Makes sense. Whatever can ease pressure on his knee.

Makes sense because I don't think it would be right for him to play left end in the 4-3, especially coming off the injury. His best bet is to play RDE.

Would it be out of the question for him to play an OLB position if he's like around 250ish?

let's start by getting him to walk limp-free under 260...once accomplished, we can go from there to "play" under 260 eventually

It cracks me up that people waste time posting about Spencer if they believe he is done.
If you believe that ignore his threads and move on.

Yes. I don't think he is fast enough to play OLB in a 4-3. He'd have to cover some fast TEs and RBs. He's incapable of that IMO. Even at the Sam they'd throw at him because of his lack of speed. JMO and I could be wrong as he did play SOLB in the 3-4.

I hear ya on the speed thing. I just wonder if playing LB again (maybe not in passing situations) would put less strain on his knee.

He has his surgery in October. By now they should have a good idea of how the superclot worked to regenerate cartilage. He has not had a set back.

It's one thing to withhold hope but the revelry in failure that goes around here is sickening.

There is only an upside with Spencer, or nothing at all.
He ddin't play last year as we all know, and most likely will start the season on PUP.
So this gives the other players time to learn and get experience. And as things usually goes. Someone will get injured mid way through the season, even if for a few games.
By this time spencer if fully recovered, can come in the last half of the season, fresh legs, and contribute. Probably not take over starting, but can get into the rotation.

If he can't come back, it's not like he was a loss on the DL anyway. But if he can get even 15 to 20 snaps a game, then that is a plus.

Here's hoping he makes a complete recovery. God knows we need help on D.

Good, because he was fat last year. Did not look like himself at all.

If I remember correctly he didn't really have a choice lol. He never had a training camp. He never had time to get in shape. You atleast want the offseason to get back in shape but its tough when you're also rehabbing.
