Norv is a great Ocoordinator, and I wouldn't mind if he came to Dallas in that same capacity, but he's not, we're talking about him being HC, in which it's proven that he's horrible in that capacity, that's why a majority of Cowboy fans are negative about him, and San Fran fans are positive

Because if he was our OC I would want to keep him around as well. I don't think he would run a tight enough ship over here. And who do you have running hte D?

Again, I don't think many people doubt his ability as a OC. It's the HC title that has most of us up in arms.

I agree...

If Norv came in to be the OC? No problem with me, but, man oh man...our Head Coach?

A good head coach lets his assitants do their jobs so where is the real difference between Norv being named HC or OC?

If I were a Whiner fan I wouldn't want him to leave either. He is an excellent OC and with so much invested at QB it's the perfect situation.

Being the head coach is more about management and leading men. Governing people and making snap game decisions is a far more difficult task.

Coordinators and assistants are delegated the responsibility for their specific units. Offensive and defensive gurus alike can scheme all day, but it doesn't lend itself to making a great head coach.

JMO here, but this has more to do with an ability to lead troops than X's and O's. It's not for every boy genius out there.

Agreed.

That's why I think it's nuts having to rely on the HC to fix the defense. It'll be up to the DC to fix the defense-- not the head coach. And quite frankly I don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to fix it.

have the other candidates met with the press? I didn't think anyone had met with the press other than norv. I wonder if that means anything. I could be wrong though.

As usual.

Yeah, I know Wade met with the media after his interview.

Absolutely. And I used this word in my previous post, one that would apply to your sentiment: delegate.

I won't get into specific accounts that might or might not have occurred on Bill's watch regarding the staff's inability to coach/adjust. But let's just say, I hope there is a bit less restraint with the next regime.

As you say, the defensive coordinator should be charged with addressing those issues. At the very least, should be given every opportunity to do so - with his defense. Not someone else's scheme.

Yep.

I believe that's what caused the 2006 defense to fall apart-- we had too many people in the kitchen and the one that ended up "making the meal" (Parcells) should have been a bit more flexible.

I would absoultely HATE for Norv to come here. We NEED a defensive coach. Our defense will excel greatly especially with a guy who knows how to run the 3-4. If Phillips comes here, there is a possibility he could bring Wayne Nunnely also. I want Phillips so bad, with Norv expect a 6 win OR LESS season. He is NOT a good head coach. period. Look at his previous stints as head coach...horrible.
I would love for Phillips to come here, and if he doesnt bring Nunnely, i want Rex Ryan as DC. That would be the coaching staff to take us all the way.

HC-Phillips
OC-Garrett
DC-Nunnely(or RYAN)

NO TO TURNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The same exact thing can be said for the reasons behind bringing norv turner in...except substitute Defense for Offense.

Last I recalled the offense was actually better than the defense last season.

Odd.

Some want an OC to be the HC but has had a losing record as a HC...and they want him here to mentor a young OC but that is fine.

Some want a DC to be the HC but he has had a winning record as HC and they want him to mentor a young DC (seeing as it will probably be Todd B.) but that is not ok.

I guess one reason is because Norv was a cowboy before, although he spent about three times as long as a Commander.

Vs someone that was a Buffalo bill and we know how much you love those from Buffalo.

So please explain to me why you are OK with someone being hired to do something on one side of the ball...but not ok with the other side of the ball that needs more help?
