I think we will be pleasantly surprised when Rat comes back (or at least I hope so)

I sure hope you're right DC.
I don't know what to make of the whole rat situation. Seems like he has soured on the organization as a whole and vice versa but, if he gets healthy and plays hard there's no doubt he could really help us in an area of need.

Neither of those links shows Spencer's full comments on the subject.. keep looking, P.

I can see why you'd be confused after reading articles like that, though.

That's what you call partially quoting a player to make your own story. When you read his full quote in context, then you realize what he's saying: that he wasn't executing as well as he could in games, and after reviewing practice tapes he realized it was because he wasn't giving as much effort and detail to practicing that he should have. He said that was going to change and, guess what, Anthony Spencer had his best year after that. That was an honest man giving an honest evaluation about himself, then making a promise to change and keeping that promise.

Had his best year when 1/2 of our D was hurt not hard to look good when your the last man standing be a diff story if he played like this for more than 1 yr. Now we are waiting on a player that we paid 11 mil to come back from injury to play DE a position he has never played before in the NFL:confused: Just a waste of money and a bad call by the front office they should have moved on. Just wish i could have seen how much better the team would have been Sunday (The D line looked just fine without him) night with another 11 mil spent in the trenches.

Negative he clearly said he didn't go all out every play . I'll post the link later . Glad this is his last year here. We don't want players like him and Ratliff here anymore .

Oh my, your sadly mistaken. He was the best defensive player on the field last year and one of the main reasons we had a chance at the playoffs. He had a knee operation and trying to heal and 99% of that is out of his control.
Check your TV screen and you'll note every player takes plays off to a certain extent, he was just man enough or ignorant enough to admit it.
Ratliff is a whole other case. Should not compare the two.

Every now and then there are threads that are just such a pleasant crossection of what's good and bad about CZ that you have to just sit back and enjoy them. Popping off early, being wrong, standing your ground. Someone chirps in with a Selvie > Spencer take. Then a mod or somebody comes in with the actual story, positions get carefully shuffled. Some posters bother to be sensible. OP and others on the OP bandwagon accept none of it. This one is like it's own little self-sustaining ecosystem. If we left it open long enough, and people cared more, it would eventually loop back around to where it started again, no doubt.

Give it a rest enjoy the last season with spencer as a cowboy . Good riddance

I want players that go all out all the time . Practice , games etc . Anyone not giving 100% has a losers mentality and saying its okay is why this team hasn't made the playoffs in 4 years . Go ahead build your team with a bunch of players like spencer . I'll take a bunch of lee and wittens I want winners , guys who will do anything to win .

He's right, though. You're drawing an extreme conclusion based off of partial quotes that are out of context.

Hopefully we'll all enjoy the season, with Anthony Spencer in the lineup. I know I'm really looking forward to getting him back, and healthy. He's another impact player on the DL for us to go along with Ware and, now, Hatcher. We need him.

How can anyone not be a little excited about the prospect of a Ware, Spencer, and Selvie rotation at defensive end? Combine them with the emergence of Nick Hayden and the possibility of Ratliff filling a Leon Lett-type role when he returns, and the Cowboys may have found something here--something that can propel them far this season.

I know you'd love for me to give it a rest, since i know im right and you do to.. but most of us that are sensible know what was actually said by this point.

Luckily for most of us and the organization.. no one cares what kind of player you want on the Cowboys.

I will say that guys in the NFL who can sit down on their own, without a coach telling them to do something, and give themselves an honest critique of their play and review film to see what they need to do to get better, and then go out and really buckle down and focus on doing those little things to improve their game.. are EXACTLY the type of players i would want on my team. Sean Lee and Jason Witten would no doubt tell you the same.

But i would hate to let reason and logic get in the way of your poo poo'ing.. so carry on.
