For all the folks who have asked what is close to Cowboys Stadium and have
not gotten the answers they might have wanted.
There are so many places that it is hard to point out just what is in the area.
Here is a site that has a map showing where these places are in relation to the new Stadium.
Sorry its not interactive but with the address you can use google maps or whatever to find out how far away and how to get there.
NONE of these places is very far from the Stadium if you are driving. If you are walking then I would suggest just walking north up Collins ( the street on the west side of the stadium). Depends on how much walking you like to do.

http://i14.***BLOCKED***/albums/a319/railzrantz/hotel_rest.jpg

A lot of these are chains and you will recognize them, some of the others you may not know. It will be way easier to ask about a specific place than to just ask whats there.

I did not make this map, found it on this site but wanted to post it in here
to make it easy for everybody to find.
http://www.arlington.org/staylate_map

I have NOT been to all or even many of these places but I haven't heard anything terrible about any of them either.

This is by no means an all inclusive list, pretty much due south of the Stadium
along I-20 there are more places as well as a mall that will keep any of your wives busy.

Just north and east of Arlington near the DFW airport there are even more places to eat, shop and spend the night. Outlet mall and Bass Pro Shop are
in that area.

Oh yeah Fort Worth and Dallas are around here somewhere !!!

When this falls off the front page, I'm going to sticky this in the Members Zone.

Thanks for posting this, poke.

Also, it would be nice if people in the area add more info to the thread..

Thanks WG, I am hoping people will let everybody know if they have been
to a place or not.
I live on the other side of town so I dont have to go over there to eat out
and so I dont know that much about each place.
I can recommend The Saltgrass and The Trail Dust and The Texas Land and
Cattle Company steakhouses.
The Hilton on Lamar is fairly new and so is very nice and has a club on site.
The Sheraton is nice as far as lobbies and meeting rooms but I have never stayed there.

Does anyone who has been to the last two games know how much traffic is around after the game. Thinking about parking at the stadium, but don't want to sit in traffic for hours.

My daughter went to the opener and they ate at Black-Eyed Pea (No. 3). She said that restaurant has a deal where if you eat there and your bill is more than $40, you can leave your car there and use their parking lot. You have to place your bill/ticket in your window.

She said it was a short walk. With parking costs ranging from $20 to $65 (I've heard), this is a good deal if you want to eat there.

I been to both games. Traffic has not been a problem. I live 7 miles from the stadium. But the Collins street bridge is not completed yet. So I go an alternate route. Copper run parallel to Collins. I am coming from Euless. Straight up North from the stadium, on Collins / 157 / S. Industrial Blvd. They go by all 3 names.
It was so easy getting there and going home, I may continue that, instead of using Collins when it reopens.

Leave 1 1/2 hours before the game. Was in my lot [parking lot 11] within 20 - 25 minutes. Leaving and got home both times within 30 minutes.

Been to all of these, can't go wrong with any of them. Some of the other places on the list, I have not been to them, but been to others in the DFW area. Pretty decent also.

Depending what you want to spend and what atmosphere you want.

Piccolo Mondo is excellent, but an upper scale restaurant, plan to spend some bucks. But the service is perfect.
Hibachi 151, very good, Good show from the chefs as they prepare your food in front of you.

Sherlocks for the sports theme. One side pool and bands, regular bar, the other side, a quieter area, more for privacy.

Red Hot & Blue, is a BBQ place, but very good.

I spent some time last year @ the UMC hospital by the mall when my wife was having surgery. Nice area with lots of things to do, fairly close to Cowboys Stadium. The mall was nice and they have a new shopping center right on I-20 that has my favorite pre-game eatery....BONE DADDY'S!!

Think Hooters without pantyhoes (and with BBQ) Good views, good food and COLD beer.

this is linked to my personal blog but it is something i had originally
posted as a guest blogger on the DMN Stadium Blog.

