. You like many are still stuck in 2014 with Romo. If you want to gage what Romo we might get if he plays this season, don't go back to 2014 go back to last season and see the Romo we got after a broken collar bone and several missed games. Returning from a broken back after 8 straight missed games and counting is going to be a a lot more challenging than coming back from what he endured last season. He even got less preseason work this summer than last summer.

If he plays 8 games and looks like 2015 Peyton then we will adjust....but I expect to see 2014 Tony with this OL and RB

You just proved what I've been saying you're stuck in 2014 with Romo. Our OL and league leading RB in 2014 didn't keep him from being injured that season. Our OL and McFadden having a few big games didn't keep him from being injured twice last season costing him 12 games. Dak has survived some hits this season that Romo probably wouldn't have. Unless he changes his game and stops hanging onto the ball trying to extend plays he's going to end up being rag dolled again.

He only lasted 3 series in preseason when everyone is just trying to workout rust from the offseason. We were doing everything we could to devise and game plan to try and keep him healthy and he ends having his back broken. Putting him out there after missing half the season or more with a broken back against players in midseason form would be suicide. One missed block or one too many Houdini spins and he'll get planted and be done!

I hate it might end like this. Really don't want to see Romo in another jersey...

Nothing was tougher for me than to see Emmitt in another jersey especially playing against the Cowboys.

Anybody saying "move on after this year" for cap reasons obviously isn't taking into account that Romo could redo his contract if that was even a thought of the front office. I think this front office wants Romo to retire a Cowboy. Much like the Packers wanted Favre to retire a Packer(and he would have had he not retired then unretired)

Not when one is making $30 million, fragile, and can't make it past 3 plays before getting hurt again.

There won't be any re-doing of Romo's contract unless he's willing to take less money and give back a significant portion of his signing bonus. So much money has been pushed back, that these last few years are a cap hell because of his bloated salary.

I don't mind paying him if he were leading us to playoff wins, but he's been on the sidelines nursing numerous injuries and can't help us a lick. $30 mil to sit and watch isn't fine by my book. That money could fix out D.

I'm pretty sure you know the answer to that question ...

Lol!! Well, I don't. If I did I would go buy some powerball tickets and be rich.

But that response made me smile. You are resolute in your stance, I'll give you that!

But no, bro, we don't know. And we won't, until he comes back.

Romo is not going to volunteer to play for less money.
