You are reading to much into it. We have a RB corp that can carry the load Sunday. Just win and everything will take care of itself.

Look at it this way:

If Dallas can't take advantage of the situation and win the next two games when everything is in front of them for the taking AND they have the momentum after a HUGE win in Philly-- then, they simply aren't going to do much in the playoffs anyway.

It's put up or shut up time. No excuses. Other teams have injuries. We need to win 6 games in a row in order to hoist the Lombardi. They've done it already this season.

Actually that would be 7 games in a row.

I like the responses to the OP. The idea that the alignment is set against Dallas doesn't set right with me. We play with the cards we are dealt and can only play against the opposition put in front of us. Take care of your own business and the playoffs will take care of its self.

That's not the stars aligning against us. That's us failing to beat WAS when they had their #3 QB playing.

Uh, yeah. I think the stars have aligned perfectly for us and can't really understand how anyone could think differently. We had a late-season bye, exactly when Romo needed it most. We had another mini-bye after our second Thursday game, which was absolutely instrumental in getting Romo healthy enough to play effectively. We had that mini-bye directly before playing THE most important game of the year. The Eagles must now go on the road on a short week after playing Seattle and Dallas. We have been incredibly lucky with injuries this year, we are fielding a nearly healthy team in Week 16, darn near miraculous.

There are a hundred other reasons why we should be counting our blessings, not complaining.

I completely disagree.

Everything has lined up for us quite nicely, honestly.

Among many other things, the most important thing to me is that everyone STILL DOUBTS US. We've been able to fly under the radar the entire season and will continue to do so on into the playoffs.

On a positive note, this kind of do-or-die path forces the team to focus, they won't be slipping in the back door for the playoffs. The opponent they have before them is exactly the kind of opponent they would be facing in the playoffs. The injuries definitely hurt, but if they do win out they will be going in strong and would be getting some linemen back just in time,,,

Excellent post. It just is what it is, other teams have great records and have the wild cards all but locked up. We had a huge win against Philly and control our own destination, so we are in a great spot. It will just come down to how bad the Cowboys want it, and I would say it is pretty bad by the way they beat Philly. Let's do this!

Try this out. Seattle beats Arizona, and next week loses to the Rams and their pass rush. Green Bay wins this week. Detroit wins this week.

Next week, Green Bay and Detroit play to a tie. Detroit ends up being the 2nd seed.

Guess whose the #1 seed??

Make your own destiny should be the team's philosophy. No way can anything else be relied on. They win out, they deserve to be there. Simple as that. They lose well..maybe they shouldn't have lost to the raggedy a55 Commanders at home...

I agree that the Commanders' loss could come back and hurt us, but making your own destiny for Dallas could be harder without Free, Martin and Murray (or even with those guys slowed).

It's still on Dallas, but it would be nice if we could have went into this game at full strength or at least with those strengths of the team intact.

We could easily have made do without some other players. These are more difficult to deal with.

Nothing needs to "align" if we win the next two. Way to think positive.

Yeah the only thing I see here is. Take care of business!

Nothing more.

The things listed are small compared to other teams problems. Ie Arizona, Broncos Manning dead arm. Etc

When this team beat the Eagles, that kind of told me they're getting into the playoffs.
The Philly game was about as big a game as they come.
We faced an opponent who beat us handily last time.
We faced an opponent who talked much smack.
We faced an opponent who was in our division.
We faced an opponent who if we lost to them would basically take the NFC East and leave us, essentially, out of the playoffs.
We faced an opponent playing on its home turf with its crazy fans.
We faced an opponent we were playing on Sunday Night.
We faced an opponent who took the lead after spotting us 21 points and had the momentum on their side.
We immediately retook the lead, never looked back and took control of the division.

If this team were like the team of the past few years, we would have folded. But we didn't.

Outside a Romo injury, I just don't see us losing to the Colts. If this were Week 5, maybe I'd expect a let down. But we're not in the clear. We still need this win to be one step closer to the division and one step closer to the playoffs.

I don't care if we're a better road team. I don't we squander this opportunity. If we do, I'd be very surprised based on what this team has accomplished so far this year.

If we want a bye week, the best thing that could happen is Seattle beating Arizona. So in that sense, things have lined up quite nicely.

That could be true depending on other circumstances. At this point, though, Arizona is a lock for the playoffs, so we're better off with the teams contending with us for a spot losing. It doesn't look likely to happen, which could end up being a good thing in the Seattle case.

The best thing that could happen for us is we win and Philly loses, then it really doesn't matter what happens to Detroit and Seattle.

Of course, the other possible way for us to backdoor into the playoffs, if necessary, would be for Green Bay to crap out in its final two games. I prefer to keep all options open.

If the stars don't align, then we're going to have to align them. We've still got a very winnable game in front of us this weekend. Bears weren't going to beat Lions for us, anyway, and I think I"d rather have them bench Cutler and hope for a bounce from the backup.

That's what I'm thinking. I think Clausen starting means the Bears will have to manage the clock with Forte (whom I think the Bears have basically abandoned) and pick their spots with Clausen. And to add to the equation, this is a division game so anything can happen.

I think the Bears have a chance to beat the Lions.

Not sure I buy this.

The Colts have injury woes that seem at least as serious but with far less reason to play their guys.
We have some injuries but almost no one has been ruled out yet.

The Colts media guys are picking the Cowboys. They say that team has beaten a lot of bad teams but no one good and has holes everywhere but QB.

Then we get Washington where we have revenge and motivation galore. While they are looking at next year and draft status.

Did you see that MIN game last week? That was the one I thought might get them, because MIN historically beats the Lions fairly often. They were driving for the go-ahead fg with less than 30 seconds in the game and their replacement back goes down in the middle of the field, a yard short of the first down marker so they can't kill the clock or stop it to move chains. They fritter off 10 seconds and then blow the game on an incompletion. So frustrating.
