Tony's contract is very team friendly for a trade.....he is due 3/44m with 0 money guaranteed

His 2017 salary is 14m or just about what Ryan Fitzpatrick got

DAL even saves 5m on the cap if they trade him and will have no dead money to carry forward after 2017

He would fetch at least a 1st and probably multiple picks

If he finishes the seasons healthy and productive, I can guarantee someone will pay a first, especially with a strong defense like the Jets or the 'Phins. You don't have seven/eight year windows anymore, if you have a shot you take it.

There won't be any re-doing of Romo's contract unless he's willing to take less money and give back a significant portion of his signing bonus. So much money has been pushed back, that these last few years are a cap hell because of his bloated salary.

I don't mind paying him if he were leading us to playoff wins, but he's been on the sidelines nursing numerous injuries and can't help us a lick. $30 mil to sit and watch isn't fine by my book. That money could fix out D.

No cap hell. The Cowboys gain 5M in cap space in 2017 if Romo is cut or traded.

Prime Romo > Current Dak - no question.

Believe me, I want to be wrong.
I remember quite well the type of injuries that knocked out Romo the last 3 times.
Those hits did not look that bad.
I think Dak just walks away from those...
Someone should post a video of those 3 hits on this thread.

The problem is you're looking for "hits" and not the torque that is being applied.

Unlikely that any QB doesn't suffer inuries with the exact same "hits" in the same positions.

I'll guarantee you'll be wrong, no one will give up a #1 for him with all the missed games and injuries he's suffered the past 2 seasons. It's not the defense he needs to stay on the field, it's a solid OL to protect him and a strong running game that keeps him from having to air it out every week. Not even the best OL in the league has been able to keep him healthy he took 29 sacks the last full season he played. The Jets and Dolphins aren't contenders they're currently 1-3. Romo would be in a position to have to carry those teams. It's going to take a strong contender who feels they're a QB away from reaching the SB and would be willing to bank Romo can last one season for them to make a move and it will be for less than a #1 pick.

If Romo doesn't play this season his trade value will go down because no one will know where his game is after suffering a broken back. Playing only 4 games in 2 seasons due to injuries and him being 37 next season will make him a real risk for any team to go forward with. He's never going to be totally healthy which is why the Cowboys have had to give him rest days in practice since his back surgery. They've been doing everything to try and keep him on the field but the punishment the past two seasons has clearly taken it's toll on him and he may be one only more solid hit away from having to retire.

Who are your 20 better QBs, Waldo? I'll do you a solid, just list the teams.

He's talking about Romo with his medical history. His injuries and missed games have dropped his ranking considerably the past 2 seasons. He pointed out Romo would be top 5 without the injury issues the past 2 seasons. He certainly was a top 5 QB in 2014. He's not saying there's 20 QBs better than Romo but with his injuries and missed games the past couple of seasons a lot of QBs would be ranked ahead of him "currently." I mentioned there's current rankings that don't even have Romo listed amongst the top 32 starting QBs because he hasn't been playing.

I know KJJ, Waldo and I cleared it up. But thanks for expounding. :)

Oh, we was number 1 in 2014 (regular season)

Oh, we was number 1 in 2014 (regular season)

Not according to the MVP votes, Aaron Rodgers was and it wasn't close. The reason being he passed for over 600 more yards than Romo and had 4 more TD passes. Romo's passer rating was slightly higher but Rodgers was more productive. Rodgers beat Romo head to head in the playoffs. Romo was more of a game manager in 2014 passing for the fewest yards of his career in which he played at least 15 games. The team rode Murray that season while the Packers depended on Rodgers.

I know the truth hurts but you need to take your FAN cap off because I'm provided you with some facts. Rodgers received 31 MVP votes compared to 2 for Romo in 2014. Rodgers carried the Packers that season while the Cowboys were carried by Murray and his 1800 plus rushing yards. Romo had a great season but he was able to manage games due to the Cowboys riding Murray all season. Romo had a career low in passing attempts in which he played at least 15 games and the MVP is almost always awarded to the player who carries their team.

What team is gonna take a 36 year old QB with THAT contract ......a twice broke back and a thrice broke collarbone?
Good point, who on earth would do that? Like seriously, remember when that one team tried to trade a 36 yr old quarterback with two neck injuries who was deemed unfit to ever play the game again and ended up getting embarrassed n laughed outta the room?? Oh wait.... (by the way I am talking about Peyton Manning n the Denver Broncos)

Peyton Manning had a few more skins on the wall than Romo plus he didn't have the assortment of injuries that Romo keeps coming up with. He didn't take near as many sacks as Romo. It's been one injury after another with Romo the past two seasons. Denver banked that Manning would recover from his injury and it paid off. Romo keeps breaking bones, his injuries never seem to end. If it's not one thing it's another. That's how it's gone the past two years.

Why wait? He'll just come back and get injured again. It's like getting a used car detailed before selling it. The potential buyer sees a nice shiney "new" vehicle, capable of getting him from point A to point B in style. He sees himself rolling with top down, rolling by potential "mates"giving him the googley eyes for his sweet ride. The current owner remembers the water pump exploding and the car overheating. The car runs fine now but you always worry about that potential head gasket failure down the road. The owner also knows about that squeaking wheel bearing that will need to be changed sooner than later. There's also the sticking climate control knob and the AC blower motor blowing a fuse every now and then on the hottest of days. Time to part ways with the clunker. Besides, he has a nice new truck sitting in the garage.....
