here we go again! By the way for all you Miles bashing, feel a little silly? An injury is an injury. Like Miles Spencer is a warrior. On the other hand, the Ratliff, deal is weird. He was one of the most hard nose palyers on the team. Just dont know what to think about his deal.. Wasnt long ago I was somewhat comparing him to Randy White.

You had me right up until you mentioned rat in the same sentence with randy white. Not even somewhat

Spencer has the rest of his life and career to think about with this. He'll be back by game 4 at the lastest imo. He's a beast and is hands down one of the best defensive players on this team for years now. I hope somehow we can resign him. He can have my patience.

Hold that thought , spencer is not a warrior . He has faded in and out of games throughout his career and even admitted to not going all out every play( 2 years ago ) he is a good player when he wants to be nothing more nothing less . BUT I want my team to give 100 % every play . Espiecially when your getting paid 11 freaking million dollars . End of story

He's never admitted to not going all out every play.

Also, alot of his sacks and tackles, he gets by his continued pursuit of the play.. which tells me he's not out there dogging it.

Of course, most of us realize that already.

first, he never said he did'nt go all out in games. second, he did'nt determine how much he gets paid, the team did. i suspect he would have rather just became a free agent

While I agree with you I believe the OP is sorta correct when a couple of years ago Spencer did say he took plays off during the game. Then went on to say he learned his lesson about what it takes to be a great player and committed to do that. I think Spencer is a hellva player and I am glad he is on our team. I hope we figure out a way to keep him here.

I remember reading something about this as well.

I agree that Spencer is a heck of a player -- probably the best defensive player last year -- but there is no way I see him reducing his asking price and staying with the Cowboys; he will want a sweet deal and the Cowboys will not be able to accommodate him.

I wonder if Spencer is regretting not signing his extension yet.

I really wish they would of made the tough decisions and let Ratliff and Spencer go! That CAP money could of been used a lot more wisely imo.

They planned this one. Step in the right direction compared to the last 2 months of unplanned days off.

I agree, I don't think he will stay.. I just would like to see it happen.

I can't agree with this one. Rat I can see, even though I think he will be a force if he gets healthy but at this point, that is a big IF, so I can see it if they had released him. But Spencer, we have no one on our team that can step in and play at his level. Its not even close. He brings so much to the table. This is where the Crawford injury really hurts. We could have seen if Crawford could be the next guy up while still having the guy in place. Now we have to make a decision on what is basically blind faith that Crawford or a draft pick can step in and be productive right away.

"You can't mail days in in this league," Spencer told me in a phone interview Thursday. "And I definitely found I was doing that last year."

Spencer told me he was reviewing game tapes from last season and spotting mistakes he'd made that didn't make any sense to him. In the pass rush, he'd take the wrong angle or attack the line at the wrong spot -- little detail things he knows not to do but was doing anyway. So he decided to investigate further, and he dug up some practice tapes. What he saw there was a guy wearing his uniform but not always working very hard on those little detail things in practice.

"So this year, definitely been focusing more in practice," Spencer said. "That's been my big thing, and I think it's going to make a big difference."

Don't know if that proves your point or mine but there it is for what its worth. Either way, not a good thing on his part. But I think he has grown from that and is really a great player now.

he practiced yesterday and was'nt sheduled to practice today. normal procedure, you want to see if there is any swelling from the work he did yesterday. i suspect he will be on the field some come sunday. may take a week or two to be back to full strength and conditioning

True, pretty much what NY had to do with JPP since he was coming back after missing a lot of time. I suspect Selvie will start and Spencer will get rotated in and out of the game. Granted much will depend on if the knee swells up or not

i think he admitted something that many football players do. they don't realize just how important every litle thing is. and he appears to have learned from it. but he was never talking about taking plays off in games, he was talking about taking plays off in practice and how that effected his game

This was a planned day off for Anthony Spencer. Will be back for practice Friday. No setback.

Sounds like a non-issue to me.

Spencer needs to stay off his injured leg until he is ready. It makes no sense to rush him back too soon. And from all his comments and the coaches' comments, Spencer will not get significant game reps. May as well rest him and keep him inactive for another game until he can contribute at a high level. 4-3 will wear out DL because they are always attacking so Cowboys will need as many guys in rotation who can go 100% when they are in. Why risk injuring him further? Playing him when he is not ready does not make good business sense.

His snaps will be limited since he didn't play in the preseason. I got this gist this was part of the CBA but I'm assuming that.
