The Dallas Cowboys will be making their first and only appearance of the season on Monday Night Football when they host the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Sounds simple, but it’s much bigger than that.

“It’s America’s Team. The Cowboys deliver,” said Jay Rothman, the lead producer of ESPN’s Monday Night Football and the popular Gruden’s QB Camp series. “We’re excited to get our Monday night appearance with them and be in Dallas. It’s always a big event when you do a game in Dallas. We love it. We can’t wait to get down there and showcase the Cowboys.”

MNF on ESPN has been dragging in rating this season, so this is a really big game for them. You know they're praying for one of those viral moments like Zeke's Kettle Leap.

Anyone that doesn't believe that the Cowboys aren't America's Team need to follow the money and the ratings.

Usually when we are on espn they spend the entire pregame doing nothing but bagging on the players and the owner and his family.

They almost never talk about football with Dallas on that network, only what jerry said or what dez did to upset old white men.

I am sure they will drum something up over the weekend also. Either they will get jerry to do an interview they can nit pick and exploit or the whole pregame crew will say they are not really that good like Randy Moss did monday night. In one breath he said he loved what he was seeing from Tampa and they looked good then turned around and said I don't believe in Dallas, Dallas has to prove it to me.....on the day after Dallas beat Tampa.

all from a guy who never won a championship. Prove it? What? You lost to the same team Tony Romo did in the 07 playoffs and you have Tom Brady on your team. No one needs to prove anything to you.

Just like today on one sports talk show they said "just like we suspected...Jerry Jones admitted he manufactured the entire QB controversy."

You didn't suspect nothing because that's why you were falling all over yourself trashing him and covering it like it was an international incident. They talk out of both sides of the neck all the time. Not a good look.

Can't the Cowboy just play the early game and get it over with? I hate staying up late...to see the fate!
Their next loss will be the worse one...I hope their not late...

While I agree with a lot of that, I think that there is more of a generational gap when it comes to things like that. Celebrating, tweeting, 10 step handshakes, dancing, going to a club/bar and pretty much anything other than studying film, being with your family 24/7 and robotically handing the ball to the ref after a play strangely bothers people over 35.

If the Giants lose on Thursday night, what more do the Cowboys have to play for on Monday? Could this MNF game turn out to be boring and meaningless? Watching Zeke set records is pretty exciting so, there is that. :D

I'm all for that scenario. MNF will have plenty to talk about with Gregory and a possible Romo sighting.

It's at least 2 maybe 3
I'm not sure that's true. Actually I have no idea what is going on with the MNF schedule. There are 17 games, so at least two teams have to go twice. I see the Eagles played twice. Not exactly forecasted to be a marquee team. I can't remember the last time we played two MNF games. I don't see any evidence they schedule for ratings. It looks like just about everyone gets a go.

Having both the Cowboys and Raiders in the playoffs is huge for the networks.

Ratings ratings ratings

We have a lot of fans who love to watch us play of course and then there's a lot of people who love to watch us lose. I said this earlier, only 1 game wasn't televised here in Miami. The Browns game. I still watched it on NFL ticket but man, that's crazy. Most people don't want to admit the Cowboys are really America's team but the ratings and the popularity is there. No one can deny that. Especially now with Dak & Zeke.

What is up with all these prime time games? I thought there was a rule a team can only play so many of them? These prime time games start to take a toll on a team.

Looks like fans still want to see my play by play so it will be on for the rest of the season. All my haters out there, love you guys. Hate what you have to say, but if you're Cowboys fans, you're my bros. About the ratings, how lucky are we to be in love with a team who is the #1 ratings team in the world? My Christmas wish is for the boys to win their 6th.
Let's go Santa!!!