It is mainly links to the Cowboys site for info on parking, what you can bring
and what you cant, gate opening times....

http://americasteam.blogspot.com/

the stadium blog can be found here. http://stadiumblog.***BANNED-URL***/

So yeah this a Cowboys Stadium blog. Tons of stories about video boards, high priced concessions, first impressions, air conditioned football in Texas (thank you), and opinions on everything .
I live in Arlington and I am getting a lot of questions about where to stay, eat and park. I don’t stay in Arlington hotels, I usually eat in places close to the part of town I live in and as far as parking all I can say is be ready to either pay a lot of money or walk a bit. (and still pay a bit )
I did do some research ( search engines are research aren’t they?) and found some places where you can get information that just might come in handy when you get ready to head for Cowboys Stadium. Most of this information can be found at the Cowboys website but I know how most folks hate to click around looking so I did it for you.

Wanna know which hotels and restaurants are close to the Stadium ?

Everything from A to W, from the Cowboys Guest Services site ( there was no Z )

Need information about parking, what’s allowed, what’s not ?

Now that you bought some of that expensive parking, where the heck is it ?

What’s the best way to get from here to there ? (customized directions to your parking from the Cowboys site, not from me. Please remember that if you end up in Oklahoma.)

Another thing to remember is to look on your ticket to see what entry you are supposed to use. I think the Stadium staff is going to enforce that and by knowing where you are supposed to go in you might not have to make a trip around the “biggest room in the world.” ( Jerry said it, not me) Entrances are lettered A-K, except I couldn’t find an I entrance.

That last link is to a Cowboys message board that also has a lot of good information and since i linked to it I feel an obligation to include a link to their home page.

I also just read in the newspaper that you can catch a bus in Fort Worth and ride it to the Stadium for 5 dollars, plus 5 dollars if you park in the T parking lot.
I am sure before the first real game the DMN will put together a much more detailed and informative package of information to help everybody out but for you folks who have to know and you have to know right now so you can make your plans I hope this comes in handy.
Hopefully this information will help all the visitors to our fair city and maybe even a few from here who might not be familiar with the new digs in Arlington. So get on out there, but please remember, BE LOUD when the other team has the ball, and BE QUIET when the Cowboys have the ball.

Another parking option is if you pay a combined $40 shopping at the stores in a shopping center near the stadium. Leave the receipts in the windshield and then go to the stadium.

If you're late, you can simply buy a gift card, put it in the window and then walk to the stadium.

Shhhh! On Shuttle

by Jeff Prince

People *****ing about the high cost of parking at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium might want to consider the “Shuttle Deal” at J. Gilligan’s, 400 E. Abram St., in Arlington.

If you go to Gilligan’s before the game, order a cheeseburger, nachos, or any menu item, then you can get a ride to and from the stadium for $5.

The woman who told me about this asked me not to spread the information around — not many people know about the deal and she’s afraid that huge crowds of people wanting rides to the game will overwhelm the restaurant.

But the restaurant is billing the shuttle deal on its website, so I wouldn’t really call this a secret.

J. Gilligan's "Shuttle Deal"

Come get your shuttle wristband when you order a cheeseburger, Irish nachos or any menu item, and make a $5.00 trip tip.

You'll get free parking plus a ride to and from the game!

Thanks WG, I have always liked J Gilligans as a sports bar, casual food
kind of place.

Dont expect gourmet dining there but for before or after a game I wouldn't
have a problem with it.

Adding info on area hotels.

I met 2 couples at the game from of all places Pennsylvania, who stayed in Arlington hotels and they both liked where they stayed.

# 3 on the list Comfort Suites, the lady really liked it and said it had an
awesome free breakfast with Texas shaped waffles.

#25 Wingate by wyndham, very nice and the lady really liked this one.

I didnt ask the husbands cuz they were so happy to be at this game they
would have slept in a box I do believe.

I always park in the apartments right across the street from the stadium right at the edge of the WalMart parking lot.

...my friend lives there and always gives me a visitor's pass so I don't get towed. Don't hate!
