Anyone looking to harp on Taco is just salty we didn't draft Watt and wants to flex their draft expertise.

Or maybe they are right? Who knows. I'm not sure your point of view is more proveable at this point than theirs.

The first round pick from Michigan declined to elaborate on the essence of the tweet, saying: “Just laying out some wisdom. People can take it how they want to take it.”

It can easily be deduced that Charlton is taking issue with reports of his early struggles at training camp.

But he even acknowledged having a rough first day in pads when he was lifted off the ground by right tackle La’el Collins and losing a battle with undrafted free agent guard Dan Skipper.

“I had my struggles Day 1, but now I’m doing fine,” Charlton said. “I basically didn’t keep my feet up under me. I was too ready to hit something that I wasn’t keeping my feet. As days went on I got better. Things improved. The pass rush improved. Moves improved and I started winning more.”

Charlton has gotten better under the watchful eye and constant harping of defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, who derides as much as he encourages and has even belted out “Taquito” rather than Taco a few times.

“He has said that once or twice,” Charlton said of the “Taquito” crack from Marinelli. “He gets after me. He likes what he sees. He tries to get me to do things and try different moves and expand my repertoire.”

Like the idea. But I wonder how good of a teacher DWare would be.

Like, what worked for him wouldn't work for Taco. Completely different skillsets.

Just a specific nitpick, I guess. Not trying to dog you.

It may or may not work for Taco. But so what.....at least it will give Taco some confidence that he learned from one of the best passrushers in the NFL. It will also mean a lot to him that the Cowboys are willing to invest in him and to know that the team is looking out for him.

Prescott mentioned that he was blessed that he had so many good coaches helping him along the way - from Wilson, Garrett to even Linehan. Thus it allowed him to have the confidence he needed to become the QB he was in his rookie season.

I don't see why the Cowboys can invest that amount of coaching on Taco as well? It doesn't hurt and it could only make him a better player. Plus it doesn't affect the cap.

Don't we have one of the greatest pass rusher in the history of the NFL, Charles Hailey, helping out?

I don't think so. But don't quote me on it. I think he only comes by once in a while when Jerry wants him to talk to the team. Other than that I don't think he does any kind of individual coaching whatsoever.

This is spot on. Just for a little context, JPP and Olivier Vernon had 0 starts combined their rookie seasons and 3.5 sacks each. Brandon Graham, who may be the best DE in the conference currently, didn't reach 10 sacks for his career until his 4th season.

I wish that we can give Taco some special attention and dedicated a pass rushing specialist to help him out. I'm all for hiring D Ware just to coach him up for a week or two and give him pointers. San Fran had him come for a day to help improve the pass rush. Why not hire D Ware and let me work with Taco 1 on 1 for a week or two?

That would be better for next year.

Rookies get more info from coaches in training camp than they can process.

The tips and tricks he might get from Ware will make a lot more sense once he is up to speed on the basics.
