Speculation: Escobar to Houston?

Escobar, McFadden and Dunbar to for Clowney. Heck we will give them a 7th round conditional to a 5th.

They don't need a RB though. that is the problem with that.

So replace McFadden with Leary. Doubt we can re sign him anyway

You must have not seen any Texans games this year. I used to say he was trash too but he has been a beast this season. He's is having a Mo Claiborne type breakout season

2 sacks and 27 tackles. Thats ok production.

In a conversation with a friend of mine (does not play for Dallas) who shares the same agent as Escobar, made a weird statement in a conversation we were having. It could very well be nothing, take it for what its worth.

Me: You think we going to the playoffs?

Friend: You act like you are part of the team, but yeah "y'all" will be there.

Me: Don't be mad because you stealing checks right now, I guess that's a credit to your agent though.

Friend: <laughing> You make a living off of hating, I guess he got your boy Gavin stealing checks over there too.

Me: Oh ok, I see. At least he will be part of a Superbowl contender.

Friend: Oh yeah? He needs to worry about his *** being traded to Houston.

Me: What?

Friend: Naw, naw, I am just saying.

I tried to pull more out of him, but there wasn't any more, and he downplayed what he was saying. Like I said, could be and probably is nothing, but interesting nonetheless. I do know that sometimes things are in the works, get reported as rumors, but then fall through.

Just thought I'd share.

Tell me, does this "Friend" work at a liquor store?

Only thing is, we need Leary right now. No way they would trade him. Our pass rush is not that dire. It's still a work in progress.

Tried to confirm with my friend....

Me: Yo dawg, what's up wit Escobar to H-town?

Friend: Yous trippin.

Me: For realz?

Friend: Dayummm ..you got no milk?! Y'all never have two things that match!

Me: Use water. It won't hurt.

If he's not traded, I see him being cut. When Hanna is ready to come back, the team will need the roster space. If the Cowboys have no intention to use him - and they obviously don't - why not try to get something for him if you can before he's gone next year and you get nothing? Unless there's a comp pick to be involved that I don't know about.

He won't be cut. We like those supplemental picks.

I saw the one last week where he gets helped up off the field.
And maybe "trash" is too strong a word. But he DEFINITELY has not lived up to his draft status, and that doesn't surprise me.
If you're taken No. 1 overall, I expect you to perform like Reggie White not Slappy White (maybe before your time).

I just can't imagine Escobars trade value being very high. That being said I'd move him if Hanna was ready to return. Get what we can and move on. The Escobar bashing threads in here are beyond old.

Clowney is trash. I said it before the draft, and I'll say it now. I wouldn't trust this guy with the game on the line. He just doesn't have the heart to play football, not one that matches his tremendous skill set.
So, you're saying you wouldn't take Clowney straight up for Escobar?

I'm not sure.

When Hanna gets healthy, they will need a roster spot and Escobar is obviously not in the plans, now or in the future. And, depending on the supplemental pick that may or may not even apply, it might make more sense to try to get something now.

So, when you don't have a qb the logical thing to do is trade for a TE

The 'inconvenient truth' everybody wants to ignore and quickly move on from.

I don't know if anyone is ignoring it per se, but being perfect on all of our 1st round picks and getting some late round success has helped soften the blown 2nd rounders

I still think, in the right situation, Escobar ought to be a really good role player. We've assembled some decent players with better blocking skills around him, so I see why he's losing snaps, but it still surprises me. I've said it before, but last year when Dunbar went down and before we put Cassel in the lineup is where I expected Escobar to be a matchup player for us, and then....nothing.

At this point, he's only holding a roster spot as long as Hanna is out. If we can get anything for him, we ought to.
