So with the signing of Butler I got to thinking about speed. Most of us have wanted speed inserted into our offense and now we have it. What's the best to get the offense passing game rolling...........

Butler and Thompson outside receivers

Austin is the slot

Zeke in the backfield

Rico at TE

That lineup to me could really cause problems to opposing defenses. You can stretch the field and also run the ball with Zeke. A ton of options with this lineup.

Any thoughts on this my fellow brothers and sisters?

Speed is a nice asset to have, but precise route running and good hands are the most important factors for a receiver (obviously some degree of speed is needed for every receiver). I don't feel we have to have a "speed package". We just have to occasionally use these guys and take advantage of their speed whenever they play. It works better when not advertised.

As a package that gives the defense something new to think about? Absolutely.

As the new starting rotation? No.

As another package, I'd like to see 10 personnel, with Austin lining up in the backfield as a flanker to Zeke. Endless possibilities with that, as well.

The point of stretching the field with speed is opening up underneath stuff, right? So I'm not sure that you want all speed everywhere because you're going to want route runners to take advantage of the space made by the sprinters

Speed is good and I’d like to see this line-up on occasion. But quickness sometimes is better. Cole is the quickest and best out of his cuts of all our receivers...and one of the quickest in the league.

I would go with 3 receiver set with Butler, Tompson and Austin. Bailey as the slot receiver. With Zeke as the Single back. Our TEs are so ineffective. So I think its best to spread the field. Make the defense play the entire field and not crowd the middle. I'm sick of the two TE set. Its so boring, ineffective and useless. Just like Garrett and Linehan.

I like that idea

Keep swaim as the TE. Keep him in to help block for a moment then let him sneak out after the speedy guys have already drawn the attention of the safeties.
