Speculation: Arthur Brown potential deal in the works?

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Ravens ILB Arthur Brown has been the subject of trade discussions.
Brown is buried on the Ravens' depth chart after losing his starting job to rookie C.J. Mosley. He played zero defensive snaps in Week 1, and doesn't contribute on special teams. Brown has tons of talent though, so it makes sense teams are interested. The linebacker-needy Cowboys could make sense as a landing spot.

Pure specualtion at this point but could make some sense.

Unless he starts right away, since he doesn't play ST's, I can't see it, but one never knows.

Don't we need OLB's? McClain played great so Brown would have to be taking Durant's position for this to make any amount of sense.

Would he start? McClain seems to be our main at MLB. He had way more upside than any LBer coming out of the draft, and he's flashed glimpses of his potential. Then there's Carter. He seemed to find a home at SLB and he has insane physical ability. Then there's Durant. He's a natural WLB and a consistent veteran. Problem with Durant is his ceiling isn't very high. So who loses their starting job out of the three? And then who else loses their job next year when Sean Lee returns?

Don't see the Cowboys interested, unless the asking price is peanuts and a warm bottle of JW.

While he may be better than Hitchens, the lack of ST play is concerning.

I understand that... but I'm not looking at it as anything other than getting a bench player from another team... meaning not a lot of compensation. I'd much rather have Brown than Cameron, even if Cam plays special teams and Brown doesn't.

For anything other than a cheap price though, and I agree with you.

What's a cheap price? I'd say 5th or later.

He could be a depth player. I don't really know much about him, but he could probably be a Durant 2.0, who is somewhat versatile.

I read this as 'Arthur Blank' in my head and was thoroughly confused for a second there. Interesting tidbit, though.

I always thought this guy would develop into a special player.

We'll take him.

Brown can play any of the three 43 Backer spots.
If he gets it mentally, he would be an immediate upgrade over Durant at the Will.

And let's not forget, Durant suffered injuries last year and is already nicked up.

Not to get too far ahead, but next year a LB core of Lee, McClain, Durant, Carter, Brown, Hitchens and maybe even Wilber doesn't look too bad. You'd be able to soak up any significant injuries and probably have some decent competition for the starting spots, which I think is always a good thing. Maybe it would allow us more flexibility in the draft.
