If they truly, honestly, and totally believe that Wentz is a franchise QB then yes, make the trade with Tennessee and draft him number one overall.

This is a QB league and if you have to give up some 2nd or 3rd round picks to secure your future franchise QB, you do it in a heartbeat. Again, this is predicated on the scouts telling me that he is that good. If the scouting department says he is the real deal, if Will McClay says he is the real deal, if the entire coaching staff tells me he is the real deal...............then I make the move and draft him.

That's 100% the opposite.... Hayden and Carr grade out below virtually every starter in the NFL.. McFadden was 4th best in the metric that matters most for his position.
McFadden came into this league as a 4th overall selection. He had measurables NO ONE in this RB draft class can match.
Carr and Hayden were draft class afterthoughts with poor measurables.
Carr is one of the slowest CBs in the league.
Hayden one of the least agile DL.
Those are athletic issues that only get worse with time.
McFadden's issues were being expected to carry a franchise ina time where running games were never going to match passing games and getting injured.

Arguing he is not good enough borders on delusional but it is reallly popular.
I suspect this is just a hang over from last season when everyone wanted a RB early.

But, whatever, they can continue to cry and DMC will continue to perform well.

Dmac is just a guy. I've stated several times he did an admirable job last season. But he doesn't scare anybody. Had Randle not been a bone head he would would have started the entire season. He actually had 1 more TD than him in 3 games compared to Dmac for the long haul. I don't hate Dmac, I just want a bellcow as that's the only way this crappy offense has proven to be successful. We cannot count on Dmac as well as that's only the 2nd time he has been healthy for a season. Then what the Turbin Dunbar show??

I'm not advocating getting a 1st round back either. 3rd and on and I will be stoked, although I would take Zeke in a NY minute but not at 4.

Btw what do you think of Washington in the NFL?

I believe he would scare plenty of people if he had a real QB.
McFadden is a far superior athlete to DeMarco Murray.
That's just reality.
Murray did a lot really, really well but he never had the speed McFadden does.

McFadden was 8th in the league last year in carries but finished 4th in yards and 9th in yards from scrimmage.
He did plenty with his touches.
Of course you'd like more TDs but this team flat didn't score much.

He was LITERALLY the lone bright spot on offense.
The OL started slowly and grew dominant which amazingly coincided with McFadden getting to start.

Again, I think this is leftover groupthink from him underhwleming in Oakland with a bunch fo spare QBs and Dallas fans badly wanting RB last year.

Wrong. DeMarco Murray ran for 702 yards and a 3.6 yards per carry average for his 8m per year salary.
And RBs do that... miss time... which is why only clown school GMs or ones that are good everywhere else look at them very early in drafts.
Murray had 1 off the charts season in Dallas. ONE. He had 392 carries. That totla is absurd and almost no back ever repeats that type of rushing output.

Murray and MCFadden (who was a complete bust in Oakland) both had 2 1000 yard rushing yardage seasons to their name.
Murray has missed a game with injury in every NFL season except 2014.

That may very well be true, but it doesn't change the fact that our scouting department has Wentz rated above Goff.

Rodgers played in a gimmick offense too at Cal.
While the 1 read quick play systems can be a negative they don't have to be.
Brady/Brees runs that spread system in the NFL.

I actually like both guys but I would be far more concerned about playing a QB coming from lower levels than one playing P5 football in a spread offense.
Cam and many other guys are coming out of these systems.
They make up the majority of what exists and the misses the last few years have been on more traditonal guys with big arms form pro style offenses.

The NFL uses the spead for 2:00 offfense and a fair amount will on 3rd downs. It is what seperates great QBs from just solid ones.

Romo and Rodgers lead the league in 4th quarter play with Brady some close and all play spread sets late where they go 0 backfield or 1 RB in just to block then leak out.

I agree. I will add you cannot expect modern day RBs to stay healthy enough all year to play at their expected level. So we just need to keep reloading periodically. I do not think we have to spend heavily on a RB.

Good points, I cant argu with that but our scouts seem to think it matters.

If it is not the system, It could be that our scouts love the size and athleticism of Wentz over Goff.

Great discussions people. The team isn't above misdirection either BTW. The temptation to get a QB this year has to be overwhelming since they aren't likely to see this kind of draft pick for a year or four.

I don't think they are taking QB at 4 and sit behind Romo.

Too much money and no results to show for it.

I think defense is going to be the direction and try to replace Hardy and and a CB.

we need at least 2 defensive starters from this draft if not 3.

then if things don't improve next year..

we will have another high draft pick in 2016 to go get a QB and RB.

Defense has to have more talent.

The offense has been stocked already.

The injuries were a fluke.

Next year will need a pass rush, rushing defense and pass defense.

DT, LBer and CB/safety.

Not sexy but solid for what ails us.

This is top priority..IMO.

I disagree..............if you think Wentz is a legit franchise QB, you are going to risk losing him over a 2nd or 3rd round pick?
