Speedy junior cornerback Patrick Peterson will be remembered as one of L.S.U.'s great

I wasn't trying to put you on the spot, just offering my advice based on what I've seen. I'm on board with us grabbing the safety prospect (Peterson) over the corner prospect (Prince).

I only want Peterson more because I think safety is a much bigger need right now.

I am content w Jenkins, Newman, and Scandy.

As the days go by though, I am slowly but surely leaning to wanting Quinn over anyone else.

I am very high on Quinn as well. Couple that with my hatred for Anthony Spencer and he is my #1 backup plan if Peterson is off the board.

It would take an extremely strong combine performance for Quinn to pass Peterson for me though.

Honestly, very little. I'm trying to expand my work when I have free time but I got so many things in the works I dont have a lot of that to go around.

I have been focusing on small school athletes on the East Coast. It's not something I want to do it's just required right now if you know what I mean.

Like my dad keeps reminding me,
"Gotta do what you gotta do to get to where you want to be"

There is a interesting TE from Fordham by the name of Stephen Skelton I can tell you all about.:p:
Love to hear about him. I'm a tight end junkie. I would prefer to carry 4 TE's and no fullbacks, even though I know most would hate that.

Would rather put him at CB and move Newman to FS. This kid can cover from what film I have seen.

I am extremely high on Quinn and want him more than anyone in this draft class. He will impress at the combine for sure. I think he is D Ware II

A tidbit on Quinn: As a freshman he broke the UNC 40 record by a dlineman (held by Julius Peppers). He ran the 40 in a 4.38, .15 faster than Peppers.

Quinn also holds the record for the power clean, and benches almost 400 lbs. Quinn probably only runs a 4.5 at the combine but that is not half bad for someone just shy of 270 lbs. Teammate Deunta Williams has nicknamed him Hercules.

Newman is made of glass, he would never hold up as a Safety. He is not nearly physical enough either.

I think he is physical enough. He has proven he can tackle and make some good hits.

However your other point is the one we would have to worry about if we moved him to safety...it seems like he always has a few injuries during the year.

What makes people think Newman can play FS?

Even suggesting something like that got you laughed at around here just a year ago, what changed?

I was wondering what that was about in that video. He is cleaning and the whole room erupts.

He must have done that at 19 years old.

I dont think Newman tracks the football well enough to be a safety.

I ask the same question because just the thought of it makes me laugh.

Newman is a lean 5'11" 185-190ish cornerback that is well-known to make "business decisions" when it comes to tackling. Now Newman can make a tackle, but he's not the guy I want manning the safety position where tackling becomes even more critical and not just an option.

As others have already kind of stated.

Prince looks kind of the type that will be good in pass defense but not be a big playmaker. By that I mean he might do a good job covering but maybe not take the chances that some play makers do and get a good deal of INTs.

Peterson seems more like the playmaker type. By that I mean he will take some gambles and when it pays off, it can pay off huge with his return ability.

Now I am not sure what someone wants more. The idea of someone that plays it safer or someone who is going to take risks with the chance of high reward.

I personally like Peterson. I think we have lacked that type of player in our secondary. A player that will occasionally take risks, jump routes, make big plays...get interceptions instead of just knocking the ball down. Sure there might be larger risks when doing those things but the reward can be much higher.

Plus with him you have someone who can play CB and most agree that he can be moved to S without a problem.

I don't think Prince is terrible by any means. He seems to be a reliable player who just might not take as many risks.

I would not be upset if we took prince because Peterson was already taken. However I would be upset if we took Prince over Peterson.

If we're talking converting corners to safety, I'd much prefer to see Scandrick give it a shot. He's not the biggest guy, but he's a willing tackler and a good blitzer off the slot.

i suppose that peterson would offer more versatility in that he could play either cb or safety. though if peterson weighs in at 220 lbs or so at the combine, that's pretty big for a cb!

quinn does seem interesting. but i'm wondering what the heck happened to spencer this season - like many of our defensive starters, he didn't play as well as he could have.

if we stay between picks 5-10, it's more important to get the sure thing, imo, given the state of the team and the money involved.
