I don't see how Merriman is too high, really.

If this list were produced before the season, I'd agree. But with the way he's started, he's worth the hype IMO. I don't care if we passed on him or not. Doesn't he already have like 4 sacks?

I'm not one to dwell (too much) on passing players. Especially Merriman. Why? I don't think he'd be that successful here. No way he'd be utilized like he is in San Diego. Not to discredit Merriman whatosever, but I think Ware would look a lot better numbers-wise in San Diego than he currently does here, too.

Glad to see four 'Boys on this list. Not sure I agree with where they're at with respect to their peers, but these lists can't be perfect. And they also can't -- and shouldn't -- appease each fanbase.

it was written on the 7th, wasn't that when the new season began?

It's just a list created by scrubs like you and me. There's lots of issues with it.

Remember a few years ago where Larry Allen was ranked #1? It may have been the same publication, dunno.

There's always people ranked too high or too low. Portis is too low, Alexander is too low, etc.

No Bledsoe? Sheesh.

You're out of your mind if you think Bledsoe is one of the top 100 players.

I like Portis.

Who would I rate higher?

Maybe Tiki, Alexander... not many.

MW, you've got the right idea. But even those two are 31 and 29 years old, respectively. CP just turned 25, 3 weeks ago. If he stays healthy, Clinton will be one of the best.

Why do we take these lists so personally? Who cares where our players are ranked?

Amen and they are always really subjective to the view of the maker and the maker usually doesn't know any more than any good football fan. They may have more info since their job is usually writing about sports/football, but it by no means is any indication they know what they are talking about.

Being a list maker/writer does not make them any more knowledgeable than anyone else and we all know sports writers that are totally useless.

All I have to say is, any list that doesn't list Julius Peppers as top 5 player in NFL, is totally Bogus. You just have to watch last weeks game against Vikings. He was splitting double teams like it was nothing. Just an Amazing player!!

Shawne Merriman is the most overhyped palyer pretty much in recent history.

Well then, watch last week's Vikings game against Panthers and watch Julius Peppers put a performance, withouht dancing up and down like Shawn Merriman "The Hype". And Julius Peppers doesn't get his sacks on blitzes or against RBs etc.

If this was an all-time list vs. an active list, Bledsoe would have to be there. I personally think he is top 100, especially considering what happened to Buffalo after he left and Dallas after he arrived. Both teams were playoff contenders with him and crap without him.

Yeah, know what you mean... I know Bledsoe's leaving caused the Buffalo special teams and defense to score 9 less TD's than they had the year before.
